COUNCE - Troy Lee Davis, 77, retired river towboat captain after 20 years, died of cancer Saturday at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, Miss. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Shackelford Funeral Home in Savannah with burial in Cromwell South Shiloh Cemetery in Shiloh. Mr. Davis, the husband of Jewell Gray Davis, also leaves two daughters, Jean Mayhall of Counce and Dean Lee of Savannah; three sons, David Davis and Johnny Davis, both of Counce, and Troy Lee Davis Jr. of Bartlett; a brother, Neal Bowden of Counce, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

FRIENDSHIP - J. W. Davis, 82, retired mechanic for Crockett County Highway Department, died of a bacterial infection Friday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Floyd's Chapel United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Maury City Funeral Home has charge. Mr. Davis, the husband of Pauline Davis, also leaves three daughters, Sherry Wright of Halls, Nancy Climer of Alamo and Ann Taylor of Brownsville; a son, David Davis of Friendship; two sisters, Elsie Lovelace of Maury City and Evie Gregory of Ro Ellen; a brother, Malcolm Davis of Houston, 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

HALLS - Estelle Uselton Broyles, 82, homemaker, died of myocardial infarction Friday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Lauderdale in Ripley. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home with burial in Halls Cemetery. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Poplar Grove. Mrs. Broyles, the widow of Arthur Broyles, leaves three daughters, Carolyn Hendren, Rita Pool and Elizabeth Mathis, and a son, Tim Broyles, all of Halls; a brother, Leon Uselton of Greenwich, Ohio, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

HENRY - Thomas Brooks Smith, 80, of Memphis, formerly of Henry, retired buyer for Sears Roebuck & Co., died of heart failure Friday at Shelby Pines Nursing Home in Memphis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Family Funeral Care Stage Road Chapel in Memphis with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens there. He was a World War II Army veteran. He leaves three sisters, Katie Jean Hart and Glenda Ann James, both of Paris, and Freida Marie Anderson of Clarksburg, W. Va.; a brother, H. B. `Bo' Smith of Henry, and a friend who cared for him, Bobbie Jo Daniel. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or MIFA.

HUMBOLDT - Robert E. Graves, 85, of Jacksonville, Fla, formerly of Humboldt, retired employee of Railroad Retirement Board, died of heart failure Dec. 23 in Jacksonville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Graves, the husband of Myrie W. Graves, also leaves two daughters, Kay Allgood of Nashville and Elaine Marshall of Wilson, N. C.; three sisters, Virginia Pitts and Jane Stone, both of Memphis, and Ann Pettigrew of Brownsville; two brothers, Howard E. Graves and James T. Graves, both of Humboldt, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

JACKSON - Louis Stanback, 75, died of heart disease Thursday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Willow Grove Cemetery in Brownsville. Godwin, Delores Randle, Cheyenne Hill, Hattie Stanback Hill and Mary Ann Douglas, and four sons, Samuel Hill, Darrell Owen, James Stanback and Louis T. Stanback Jr..

MASON - Dianne Anthony Butler, 43, cook at Short Stop, died of heart failure Jan. 6 at her home. Services were Saturday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with burial in Keeling (Tenn.) First Baptist Church Cemetery. Mason Funeral Home had charge. She leaves a daughter, Tawana Anthony; two sons, Anthony Butler Jr. and Mario Butler; four sisters, Carolyn Anthony, Wendy Rudd, Alice Mae Jones and Belinda Powell; six brothers, David Anthony, Howard Anthony, Terry Anthony, Darry D. Anthony, William Anthony and Evidell Anthony Jr., and two grandchildren.

Sinai Cemetery. Mason Funeral Home had charge. Mrs. Shaw, the widow of James O. Shaw, leaves a son, Leonard T. Shaw of South Bend, Ind.; three sisters, Parthena Shaw of Chicago and Katherine Thompson and Hannah Billingsley, both of Memphis; three brothers, John Will Jones of Mason and Rev. Ellis Jones and Erma Yates, both of Memphis, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

PARIS - Opal Mae Crafton, 83, former cook for Benton County High School, died of Parkinson disease Friday at Lifecare of Bruceton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ridgeway Funeral Home with burial in Eastview Cemetery in Camden. She was a member of Cedar Grove Church of Christ and attended Springhill Baptist Church. Mrs. Crafton, the widow of James Calvin Crafton, leaves two daughters, Sherry Cook of Mansfield and Carolyn Keefer of Dixon, Ill.; a son, Dewey Crafton of Mansfield, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He leaves three daughters, Dorothy Barnes of Silerton and Donna Cryer and Robin Cryer, both of Memphis; his parents, Pattie and Windle Vandiver of Bethel Springs; five sisters, Rachel Sparks of Selmer, Charlotte Jeter of Brownsville, Debra Monroe of Meadville, Miss., and Yvonne Floyd and Sandra Ortiz, both of Peoria, Ill.; three brothers, Roger Vandiver and Curby Vandiver, both of Hornsby, and Joseph Vandiver of Huntingdon; a caregiver, Mary Mayfield of Silerton, and seven grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
