Herman Aaron Hicks
Funeral Services for Mr. Herman Aaron Hicks, 76, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 30, 1999, from the chapel of the Livingston Funeral Home with Earl Williams officiating. Burial was in Crawford cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hicks, a farmer, died Thursday, May 27, 1999 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 22, 1922, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Dora (Carwile) Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ola Benton, Norma Hunt, and Alma Dees; six brothers, Thurman Hicks, Roy Hicks, Cleveland Hicks, Willis Hicks, Willard Hicks, and William Hicks.

Survivors include three sisters, Velma Denney, Lafayette, Allie Vaughn, Indianapolis, IN, and Sylvia Hunt, Nashville; and four brothers, Fowler Hicks, Cookeville, James Hicks, Hartsville, Howard Hicks and Homer Hicks both of New Castle, IN.

Pallbearers were Chris Hicks, Kelly Hicks, Stanley Thompson, Andy Hicks, Larry Brown, and Donnie Hoots.

Edith Olen Rogers Beasley
Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Olen Rogers Beasley, 77, of Carthage, and formerly of Alpine, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby White officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Beasley died Thursday, May 23 at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Center Point Freewill Baptist Church and Eastern Star in Livingston.

Born May 15, 1925, in Fentress County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Etta Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey F. Rogers; two sisters, Naomi Allred and Celia Cooper; and two brothers, Frank Cooper and Joel Cooper.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Edd Blair, Carthage; a brother, Floyd Cooper, Jamestown; a sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Herlin Lacy, Alpine; a granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Jerry Sullivan, Algood; a step granddaughter and her husband, Trevy and Kevin Massey, Carthage; two great grandsons, Nev Sullivan and Kade Sullivan, both of Algood; two step great grandchildren, Michael Massey and Krystal Massey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers were Chris Delk, Ricky Lacy, Homer Delk, Jeff Short, Randall Allred, and Jerry Sullivan.

William R. Bowling
Funeral services for Mr. William R. Bowling, 77, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, from the chapel of Davis Funeral Home in Oakvale, WV, with Ronnie Shupe of Pennsylvania and Archie Bowling of West Virginia officiating. Burial was in the Elgood cemetery in Elgood, WV, with Rickman-Hall Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Bowling died Tuesday, May 21 at his home. He served in the Army, attended the Bible Baptist Church in Rickman, and was a mail carrier for the Postal Service.

Born March 24, 1925, in Matoaka, WV, he was the son of the late Wiley Edward and Rachel S. (Taylor) Bowling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Cochran; and a granddaughter, Debra Pohorence.

Survivors include his wife, Pansy Easter Bowling, Cookeville; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Mary Bowling, Doyle, Glen and Judy Bowling, Virginia, and John and B.J. Bowling, Colorado; four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Don Gaumont, Rickman, Brenda and Joe Pohorence, and Sheila and Bob Dick, all of Florida, and Rita and Don Shupe, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Alta Wimmer and Clara Pettie, both of West Virginia; a brother, John Eldridge Bowling, West Virginia; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Roden C. Cravens
Funeral services for Mr. Roden C. Cravens, 71, of Wedgewood Drive in Columbia, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, from the chapel of Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Barwick and Rev. Bob Wells officiating. Burial was in the Polk Memorial Gardens with Williams Columbia Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cravens died Monday, May 20 at Maury Regional Hospita. He retired from Anderson Mattress Company in 1977, served as deacon for two Free Will Baptist churches in Anderson, IN, sung in three gospel quartets, and was a member of the Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Columbia.

Born in Livingston, he was the son of the late Albert and Ada (Garrett) Cravens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, R.V. Cravens, Arlie Cravens, and Owen Cravens; and a grandson, Brandon Cravens.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Corene (Bilbrey) Cravens, Columbia; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Gary Huntzinger, Spring Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Robyn Cravens, Rockvale; a sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Edward Carr, Anderson, IN; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Roy and Freddie Cravens, McMinnville, and Hughey Cravens, Anderson, IN; and four grandchildren, two with spouses, Barry and Cynthia Huntzinger, Columbia, Ryan Huntzinger, Spring Hill, Joshua Cravens, Murfreesboro, and Victoria and Andy Baker, Cookeville. Pallbearers were John Neely, Phillip Parrish, Buddy Creel, Tommy Stanfill, John Nuby, and Rulen Griggs. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the men of the Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

Anna May Greig
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna May Greig, 94, of the Okolona Community of Overton County, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, from the chapel of Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson, IN, with Father Edward Dhondt officiating. Burial was in the Anderson Memorial Park with Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Greig died Sunday, May 19 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.

Born June 10, 1907, in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Carrie (Corrigan) Vaslet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Greig; five brothers, Albert Vaslet, Howard Vaslet, Edward Vaslet, George Vaslet, and Milton Vaslet; and three sisters, Laura Vaslet, Carrie Vaslet, and Doris Holcomb.

Survivors include a daughter and her fiancee, Carrie Huffman and Deloy Hinson, Okolona Community; a brother, Charles Vaslet, Rhode Island; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Huffman, Greensburge, IN, and Michael Huffman, Indianapolis, IN; and one great grandchild, Alexander J. Noland, Anderson, IN.

Ronald Dale Holt
Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Dale Holt, 46, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Minister Clyde Cunningham officiating. Burial was in McDonald cemetery in Hilham with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Holt died Sunday, May 26 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He attended college for four years, was a State of Tennessee Vocational Rehabiliation Counselor, and a member of the Church of God.

Born February 2, 1956, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of Mayford Holt of Hilham and the late Georgia Mae (Fikes) Holt.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include a brother, Daryl Holt, Hilham.

Lela Looper
Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Looper, 75, of Clarkrange, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Michael Swallows and Rev. Raymond Phillips officiating. Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Looper died Friday, May 24 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of University Baptist Church in Beaver Creek, OH.

Born March 16, 1927, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late McCoy and Alba (Bilbrey) Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ruby Jewel Phillips; and a brother, J.P. Phillips.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Looper, Clarkrange; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Dale and Linda Elaine Looper, Fairborn, OH; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Anna Lee Cantrell, Dayton, OH, Lena and Ezra Wilson, Beaver Creek, OH, and Bonnie Jean and Gentry Miller, Xenia, OH; a brother, Roy Bethel Phillips, Clarkrange; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Perry and Nannie Looper, Clarkrange, Doyle and Beatrice Looper and John Leland and Dimple Looper, all of Monterey, Gerald and Vickie Looper, Anderson, IN, Lorn and Jewel Looper, Chattanooga, and Bobby and Claudia Looper, Wilkerson, IN; three grandsons and two grand- daughters-in-law, Joshua Dale Looper, Steven Richard and Michelle Looper, and Daniel Wayne and April Looper; and two great grandchildren, Cheyanne Looper and Autumn Looper.

Hazel Norrod
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Norrod, 78, of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, from Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ovle Tinch and Rev. Billy Joe Hedgecough officiating. Burial was in the Hanging Limb cemetery with Goff Funeral Home of Monterey in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Norrod died Wednesday, May 22 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.

Born July 28, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Nellie (Key) Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Ivor Bowman, Cortes Bowman, Clarence Bowman, Clayton Bowman, Harshel Bowman, and Marce Bowman.

Survivors include her husband, Barton Norrod, Hanging Limb; two daughters, Glenda Sue Norrod and Sherry Lynn Norrod, both of Hanging Limb; a son, Richard Norrod, Murfreesboro; a sister, Roxie Walker, Hanging Limb; a brother, A.G. Bowman, Hanging Limb; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Helen Ruth Qualls
Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Ruth Qualls, 90, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziehmer, Rev. Jesse Bradshaw, and Rev. Dee Ledford officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Qualls died Tuesday, May 21 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired school teacher and librarian, a member of the First Christian Church, Livingston Civic and Garden Club, Historical Society, Overton County Retired Teachers Association, and was Overton County Historian for many years.

Born August 13, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Elvin A. and Cora Poteet Qualls.

Survivors include two sisters, Lois Warren and Clarice Qualls, both of Livingston; a nephew, Bill Warren, Livingston; and two great nephews, Pat Warren and Jay Warren, both of Livingston. Pallbearers were James Hunter, Jerry Windle, P.H. Windle, Jr., Harold Stockton, Pat Warren, and Jay Warren.

Kermit Carl Sells
Funeral services for Mr. Kermit Carl Sells, 75, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Hufstedler officiating. Burial was in Flatt Creek cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sells died Thursday, May 23 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was an interior decorator, affiliated with Flatt Creek Church of Christ, and a Veteran of World War II serving in the Army.

Born December 19, 1926, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Ed and Cora (Coffee) Sells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hank Sells, Oscar Sells, Jim Sells, and Howard Sells; and three sisters, Virginia Poston, Mary Smith, and Jessie Sells.

Survivors include his wife, Nelle Frances (Thomas) Sells, Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Harold Brewer, Goodlettsville; a son, Tim Sells, Livingston; four sisters, Ethel Smith, Livingston, Judy Thompson and Betty Lynn, both of Lebanon, and Judy Huser, Middlestown, IN; two brothers, Joe Sells, Anderson, IN, and Jack Sells, Livingston; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Pallbearers were Harold Brewer, Chuck Brown, Lincoln Brown, Mike Gilpatrick, Mike Bonner, and Doug Thomas.

Howard Owen Winningham
Funeral services for Mr. Howard Owen Winningham, 76, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, from Livingston church of Christ with Bro. Kerry Duke and Bro. A.J. Cox officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery with the Honor Guard from Ft. Campbell, KY, performing a military service with full military honors graveside. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Winningham died Tuesday, May 21 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was a farmer and retired from the military. He was also a member of Allons Church of Christ, an Army Veteran of World War II, Vietnam, and the Korean War, and a member of the Livingston Lodge #259, VFW, and American Legion.

Born March 29, 1926, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Bernie and Ellen (Ogletree) Winningham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Winningham and Donald Winningham.

Survivors include his wife, Maydean Winningham, Livingston; three sons, Bobby Winningham and Terry Hutchison, both of Cookeville, and Howard O. Winningham, Los Angeles, CA; four daughters, Sharon Ann Laing, Knoxville, Sabina Winningham, Austin, TX, Rebecca Swank, Oklahoma, and Kim Hutchison, Livingston; a brother, Bernie Edward Winningham, Livingston; two sisters, Shirley Austin, Byrdstown, and Margaret Wesley, Florida; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Ft. Campbell soldiers.
