Middleton - Thomas B. Burnette, 19, of Middleton, died Tuesday morning, July 12, at Bolivar General Hospital. Born May 22, 1986, to Ken and Sandra Jenkins Burnette of Middleton, he worked at the Glasteel Corporation in Moscow. Burnette graduated Middleton H. S. in 2004 with honors in band and played football and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Bolivar chapel with burial in West Memorial cemetery. In addition to his parents, survivors include 2 sisters, Katie and her husband John Beibers of Jackson, and Sarah Burnette of Middleton; his grandmother Margie Burnette of Saulsbury; and a niece and nephew Lexi and Will Beibers of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Thomas & Peggy Jenkins and Robert Burnette.

Claude "Mick" Clemmer, 78, of Bartlett, died July 27, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cora Clemmer; a grandson, Jeremy Daugherty of Cordova; a sister, Elizabeth Kennedy of Olive Branch; and his brother, Edward Clemmer of Memphis. He was preceded in death by his children, Scott Clemmer, Gary Clemmer and Gayle Clemmer Daugherty. Mr. Clemmer was a World War II Army veteran and later retired from General Motors. He was a member of Bartlett Baptist Church. Services will be Saturday, July 30, at 1 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memorial Park cemetery. James W. Horton, 86, of Memphis, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at home. Mr. Horton was retired from International Harvester, World War II Army Veteran and a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church. CHARLES STEPHEN LEINBERG, 61, of Memphis, TN passed away peacefully at the family home in Panama City, FL on Sat. July 16, 2005. He was born on Dec. 9, 1943, a native of Bay Co., FL and was raised in St. Andrews. As a boy he enjoyed fishing with his father who owned and operated the deep sea charter boat WILMA ANN, upon which he developed a great love and respect of the ocean. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict aboard the USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14). later, as a merchant seaman, he enjoyed visiting ports of call around the world, where he came to respect many other cultures. For the last seven years he owned a successful paint contracting business. He was gratefully involved in and a supportive member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was known for his love for his fellowman and knew the full meaning of "Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself" and practiced it daily. He will be remembered for his fondness of pages 86, 87 and 88 of the Big Book. He was loved and respected by many and will be missed by all who knew him. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and Capt. E. C. Leinberg of St. Andrews, FL. He is survived by his sister, Martha A. Barnes of Youngstown, FL, his daughter, Lela Faith Kessler and husband Phillip, granddaughter Isabella, all of Panama City, FL, grandson Stefan A. Leinberg and former wife, Sandy S. Leinberg of Memphis, TN and many loving nephews, nieces and his long gratitude list of extended family in Memphis, TN and many loving nephews, nieces and his long gratitude list of extended family in Memphis. A memorial service will be held at Heartsong Church, 800 North Houston Levee Road, Cordova, TN at 5:00 p.m., Sat., July 30, 2005. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Sonny and at his request, donations should be made to G. S. O. at P.O. Box 2460, Oxford, MS 38655, for literature for the recovery.

Ruth Frances Logan, 91 joined God in Heaven, her husband Al, son Richard, and other family members who were waiting for her to join them on July 26, 2005. Born August 20, 1913 in Sardinia, Ohio, she lived in Memphis, TN for about 50 years before moving to Wears Valley to live with her family. She was the joy and being of her family and friends, former member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church, current member of Wears Valley United Methodist Church, founder and member of Proctor and Gamble Ladies' Bridge and Sewing Clubs, a lover of animals and wildlife, and an avid gardener. Surviving family members include a son, Robert(Bob); a daughter, Kathy; grandchildren, Dawn Orwiler, Chris Logan, Heidi Skinner, Huy Logan, Whitney Vaughan; 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous animal companions. A celebration of Ruth's Life will be held Sunday July 31, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Wears Valley United Methodist Church with family visitation afterward in the Family Life Center. Interment icon Services will be held Tuesday August 2, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Park (Memphis) with family visitation from 2-4 p.m. The family requests memorials be sent to either Wears Valley United Methodist Church or Idlewild Presbyterian Church.

Pearl Elizabeth "Boots" McConnaughhay, 81, of Memphis, TN, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Methodist Hospital North. She was a homemaker. She is the widow of J.W. "Mac" McConnaughhay. She is survived by her son, Terry Pope of Memphis. She is preceded in death by her son Craig McConnaughhay. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Lauren McConnaughhay of Memphis, Dagny Edwards of Olive Branch, MS. and Ethan Pope of Memphis; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jenna and Joshua Edwards both of Olive Branch, MS. William Gates Sternberger, 83, of Memphis, died July 27, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Hartfield Sternberger; children, Esther Dafner of Bene Beraq, Israel, Nancy Rosenberg of Memphis, Bill Sternberger of New York City and Judy Mosely of Alabaster, Al.; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Mr. Sternberger also leaves his sister, Marian Elizabeth Cohn of Nashville. He retired after 32 years with Cleo Wrap. He was a member of the Germantown Kiwanis Club, Association of Purchasing Managers and a member of Temple Israel. Mr. Sternberger was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater on The Intrepid. Graveside Services are today at 1:30 p.m. at Temple Israel.
