Wilma (Melson) Swing
6 September 1930 - 26 July 2008

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma M. Swing, age 77, of Fayetteville, will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Melson cemetery. Mrs. Swing passed away Saturday at her residence.

A daughter of the late Willie Gray and Ester Creson Melson, she was a native of Lincoln County, retired from Genesco after almost 50 years of service, and was a member of Mt. Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Belleville.

Survivors include her husband Clifford Swing of Fayetteville, step-daughter Pamela Clayton of Fayetteville, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM until time of service Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home.

Roy Fay Johnson
21 April 1936 - 15 August 2008

It is with regret that we announce the death of Mr. Roy Fay Johnson, age 72, of Fayetteville. Mr. Johnson passed away Friday evening at Lincoln Medical Center.

A son of the late Benny and Bertha Counts Johnson, he was a native of Mt. Hope, AL, retired as a millwright with the Johns Manville Company, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Dyberg Johnson of Fayetteville, son Roy F. Johnson of Racine, WI, daughters Sherry and Shirley Johnson both of Racine, WI, sons Richard D. Willie (Shirley) and Kenneth Willie both of Kenosha, WI, daughters Colette Krupinski (Wes) of Kenosha, WI, and Gwendolyn Ramsdell (Paul) of Clinton, WI, and son Gregory Willie (Lynn) of Kenosha, WI, grandson Shane Johnson of Racine, WI, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brothers Waylon and Aaron and sister Theoline.

There will be no services at the funeral home for Mr. Johnson.

Higgins Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Roy Fay Johnson.

James Scott Fee
10 August 1961 - 18 August 2008

Funeral services for Mr. James Scott Fee, age 47, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11AM Thursday at the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Dr. Calvin Todd officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. Fee died Monday in an auto accident.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of James and Ruby Osteen Fee. He was an employee of Network Industries, a Deacon at the A.R.P. Church and served on the Little League Baseball Board.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife Vickie Colbert Fee of Fayetteville, children Sydney, James and Carly Fee all of Fayetteville, two sisters Jan Little and Cheri Fee both of Nashville, one brother Christopher Fee of Nashville, mother-in-law Shelby Colbert, brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from after 5PM at the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services and visitation will be held at the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Higgins Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Cleveland Shelton
3 May 1923 - 27 August 2008

Funeral services for Mr. Cleveland Shelton, age 85, of Fayetteville will be conducted Friday at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Shelton passed away Wednesday in Lincoln Medical Center.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Aubry and Lillian Sullivan Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during WW II and a retired contractor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Fayetteville Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife Dean Sweeney Shelton, daughter Pam (Jimmy) Corder of Athens, AL, son Danny (Barbara) Shelton of Fayetteville, grandchildren Will and Lean Noojin of Huntsville and Jenny and Megan Shelton of Fayetteville, three sisters Edith Mitchell, Mable Woodard and Janie West all of Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by brothers Bill and Levoy Shelton and sister Nell Shelton.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Fayola (Simmons) Nelson
8 December 1937 - 10 September 2008

Funeral services for Mrs. Fayola (Simmons) Nelson, age 70, of Elora will be conducted Saturday morning at 10 AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro Winifred Stayton officiating. Burial will follow in Gum Springs cemetery. Mrs. Nelson passed away Wednesday at Baptist Hospital.

A daughter of the late Jim and Leona Simmons, she was a native of Lincoln County, a homemaker, and a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Everett O.C. Nelson, sons Clifford and Christopher Wayne Nelson both of Flintville, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and sisters Ruby Johnson of Orlinda, TN, Violet Mathias of Poplar Bluff, MO, Hilda May of Lowell, IN, Lilly Groves of Portland, TN, and June Sisk of Lincoln.

Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Friday at Higgins Funeral Home.

Eileen K. Schumacher

It is with regret we announce the death of Mrs. Eileen Kean Schumacher of 208 Jeffery Drive Fayetteville who passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 in Donalson Care Center following a long illness.

A native of Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late John Lyon and Grace Pauline Ross Kean and the wife of C. Lewis Schumacher, who survives. Mrs. Schumacher was a member of the Unity Church in Huntsville.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Schumacher is survived by a daughter: Cheryl Louise Johnson and husband Lynn of Cedar Rapids, IA, a son: Keith Schumacher and wife Pattie of Fayetteville, TN, a sister: Rosa Lee Jones of Covina, CA, grandchildren: Tara Thomas and husband Trent of Petersburg, TN, Tami Darnell and husband Chris of Fayetteville, TN, Mark Johnson and Matt Johnson and wife: Jessica all of Cedar Rapids, IA, two great-grandchildren: Carrington Elizabeth Thomas of Petersburg, TN and Jaxen Paul Johnson of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Higgins Funeral Home is assisting the family of Eileen K. Schumacher.

Robert John Chobert
Died Oct. 14, 2008

Memorial services for Mr. Robert John Chobert, age 60, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 6 PM Friday at Higgins Funeral Home. Mr. Chobert passed away Tuesday morning, October 14, at Donalson Care Center.

A son of the late Charles and Alma Zuck Chobert, he was a native of Philadelphia, PA, formerly a plant manager at Franke Manufacturing, and a veteran of the United States Marines serving in Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Ann Somershoe Chobert of Fayetteville, son Robert J. Chobert, Jr. of Maryland, daughter Lorie A. McCann of Pennsylvania, brother Charles Chobert of Pennsylvania, and grandchildren Austin K. and Molly May McCann both of Pennsylvania.

The Chobert family respectfully request that no flowers be sent, but donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to services.

Willie Ray Mitchell
25 November 1944 - 30 October 2008

Funeral services for Mr. Willie Ray Mitchell, age 63, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. David Durham officiating. Burial will follow in Blanche cemetery. Mr. Mitchell passed away Thursday morning October 30 at his residence.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Jack Mitchell and Ruby Bradford Mitchell who survives. Mrs. Mitchell was a veteran of the U. S. Army, a truck driver and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his mother include a son Keith Mitchell of Fayetteville, two daughters Susan Mitchell and Rosemary Mitchell Tankersly both of Fayetteville, a loving aunt, Patsy Brewer of Fayetteville, special friends Wanda Powell, Mark Lard, Troy Sullens, Gerald Todd, Rex Campbell, Larry Campbell, Sarah Sims, Vincent Hawkins, Paulette Evans (Brown) and Ken Gault, four grandson Jordan Smartt, Nick Woodard, Spencer Gault and Blaze Tankersley and one granddaughter Kendrea Gault.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Faye Lynn Jones Bostick
7 January 1939 - 9 December 2008

Funeral services for Mrs. Faye Lynn Jones Bostick, age 69, of Elora will be conducted at 1PM Thursday at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Henry Earl McPeters officiating. Burial will follow in Bostick cemetery. Mrs. Bostick passed away Tuesday morning December 9th at Lincoln Care Center.

She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late William Lafayette and Maggie Hambrick Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Nathan Bostick of Elora, daughter Patsy Mitchell of Elora, three sons Mark (Stephanie) Bostick of Elora, Johnny Brumlow and Billy Joe Brumlow both of Fayetteville, brother Giles Jones and wife Sandy of Fayetteville, Sister Dorothy Jacks of Elora, nine grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Mary Jacks.

Those serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Brumlow, James Bostick, Joshua Pitts, Jeremy Thomas, Joe Pamplin and Kevin Redman.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 4-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Richard Dean "Dickie" Askins
6 February 1946 - 19 November 2008

Funeral services for Mr. Richard D. (Dickie) Askins, age 62 of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11AM Friday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. Askins passed away Wednesday November 19 at Lincoln Medical Center.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of William R. Askins Sr. and Dean Smith Askins who survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, office manager of Askins Publishing Company and a member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother Dean Askins of Fayetteville, brother Bill Askins Jr of Fayetteville, nieces and nephews Shawn Askins of Knoxville, Dawn Dixon of Fayetteville, Luke Askins of Maynardville, TN, Amana Franks of Fayetteville and Andrea Askins of Memphis and six great nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday 5-8PM Thursday at Higgins Funeral Home.
