Donald W. Kerns, 72, of Bald Knob, Ark., formerly of Memphis, retired Marine Corps master gunnery sergeant and justice of the peace for White County (Ark.) Quorum Court, died Wednesday at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Forest Hill cemetery East. He was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran and a 20-year volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Kerns, the husband of Margarette S. Kerns for 54 years, also leaves four daughters, Donna Kerns and Pamela Finney, both of Memphis, Tracy Hopper of Batesville, Miss., and Jill Lawson of Bald Knob; a son, John F. Kerns of Austria; his mother, Sarah Kerns of Mount Morris, Pa.; two sisters, Jean Renner and Linda Short, both of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Raymond Kerns and George Kerns, both of Utah, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Alma Moore, 38, of Memphis, cashier for Kroger, died Saturday at Methodist North Hospital. Services will be at noon Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church on Church Road with burial in Greenview cemetery in Nesbit. N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home has charge. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ. Mrs. Moore, the wife of Reginald Moore, also leaves two sons, Reginald Moore Jr. and Isaiha Moore; three sisters, Gloria Griffin, Sherron Thompson and Stephanie Hill, and a brother, Charles Hill, all of Memphis.

Dorothy Mae Noel, 51, of Memphis, died Wednesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at noon Monday at N.H. Owens & Son Funeral Home with burial in New Park cemetery. She leaves a daughter, Teresa Noel, and a son, Victor Love, and three brothers, Earl Hassell Jr., Earnest Noel and James Lee Noel, all of Memphis, and eight grandchildren.

Wilburn Joe Owens, 66, of Millington, retired truck driver for Shelby County Highway Department, died Wednesday at Methodist North Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Casey Funeral Home in Henderson, Tenn., with burial in Refuge cemetery in McNairy County, Tenn. He was a member of Rosemark Pentecostal Church. Mr. Owens, the husband of Chere Ledesma Owens, also leaves four sisters, Ernestine Minor of Olive Branch, Imagene Owens and Mary Hazelgrove, both of Memphis, and Bobbie Ware of Atoka, and three brothers, Fred Owens Jr. of Bethel Springs, Tenn., James Wade Owens of Saginaw, Mich., and Jerry Wayne Maness of Memphis.

Edward 'Frog' Porter, 57, of Memphis, died Monday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home with burial at 10 a.m. Monday in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. Mr. Porter, the husband of Glenda Porter, also leaves three daughters, Pamela Requel Porter and Michelle Cobbs, both of Memphis, and Robin Lynette Porter of Texas; three sons, Kevin Edward Porter Jr., Eric Elandus Porter and Roosevelt Cobbs, and his father, Lee Russell Porter, all of Memphis; six sisters, Charlene Wright, Sylvia Porter, Lois Johnson, Diane Ambrose and Deborah Harrison, all of Memphis, and Shirley Howard of Lexington, Ky.; four brothers, Grady Harrison, Willie Harrison, Robin Harrison and Willie Maurice Porter, all of Memphis, and 12 grandchildren.

Evellina Scott Thomas, 57, of Memphis, homemaker, died Saturday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Norris Church of Christ with burial in Galilee Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Thomas, the widow of Roosevelt Thomas, leaves three daughters, Teresa Young and Evelyn Holly, both of Memphis, and Trena Brown of Holcomb, Miss.; two sons, Christopher Jones of Seattle and Roland Jones III of Memphis; her mother, Mary Jackson, and a sister, Clara Jackson, both of Milwaukee, and two brothers, David Jackson and Eugene Jackson, both of Nashville.

Luther Curtis Thompson Jr., 41, of Memphis, purchasing clerk for Shelby County Sheriff's Department, died Tuesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Community of Faith Christian Church with burial in Union cemetery in Millington. Thompson's Mortuary in Ripley, Tenn., has charge. He leaves his mother, J. Annettee Thompson, and a sister, Taunya Thompson, both of Memphis.

Clarence D. Tucker, 83, of Memphis, retired barber, died Wednesday at Methodist South Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Bellevue Baptist Church on Crockett with burial in Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home has charge. He was an Army veteran and a Baptist. Mr. Tucker, the husband of Glossie Tucker, also leaves three sons, James C. Tucker and Clarence D. Tucker Jr., both of Memphis, and Lawrence D. Tucker of New York; a sister, Ora Lee Medley of Memphis, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
