James Edward Nelson, 84, of Memphis, retired from the Army, died Saturday at his home. Family Funeral Care has charge. He was a member of Normal Lodge, Scottish Rite and Colonial Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Nelson, the widower of Sarita Nelson, leaves a daughter, Judy Nelson Bond; two sons, Jim David Nelson and Jeff Nelson, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Somerville -- Mildred 'Mickey' Creddle Darnell Bobbitt, 72, former employee of Master Sporting Goods in Collierville and Troxel Manufacturing Co. in Moscow, died Saturday at her daughter's home in Oakland. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home with burial in Macon cemetery. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She leaves two daughters, Teresa Bobbitt and Vanessa Shepherd, both of Oakland; a son, Danny Darnell of Mount Pleasant, Miss.; a sister, Christine Gordon of Pontotoc, Miss.; a brother, Paul Creddle of Byhalia, Miss., 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mary M. Beggs, 73, of Memphis, formerly of Cross and St. Francis counties, Ark., homemaker, died Saturday in Little Rock. Mrs. Beggs, the widow of William Melvin Beggs, leaves a daughter, Betty Woods of Wynne; two sons, Gary Lee Beggs of Lake Wales, Fla., and Ronnie Joe Beggs of Memphis; two brothers, Johnny Henderson and William Edward Henderson, both of Colt, Ark., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memory Hill Gardens. He was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Booker, the husband of Anita J. Booker, also leaves a daughter, Pamela V. Goulet of Kent, Wash.; three sons, Wallace J. Booker and John T. Booker, both of Memphis, and William P. Booker of Antioch, Ill.; two stepsons, Ronald Traller and Keith A. Traller, both of Memphis; three sisters, Roberta Battaglia of Lake Villa, Ill., June Carroll of Round Lake, Ill., and Mary Weichers of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, William Booker of Cordele, Ga., three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
