Ripley -- Harvey E. Thurmond, 54, of Chicago, formerly of Ripley, railroad worker and retired from the Marine Corps after 26 years, died Thursday at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, Ill. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garner Funeral Home with burial in Thurmond cemetery in Halls. Mr. Thurmond, the husband of Debra Thurmond, also leaves a sister, Carol Tompkins of Ripley, and a brother, George Thurmond of Brookfield, Ill.

Saltillo -- Rosa Prater Collins, 96, inspector at H.I.S. Manufacturing and school cafeteria cook, died Saturday at Hardin County Regional Hospital in Savannah. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Saltillo Church of Christ, where she attended, with burial in Shady Grove cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Home in Savannah has charge. Mrs. Collins, the widow of Charlie Collins, leaves two daughters, Nell Pryor of Jackson and Lois Bridges of Nashville; two sons, Kenneth Collins and Robert Collins, both of Saltillo, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Savannah -- Megan Paige Franks, 7-year-old daughter of Eva Paulette and Timmie Lane Franks, died Saturday at Hardin County General Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Faith Assembly of God with burial in Germany Branch cemetery. She also leaves two sisters, Ayla Chase Franks of Savannah and Nicole Williams of Mobile, Ala., and her grandparents, Lillian and Arthur Franks.

James J. Angy, 85, of Memphis, retired railway mail clerk for the Postal Service, died Sunday at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgecrest cemetery in Jackson, Tenn. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Collierville. Mr. Angy, the husband of Mildred Angy for 57 years, also leaves three daughters, Patricia Angy and Susan Clark, both of Memphis, and Jane Thornton of Cookeville, Tenn.; three sisters, Helen Pence and Gladys Beatty, both of Richmond, Ind., and Mary Martin of Danville, Ind.; a brother, Allen Bert Angy of Satellite Beach, Fla., and five grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Crossroads United Methodist Church.

Ida Mae Barnes, 71, of Memphis, retired from Shelby County Health Care Center, died Sunday at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. Services will be at noon Friday at Union Baptist Church on East Brooks, where she was a member of the usher board and Pastor's Loving Club, with burial in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Barnes, the widow of King David Barnes, leaves a daughter, Gwendolyn Barnes Horner of Memphis; two sisters, Dorothy Barnes Hunter of Memphis and Juanita Barnes of Coldwater, Miss.; three brothers, Larry Beal and Decarlos Beal, both of Memphis, and Willis Barnes Jr. of Coldwater, and a grandson who helped care for her, Richard Horner of Memphis.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran and a graduate of Yale University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Mr. Gompertz, the widower of Elaine Stern Gompertz, leaves a son, Michael L. Gompertz Jr. of Fairfax Station, Va., and a sister, Louise Stern of New Rochelle, N.Y.
