TAPLEY, Wilma Lou, age 72 of Huntland, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at her residence. She was a homemaker and the daughter of the late Will Syler and Vertie Lee Stewart Syler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Lealon "Cliff" Tapley of Huntland; two sons, Shane Tapley and Phillip Tapley of Huntland; stepson, Randy (Galia) Tapley of Nobnoster, MI; stepdaughters, Kimberly Kelley and Monica Brooks of Radcliff, KY; brother, Earl (Elouise) Syler of Huntland; grandchildren, Haley and Jesse Tapley of Tullahoma; great-granddaughter, Payton Tapley of Tullahoma; and goddaughter, Katrina Persey. Visitation was held on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. MARSHALL, Corey Daniel, age 24 of Estill Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, surrounded by his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Carmen Elizabeth Jacobs of Sewanee; his mother, Joan Elizabeth Bradford West of Estill Springs; father and step-mother, Danny and Vickie Adams Marshall of Culleoka; sister, Victoria Marshall of Culleoka; brothers, Alex D. West of Estill Springs, Shain Weatherford of Culleoka, Ty Copeland of Estill Springs, and Casey Westbrook of Winchester; maternal grandparents, Craig and Eileen Rainey Kratzberg of Canyon Country,  Calif., Tony and Deborah Campbell Bradford of Lewisburg and Lester and Barbara White West, also of Lewisburg; paternal grandparents, David and Marie Hensley Cochran of Mooresville and Irene Johns Adams of Culleoka; maternal great-grandparents, James D. and Elizabeth Fishburn Chapman of Lewisburg, Albert and Marilyn Kratzberg of Caldwell, Idaho, Claude Dean of Shelbyville and Don Campbell of Columbia; paternal great-grandmother, Alice Hensley of Shelbyville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A celebration of Corey’s life will start Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 at 6 p.m. at Bills and McGaugh Funeral Home in Lewisburg. WALTON, Mary C., age 65 of Cowan, died on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at Golden Living Center Mountainview in Winchester. She was born on Sunday, Sept. 30, 1945 in Sewanee, the daughter of the late George and Mae White Sargent. Mrs. Walton was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Walton, son, Keely Walton and brother, George Sargent, Jr. Surviving are son, Christopher (Robin) Walton of Tullahoma; daughter, Kerri Hill of Cowan; brothers, John (Amy) Sargent of Sewanee, and Roy (Lola) Sargent of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Mae (Jessie) Roberts of Sherwood, Dorothy Wardell of Cowan and Ina Griffin of Knoxville; grandchildren, Nicholas Walton, Heath Walton, Ryan Hill and Noah Walton; and daughter-in-law, Becky Walton of Smyrna. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 from 12 noon-2 p.m. at the Cowan Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 206 Cowan St. W. in Cowan. WEAVER, Dorothy Aline, age 86 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at Bailey Manor in Winchester. She was born on Friday, Aug. 29, 1924 in Wartrace, the daughter of the late Samuel and Myrtle Monce Curl. She spent her time taking care of her husband and family as well as working as a cook for Broadview School, Franklin County High School and the hospital in Winchester. She was a member of the Marble Plains Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, J.C. Weaver; brothers, Sammy, and Cecil Curl; and sisters, Ida Mae Monce, Ruby Curl and Francis Bowman. Surviving are daughters, Alene Cowan of Belvidere, and Emma (Robert) Green of Franklin; grandchildren, Robyn Cowan, Rhonda Cowan, Jeff Green, Jay Green and Robin McDaniel; and great-grandchildren, Kara and Taylor McDaniel. The family received friends on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 from 10 a.m.- 12 noon at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. SANSON, John Raymond, age 87 of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, Nov.18, 2010 at Golden Living Center. He was the owner and operator of Ray's Auto Electric in Chattanooga for many years. He was born o on Oct. 14, 1923 to the late Clarence and Josie Sanson of Decherd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Clint Sanson; sister, Ruby Jean Goodman; and wives, Mary Sue Sanson Craig and Lucille Sanson Crisp. Survivors include seven children, Stanley Sanson of Decherd, Clemmie (Haskell) Conn of Winchester, Ronald (Peggy) Sanson of Decherd, Gary Sanson of Estill Springs, Doug (Stephanie) Sanson of Chattanooga, Kaye (Clarence) Henley of Winchester and Dale (Myra) Sanson of Chattanooga; brother, Herman Sanson of Decherd; sister, Susie Williams of Winchester; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. HAWKINS, Glen H. "Hub," age 84, a lifelong resident of Sewanee, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at his residence. He had retired from The University of the South and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ethel Hawkins; brothers, Elmer and Tommy Hawkins; and a sister, Mildred Reid. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marion Brooks Hawkins; daughters, Lynn (Jimmy) Duncan of Knoxville and Becky (Jimmy Wayne) Sanders of Decherd; a sister, Betty (John) Stuart of Foley, Ala.; grandchildren, Tara (Bryn) Richardson, Angela Lundberg, Daniel Meaker, Whitney (Jason) Brown, John Duncan III (Lindsey), Chris Meaker and Zane Duncan; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Modesty, Cyrus, Beau, Haley, Emma, McClain, Austin, Harper; and his good friend, Jackie Ladd, Sr. Visitation was held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle. COUNTS, Linda S., age 69 of Belvidere, died on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at her home. She was born on Thursday, June 26, 1941 in Jackson Co., Ala., the daughter of the late Frank and Odessa Prince Shafer. She was employed by Limbaugh Massey Ferguson, working as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Counts was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Counts and her children, Joe Wayne, Jr. and Jennifer Jo Counts. Surviving are sisters, Sara "Mickey" (Norris) Payne of Gurley, AL, Sandra (Roy) Groce of Belvidere and Dianne (Dave) Graf of Winchester; nieces, Pam Fritz, Kim Cates and Ryan Hardison; and nephews, Jeff Martin, Robert Martin and Steve Groce.
