John T. Buss, 79, of Memphis, retired professor for LeMoyne-Owen College after 40 years, died Friday at Memphis Veterans Medical Center. Langford-Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ark., has charge. He was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran, a graduate of Arkansas State University and a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity.

John Cunningham, 52, of Memphis, retired custodian for Memphis City Schools, died Tuesday at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Breakthrough Ministry Church with burial in Union cemetery. R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home has charge. Mr. Cunningham, the husband of Alfreda Cunningham, also leaves a daughter, Lucky Stewart of Memphis; three sons, Mararious Brooks of Cincinnati, and Demetrius Cunningham and John Cunningham Jr., both of Memphis; his stepfather, Oscar Whitelow; a sister, Ethel Stuckey of Memphis; a brother, Oscar Whitelow Jr. of Gary, Ind., and seven grandchildren.

John E. Daugs, 82, of Memphis, retired from the Navy and retired polygraphist, died Tuesday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown with burial in Forest Hill cemetery Midtown. He was a World War II Navy veteran and former president of Memphis Jazz and Blues Club. Mr. Daugs, the husband of Ramona Daugs, also leaves four daughters, Sharon Miller-Willingham and Linda Cooper, both of Memphis, Rebecca Hill of Bartlett and Dianne Calvin of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Eric Daugs of Memphis; three sisters, Donna Simer of Oklahoma, and Shirley Beller and Sharon Pace, both of Iowa; a brother, Richard Daugs of California, 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Walter R. Davis, 78, of Memphis, retired owner of W.B. Davis Electric Supply Co., died Tuesday at his home. Services will be at noon Friday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Memphis Electric League. Mr. Davis, the widower of Lora Davis, leaves a daughter, Sherry Davis of Memphis; two sisters, Dorothy Gammon of Piperton and Mary Lou Mason of Memphis; a brother, W.B. Davis Jr. of Memphis, three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Charlene Flanigan, 73, of Memphis, homemaker, died Tuesday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was a member. She leaves three daughters, Barbara Gardiner-Mazza of King George, Va., Linda Raehn of McLean, Va., and Kati Clark of Memphis; a son, John Flanigan III of Manteca, Calif.; a sister, Darlene Caughlin of Memphis, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. He was a member of Georgian Hills Baptist Church. Mr. Grantham, the husband of Margaret Virginia Markham Grantham, also leaves a daughter, Linda Wagner of Park City, Ill.; a son, Kenneth Grantham of Atoka; a sister, Patty Lapidus of Albuquerque, N.M., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
