Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
Stephen Sturdivant Jr., the son of Claudett Hollins of Memphis and Stephen Sturdivant of West Memphis, died at birth April 26 at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home in West Memphis with burial in Paradise Garden in Edmondson, Ark. He also leaves two sisters, Qautaunoya Giles of Memphis and Shardee Sturdivant of West Memphis, and his grandparents, Annie Hollins of Memphis, and Jessie Sturdivant and Ida Sturdivant, both of Detroit.

Teddy J. Tatum, 68, of Bartlett, retired Memphis firefighter after 23 years, died Sunday at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was an Army veteran, a Mason, and member of Ellendale Baptist Church and International Association of Firefighters. Mr. Tatum, the husband of Katherine Scott Tatum for 45 years, also leaves a daughter, Vicky Lynn Stroud of Bartlett; a sister, Betty Ann Watson of Memphis, and a granddaughter.

Wendell Turner, 75, of Memphis, retired truck driver, died Friday at Methodist University Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Robinhood Lane Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial in National cemetery. M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home has charge. Mr. Turner, the husband of Jacqueline Turner, also leaves four daughters, Barbara Green of Richland, Wash., Anita Green of Kennewick, Wash., Yvette Williams of Atlanta and Ladawn Bowers of Memphis; a son, Kenneth Turner, and two sisters, Hattie Alexander and Earline Terry, all of Memphis, 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Atoka --John P. Carey, 61, retired pipe fitter for Automatic Heating & Service Co., died Sunday at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East in Memphis with burial in Forest Hill cemetery East there. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. Mr. Carey, the husband of Gwen F. Carey for 38 years, also leaves a son, John P. Carey Jr. of Covington; three sisters, Earlene Emling of Michigan, Judy Strong of Roscoe, Ill., and Peggy Carey of Honolulu, Hawaii; two brothers, Robert Carey of Harrisburg, Ark., and Danny Carey of Marked Tree, Ark., and two granddaughters. The family requests that any memorials be sent to American Diabetes Association.

Bethel Springs -- Myrtle L. Kunkes, 69, billing clerk, died April 25 at Magnolia Regional Healthcare. Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer has charge. She leaves two daughters, Pamela Hernandez of Bethel Springs and Cynthia O'Brien of Crestwood, Ill.; two sons, John Kunkes and Lawrence W. Kunkes Jr., both of Las Vegas, and 12 grandchildren.

Covington -- Lois Pickens Miller, 99, retired elementary school teacher, died Sunday at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 70 years and member of WMU, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Miller, the widow of John Ashley Miller, leaves two daughters, Laura Hall and Mary Alice Pinner, and a son, Bill Miller, all of Covington, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. The family requests that any memorials be sent to First Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Covington -- Annie Lee Roach, 94, homemaker, died Sunday at Covington Care. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with burial in Elm Grove cemetery. She was a member of Covington Assembly of God. Mrs. Roach, the widow of Earnest Roach, leaves three daughters, Helen Cunningham of Memphis, and Martha Billings and Cindy Lindsey, both of Covington; a son, Danny Roach of Covington; three sisters, Mary Max of Covington, and Hazel Jackson and Alma Bryson, both of Brighton; a brother, L.B. 'Buddy' Glass of Burlison, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Owens & Son Funeral Home in Memphis has charge. He was an Air Force veteran. Mr. Lockett, the widower of Shirley J. Lockett, leaves a son, Calvin Lockett of Memphis; his mother, Jannie B. Lockett of Grand Junction; two sisters, Bobbie B. Murden of Memphis and Estelle Bridges of Chicago, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
