Minnie Ruth Brown
13 July 1924 - 27 November 2009

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Ruth Brown, age 85, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Gay officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln cemetery beside her husband Phi Brown. Mrs. Brown passed away Friday afternoon at Donalson Care Center.

A native of Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Bessie Mae Bell Liner McKin, formerly employed with Serbin Manufacturing, and a member of Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons Charles Brown and wife Barbara and Randall Brown all of Fayetteville, sister Louise Billion of Harvest, AL, brothers Aaron McKin and wife Euthemia and Reed McKin and wife Emogene all of Fayetteville, grandson Wayne Brown and wife Mary Ellen of Estill Springs, great-grandchildren Leah and Lucas Brown and sister-in-law Violet McKin.

Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Monday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.

Gaynelle (Wright) (Bates) Gibson
27 December 1918 - 24 December 2009

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Gaynelle (Wright) (Bates) Gibson, age 91, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11 AM Monday at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Mrs. Gibson passed away Thursday morning, December 24, at her residence.

A daughter of the late Grady Wright, Sr. and Ailene McNatt Wright, she was a native of Lincoln County, owner/operator of Sun Rose Dairy, retired from Lincoln County Hospital, and a member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children Jane Johnson and husband Clyde, C.N. Bates and wife Barbara, Robert Bates and wife Brenda of Leheigh Acres, Fl, step-son Steve Gibson and wife Deborah, three step-daughters of Colorado, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, sister Sue Sullivan, and sister-in-law Polly Wright Konda. She was preceded in death by her first husband Carlos Bates and second husband R.M. Gibson.

Visitation with the family will be from 4-8 PM Sunday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.

Mack Taylor
4 February 1917 - 29 December 2009

Funeral services for Mr. Mack Taylor, age 92, of Fayetteville will be conducted Thursday at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Dana Crowell and Rev. Kirk Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s cemetery beside his wife Florence Curtis Taylor who passed away in 2000. Mr. Taylor passed away Tuesday December 29th..

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Charles S. and Birdie Tucker Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII where he was a awarded the Purple Heart, a retired truck driver with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and was a member of the Dellrose Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter Deann Gleghorn of Petersburg, three grandchildren Paula Coble and husband Eric, David Gleghorn and companion Misty Cunningham and Ricky Gleghorn, great grandchildren Nathan Gleghorn, Patrick and Hanna Coble, Kayla and Amiee Gleghorn and Dylan Cunningham.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 4-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Rayford Lee Crabtree
26 August 1920 - 1 January 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Rayford Lee Crabtree, age 89, of Petersburg will be conducted at 2 PM Monday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Stone and Bro. Ellis Coats officiating. Burial will follow in Pigg cemetery beside his wife of 63 years, Deane Rhodes Crabtree. Mr. Crabtree passed away Friday evening, January 1st at Lincoln Care Center.

A son of the late Ernest Lee and Bessie Jane Casteel Crabtree, he was a native of Lincoln County, a farmer, and a lifetime member of Friendship Church of Christ.

Survivors include daughters Pam Mills and husband Mike and Michelle Decker and husband Donny, both of Petersburg, sons Randall Crabtree and wife Jolene of Petersburg and Ray Crabtree and wife Brenda of Columbia, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson Charles Hubert Crabtree.

Visitation with the family will be from 3-6 PM Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pigg cemetery, C/O Dannie Decker, 47 Pigg Road, Petersburg, TN or Friendship Church of Christ.

William Phillip "Bill" Towry
1 November 1923 - 15 February 2010

Funeral services for William Phillip “Bill” Towry, age 86, of Hondo, TX, formerly of Fayetteville will be conducted Monday at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Don Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Mr. Towry passed away Monday February 15th in Texas.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late John Ewin and Mary Julia McAlister Towry. Mr. Towry was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force, and was a minister and member of the church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife Estelle Vann Towry of Texas, sons David Towry of Lytle, TX, and William Philip Towry, Jr. of Terlingua, TX and daughter Marlene McPartlin of San Antonio, TX, two brothers Paul Towry of San Antonio, TX and J.E. Towry of Fayetteville, and three sisters Anita Cowley, Ruth Jennings and Patsy Monks all of Fayetteville, five grandchildren Rose Lambert, Garrett Towry, Tonia Rys, Candace McPartlin and Dania Durham and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Monday morning from 9-11AM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Ruth (Maddox) Daves
15 February 1930 - 28 February 2010

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth (Maddox) Daves age 80 of Fayetteville will be conducted Wednesday at 10AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Gaskill and Rev Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Unity cemetery beside her husband Jack Daves who passed away in 2003. Mrs. Daves passed away Sunday February 28th at Donaldson Care Center.

She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Thomas and Ada Mae Robertson Maddox, a retired bank teller for Union National Bank and a member of the Howell Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include three daughters Donna Dyer, Dianne Daves and Debra Jenkins all of Fayetteville, four grandchildren Keri Dyer, Jamie Wolfe, John M. Dyer and Lainie Jenkins and three great grandchildren Alex Dyer, Savanna Brown and Ava Freeman. Mrs. Daves was preceded in death by her husband Jack Daves and son Jack Daves Jr.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 4-7 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Larry Ray Mickey
13 December 1948 - 5 March 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Ray Mickey, age 61, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Ostryski officiating. Burial will follow in Stewarts cemetery. Mr. Mickey passed away Friday morning at his residence.

A son of the late George Mickey and Louise Allison Bennett and husband Bob who survive, he was as native of Harrisburg, PA, a Vietnam Veteran serving in the Army, and employed with H and W Transfer.

In addition to his mother and step-father, survivors include his daughters Susan Newcomb of Fayetteville and Stephenie Traglia of Huntsville, son Kevin Mickey of Fayetteville, grandchildren Ashley and Dillon Traglia, Jacob and Cody Newcomb, Taylor, Jordyn, and Katlyn Mickey, brothers Wayne and Allen Mickey both of PA, and sisters Marsha Mickey and Cheryl Stufft, both of PA.

Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Monday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.

David Andrew Selby
23 October 1980 - 22 March 2010

Funeral services for Mr. David Andrew Selby, age 29, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 2PM Friday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Green officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Mr. Selby died Monday night.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of Bob and Maria Selby and was employed as a contractor.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his brothers and sisters, Michael Selby of Taft, Robenna Hernandez of San Diego, CA, Erika Konyndyk of Flintville, Jessica Ellis of Fayetteville and Paul Selby of Fayetteville, aunts and uncles Erika and Lou Balatoni of Fayetteville, Joseph and Odakay Balatoni of Arlington, TX and Richard Selby of Pasadena, CA and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Friday from noon until time of services at 2PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Lela Locker
27 October 1915 - 3 April 2010

Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Locker, age 94, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Locker passed away Saturday evening at Lincoln Care Center.

A daughter of the late Jimmy and Mary Neely Monks, she was a native of Lincoln County, employed with Serbin Manufacturing for over 40 years, and a member of Washington Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son James Loyd Locker and wife Barbara of Fayetteville, daughter-in-law Gracie Locker of Fayetteville, sisters Pauline Chapman and Evelyn Hughes both of Lincoln County, and grandchildren Joey Locker and wife Fran of Fayetteville, Lana Mason and husband Chris of Brentwood, and Dana Ertler and husband John of Ocoee, FL, six great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Locker and son Joe Locker.

Visitation with the family will be from 12-2 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home.

Oscar Eudene "O.E" Howard
31 October 1924 - 10 April 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Eudene “O.E.” Howard age 85, of Lynchburg, formerly of Kelso, will be conducted Tuesday at 1 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Richards Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Kelso cemetery. Mr. Howard passed away Saturday evening at Donalson Skill Care Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Howard was the son of the late Floyd and Lillie Haraway Howard, a native of Rogersville, AL, retired from Redstone Arsenal where he was a member of the civilian guard. He drove a bus for Lincoln County schools and was a member of Liberty Church of Christ. He spent his entire life farming; he loved it with a passion. He loved church and leading the singing, and he was a member of the Lincoln County Democrat Organization. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years Hilda Sullenger Howard of Fayetteville, daughters Kay Honey and husband Anthony of Lynchburg, Jana Bertus and husband Roscoe of Huntsville, grandchildren Robyn Honey Fletcher and husband Paul of Lynchburg, and Neil Honey and wife Julie of Kingston, TN, great-grandchildren Ben, Maecy and Katy Fletcher, sister Thetus Inman of Athens, AL and brother Bobby Howard and wife Marvelyn of Athens, AL.

Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Those serving as pallbearers are Kevin Burton, Kyle Burton, Kenneth Golden, Trent Thomas, Tim Smith, Paul Fletcher, and Master Ben Fletcher.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Fayetteville Lincoln County Humane Society, or National Parkinson’s Association.
