W.B. "Bill" Horner
Funeral services for Mr. W.B. "Bill" Horner, 94, of Claremore, OK, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Trinity Baptist Church in Claremore, OK, with Rev. Mark Hyskell officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery in Muskogee, OK, with Rice Funeral Service of Claremore, OK, in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Horner, a retired railroad employee, died Sunday, April 30, 2000.

Born September 18, 1905, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Albert Lafayette and Lize Jane (Smith) Horner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Phillips) Horner; five brothers, Johnnie Horner, Georgia Horner, Marcus Horner, Elbert Horner, and Marion Horner; and four sisters, Modenia Hubley, Zula Franklin, Lou Verna Howard, and Syble Flippin.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Claremore, OK.

Survivors include his second wife, Iva Gable Phillips Horner, Claremore, OK; a son and daughter-in-law, W.T. and Margie Horner, San Antonio, TX; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Sue and Gene McDaniel, Tallahassee, FL; his stepchildren, Bob and Shirley Phillips, Hadgen, OK, David and Phyllis Phillips, and Darlene and Lee Main, all of Claremore, OK; and a sister, Ora Davis, Ft. Worth, TX.

Tommy M.C. Harville
Funeral services for Mr. Tommy M.C. Harville, 55, of Baxter, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2000, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home with Bro. Fabron Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery with Baxter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Harville, self-employed owner and operator of Tommy's Auto Sales, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born October 2, 1944, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Melvin Claude and Mary Jane (Hammock) Harville.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Harville, Baxter; two daughters and a friend, Tammy Renee Ragland and Danny Tucker, Baxter, and Cynthia Harville, Cookeville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy Dale and Mendy Harville, Sparta, Danny Lynn and Jennifer Harville, Rickman, Timothy Lee and Amie Harville, and Donnie Lynn and Crystal Harville, all of Baxter; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Willie Geraldine Collier, Baxter, Wanda and Mike Anderson, Brentwood, and Louise Allen, Nashville; a brother and sister-in-law, J.C. and Judy Harville, Baxter; and 11 grandchildren.

Richard Raydell Baird, Sr.
Mr. Richard Raydell Baird, Sr., 58, of Allons, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

The family of Mr. Baird chose cremation with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Baird was a Pacesetter's resident support specialist.

He was also the former owner and director of The Baird Funeral Home in Ft. Pierce, FL.

Born January 27, 1942, in Ft. Pierce, FL, he was the son of Marjorie (Cooper) Baird and the late Milton Baird.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Matthews) Baird, Allons; a daughter, Rebecca Modine, Ft. Pierce, FL; a son, Richard Raydell Baird, Jr., Bradenton, FL; his mother, Marjorie Baird, Allons; two sisters, Loy Dorminey, Allons, and Janine Baird, Marietta, GA; a brother, Dr. Wilbur Baird, Atlanta, GA; and six grandchildren.

Hormon Beecher Wilson
Funeral services for Mr. Hormon Beecher Wilson, 69, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene McCowan and Bro. Gary Davis officiating. Burial was in Harris Chapel cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wilson, a retired maintenance worker with the Overton County school system, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born August 4, 1930, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lanzie and Nan (Looper) Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tinnie Bea (Swallows) Wilson; and four brothers, Clyde Wilson, Claude Wilson, Barlow Wilson, and an infant brother. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Carol and James Dulworth, Rickman; a son and daughter-in-law, James Hollis and Carol Wilson, Rickman; two sisters, Anna Ruth Bowden, Miami, FL, and Reba Webb, San Diego, CA; a brother, Lanzie Wilson Jr., Nashville; two grandchildren, Chastidy Savage and Anthony Wilson; a great grandchild, Kaitlyn Savage; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Rick Phillips, Gary Walker, Richard Wilson, Randy Phillips, Tommy Swallows, and Frank Dial.

Virda Lee (Smith) Arney
Mrs. Virda Lee (Smith) Arney, 84, of Livingston, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

The family of Mrs. Arney chose cremation with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Arney was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Livingston.

Born July 17, 1915, in Smith County, she was the daughter of the late Fed and Maggie (Jones) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Henry Brown, or better known as J.H. Brown.

Survivors include two daughters, Reba Johnson and Betty Jolley, both of Livingston; and 11 grandchildren.

Gearldean Smith
Funeral services for Mrs. Gearldean Smith, 67, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Newsome Harvey officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Smith, a retired accountant for a publishing house, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born February 11, 1932, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late David Clure and Ida Mae Bowman Boswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie D. Smith.

She was affiliated with the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, David Waller, Nashville; a daughter, Sharon Earls, Livingston; two brothers, Bill Boswell, Livingston, and J.D. Boswell, Anderson, IN; a sister, Charlene Goodwin, Akin, SC; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Larry Eakes, Tim Duke, Travis Duke, Alfred Ramirez, Tony Banks, and Ray Kinnard.

Johnnie Lee Cleghorn
Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Lee Cleghorn, 66, of Rickman, were conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2000, from the Rickman chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Self officiating. Burial was in Bear cemetery in Putnam County with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cleghorn, a factory worker, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at his home.

Born June 13, 1933, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Mamie Ramsey Cleghorn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Ellen Allen Cleghorn. He was a member of Marsh Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Randy Cleghorn, Rickman; three daughters, Linda Winningham, Monterey, and Patricia Barksdale and Pamela Palk, both of Cookeville; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Marty Speck, Junior Paul, Jimmy Banks, Ben Winningham, Bill Scott, and Tommy Lee Clinton.

Coy Junior Norris
Funeral services for Mr. Coy Junior Norris, 69, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Copeland officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Norris, a plumber/electrician, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born March 29, 1931, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Robert Terry and Dora Wright Norris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cloie Cravens; and three brothers, Fred Norris, Toby Norris, and James Dude Norris. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a son, David Norris, Livingston; a brother, A.D. Norris, Indianapolis, IN; and four sisters, Flora Cashin, Fayetteville, Lela Cravens, Crawford, and Nora Cravens and Ovalee Johnson, both of Alpine.

Pallbearers were members of the VFW.

Mildred Maxine Clift Brown Cook
Memorial services for Mrs. Mildred Maxine Clift Brown Cook, 75, of Livingston, were conducted at 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. David Harris officiating and Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements .

Mrs. Cook, a retired supervisor at Botany 500, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Overton County Nursing Home.

Born August 6, 1924, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara Gibson Clift.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Brown, Cookeville; a daughter, Barbara Cook Franklin, Hilham; a brother, Billy Clift, Cookeville; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Franklin, Beverly Coates, and Cheri Cobb.

Aaron Thomas "Tommy" Adkins
Funeral services for Mr. Aaron Thomas 'Tommy' Adkins, 58, of Algood, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, January 10, 2001, from the Algood Chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home with Rev. Glea Shelley and Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial will be in the Algood City cemetery with Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Adkins died Monday, January 8, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was employed with the Ross-Gear Division of TRW in Lebanon and attended Algood First Freewill Baptist Church.

Born November 25, 1942, in Overton County, he was the son of Edith (Bilbrey) Adkins of Algood and the late Jessie Frank Adkins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Lee Johnson Adkins.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include four sons and a daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Joy Adkins, Rickman, Aaron Adkins and Michael Adkins, both of Algood, and Danny Johnson, Cookeville; three sisters, Dean Ham, Algood, and Mary Freeman and Katherine Ward, both of Cookeville; and five grandchildren, Paul Adkins, Cody Adkins, Chelsea Adkins, Dalton Adkins, and Lauren Adkins.

Friends of Mr. Adkins served as pallbearers.

Velma Byrd Watts
Funeral services for Mrs. Velma Byrd Watts, 67, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2001, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home in Byrdstown with Jeff Flowers and Rick Cross officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery in Pickett County with Crestlawn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Byrd died Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church in Pickett County.

Born November 10, 1933, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late James Allen and Fannie (Amonett) Byrd.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Watts, Monroe, two daughters and a son-in-law, Joy and Vince Ballard and Wanda Smith, all of Tennessee; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Johnny Jr. and Cheryl Watts and Timothy Watts, all of Ohio; three sisters, Stella Garrett and Wanda Lee, both of Monroe, and Louise Masiongale, New Carlisle, OH; a brother, James Byrd, Byrdstown; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Vincent Ballard, Rick Planicka, Bobby Lee, Thomas Smith, Charlie Leeds, and Terry Byrd.

Murrel Dean (Carter) Wasson
Funeral services for Mrs. Murrel Dean (Carter) Wasson, 71, of Yucca Valley, CA, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2001, at First Southern Baptist Church in Yucca Valley, CA, with Tom Fowler officiating. Burial and graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2001, at the Holly Spring cemetery in Hilham.

Mrs. Wasson died December 30, 2000, in Joshua Tree, CA. She retired from Rockwell International after serving as parts expeditor for 30 years.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose organization.

Born February 26, 1929, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruby (Hughes) Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Wasson, and a brother, Vanis Carter.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Danny D. and Christine Wasson, Mira Loma, CA, Darrell E. and Cindy Wasson, Germany, David A. and Millie Wasson, Morongo Valley, CA, and Dale A. Wasson, Las Vegas, NV; five brothers, R.D. Carter and Junior Carter, both of Livingston, Sammy Carter, Hilham, Billy Carter, Sacramento, CA, and Jimmy Carter, Akron, OH; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty and Luther Cook, Akron, OH, Inez Wakefield, Salt Lake City, UT, Oleda Norris, Hilham, and Linda and Norman Morgan, Cookeville; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
