Dorothy Peterson Askew, 66, of Memphis, retired from AT&T; and BellSouth, died Wednesday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown with burial in Forest Hill cemetery Midtown. She leaves four sisters, Katherine Carroll of Hernando, Bertha Duvall of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Mary Ann Kincaid of Hot Springs, Ark., and Carol James of Horn Lake, and a companion with whom she lived, Geraldine Montgomery. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Joy Lynn Benson, 62, of Memphis, died March 25 at her home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Memory Hill Gardens. Family Funeral Care has charge. She leaves a son, Charles Benson of Memphis; a brother, Robert Lawrence Benson of Madisonville, Texas; three half-brothers, Ronnie Benson and Jimmy Benson, both of Magnolia, Texas, and John Benson of Fort Worth, Texas, and a grandson. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.

Dr. Robert L. Berl, 70, of Memphis, marketing professor for the University of Memphis, died Wednesday at his home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with inurnment in Memorial Park Mausoleum. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Georgia State University, a member and former secretary of Salvation Army Advisory Board, a member of Economic Club of Memphis, a former member of Memphis Rotary Club and a volunteer for Saint Francis Hospital. Mr. Berl was the husband of Betty L. Berl for 29 years. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Salvation Army.

James Michael Branson, 55, of Memphis, electrician for Local 474, died Wednesday at his home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Family Funeral Care. He was a Marine Corps and Army Special Forces veteran, the recipient of National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnam Service medal with one star and Rifle Expert badge, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Scottish Rite. Mr. Branson, the husband of Martha Lusk Branson, also leaves three sons, Christopher Branson of Tennessee, Jimmy Branson of Searcy, Ark., and Eric Sweeten of Memphis; a brother, William Branson of Memphis, and six grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Disabled American Veterans.

Lillian H. Carter, 83, of Memphis, retired payroll clerk, died Wednesday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Forest Hill cemetery East. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Business & Professional Women's Association. She leaves a daughter, Jacqulyn Mosby of Memphis; a sister, Dorothy Omer of Birmingham, and a granddaughter. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or Christ United Methodist Church.

Anna Marie Chamblain, 93, of Memphis, died Thursday at Ave Maria Home. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was a communicant, with burial in Calvary. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. Mrs. Chamblain, the widow of Sam A. Chamblain, leaves a son, Joseph Chamblain of St. Louis.

Annie Lee Clayborn, 81, of Memphis, retired from Baptist Hospitals, died Sunday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home with burial in New Park Memorial Gardens. She was a member of Greater Open Door Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Clayborn, the widow of Shed Clayborn, leaves two daughters, Earnestine Clayborn and Sylvia Clayborn, both of Memphis; nine sons, James Clayborn, Shed Clayborn Jr., Ocaquie Clayborn, Van Leon Clayborn, Ulysses Clayborn, Gerald Clayborn and Myers Clayborn, all of Memphis, Charles Clayborn of Detroit and Thomas Clayborn of Tacoma, Wash., 40 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Highland Street Church of Christ and a graduate of Dyersburg High School. Mrs. Fowlkes, the widow of James F. Fowlkes, leaves two daughters, Kathy Fowler of Augusta, S.C., and Camille Fowlkes of Columbia, Tenn.; a son, Parris Fowlkes of Memphis; three sisters, Glenn Clevenger of Abilene, Texas, Lorene Word of Beebe, Ark., and Belle Morris of Dallas; two brothers, Dale Parris of Tucson, Ariz., and Granville Parris of Little Rock, and two grandchildren. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a graduate of Messick High School and attended the University of Mississippi and the University of Texas. Mr. Hamilton, the husband of Virginia Hill Hamilton for 62 years, also leaves two daughters, Sheri H. Strange of Carlsbad, Calif., and Cyndi H. Corjan of Fishers, Ind.; two sons, Henry Hamilton of Memphis and Ben Hamilton of Las Vegas, seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
