Somerville -- Murphy Charles 'Jack' Pittman, 73, retired from Bemis Cotton Mill, died Tuesday at the Regional Hospital of Jackson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home South Chapel in Jackson with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens there. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home has charge. He was an evangelist at Pinson Church of God. Mr. Pittman, the husband of Annie Bolden Pittman, also leaves two daughters, Linda White of Jackson and Lisa Cox of Pinson; three sons, Wayne Pittman of Jackson, Charles Pittman of Pinson and Jerry Pittman of Bemis; two sisters, Katherine Stewart of Eads and Mamie Smith of Medon; two brothers, Calvin Pittman of Eads and Bobby Johnson of Bemis, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Ronald McDonald House in Nashville.

Somerville -- David Williamson, 78, of Chicago, formerly of Somerville, employee of Chicago Parks Division, died Saturday at his home. Services will be at noon Friday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. J.A. Lofties Funeral Home has charge. He leaves two daughters, Jean Delois Williamson of Chicago and Lea Mae Williamson of Memphis; seven sisters, Maude McGhee of Chicago, and Pauline Coe, Burnice Jones, Eva J. Williamson, Francis Williamson, Doris Hall and Florance Adams, all of Memphis, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Stanton -- Annie Laurie Utley, 76, homemaker, died Wednesday at Haywood Park Community Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Dancyville United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with burial in the church cemetery. Brownsville Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Utley, the wife of Ralph Utley, also leaves a daughter, Tracey Ray of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Mildred Best of Ironwood, Mich., and a grandchild. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

Kilborn A. DeFir, 80, of Memphis, retired machine operator for International Harvester, died Tuesday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Forest Hill cemetery East. He was an Army veteran and a member of Frayser Masonic Lodge. Mr. DeFir, the husband of Dorris C. DeFir for 54 years, also leaves a son, Dennis DeFir of Horn Lake; five sisters, Diane Maddox and Gwendola DeFir, both of Dermott, Ark., Grace Acord of Alabama, Gayle Williams of Texas and Lois DeFir of New Jersey; four brothers, William DeFir, Jim DeFir and Robert M. DeFir Jr., all of Dermott, and W.H. DeFir of Louisiana, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Drennen Michael Duel, 1-year-old son of Cindy and Mike Duel of Cordova, died Wednesday at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center. Jesse T. Echols, 83, of Memphis, died March 17 at his home. Services will be at noon Monday at M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home Whitehaven Chapel with burial in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. Mr. Echols, the husband of Addie Key Echols, also leaves two daughters, Rubystene Hawkins and Michelle Echols, and two sons, Arthur Echols and David Echols, all of Memphis; two sisters, Laura Clanton of Memphis and Fair Ella Swauncy of Coldwater, Miss., 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Bishop Byrne High School and Ole Miss and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He leaves his parents, Erma V. and Melvin R. Foster of Memphis; two sisters, Patricia L. Hubbard and Lisa R. Banks, both of Atlanta; a brother, Rashad F. Hason of Williamsburg, Va., and his grandmother, Helen F. Bailey of Memphis.

John J. Graninger Jr., 76, of Memphis, retired teacher and basketball coach for Memphis City Schools, died Tuesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Funeral Home South with burial in Forest Hill cemetery South. He was a graduate of Memphis State University, where he played basketball. Mr. Graninger, the husband of Jeanne Graninger Jr. for 54 years, also leaves three daughters, Deborah Goodwin, Terri Graninger and Angelica Allsup, all of Memphis; three sisters, Joann Oehman and Sharon Edwards, both of Indiana, and Mary Margaret Selent of Kentucky, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
