Harrison's Funeral Home Orange Mound Chapel has charge. He was an Army veteran, a graduate of Melrose High School and a former member of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. Mr. Gardner, the husband of Lillian Inez Brown Gardner, also leaves five daughters, Beryl Gardner Fifer, Shelia Gardner, Tempest Gardner Fultz, Gina Gardner Jackson and Lillian Gardner Hodges; four sons, Jesse M. Gardner II, Percy D. Gardner, Courtney M. Gardner and Benard W. Gardner, and a sister, Donna Lynn Banks, all of Memphis, 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
