Richard Lewis McWhorter
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Lewis McWhorter, 67, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Dailey officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McWhorter died Sunday, April 28 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired owner of a trucking company, a member of Swallows Chapel Full Gospel Church, a Mason, and a Teamsters Union business representative.

Born May 22, 1934, in Davidson County, he was the son of the late George Fred Sr. and Addie Mae Jeannette McWhorter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Fred McWhorter Jr. and Edward Lee McWhorter; and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife, Delma I. McWhorter, Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Kenneth Spas, Livingston; a brother, Arnold Ray McWhorter, Mililani, HI; a sister, Claudine Yates, Nashville; a grandson, James Spas, Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bobby Gore, Billy Joe Gore, Teddy Dailey, Lonnie Dailey, Brian Dailey, and Daryll McWhorter. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Brandon Ayers, Eddy Dailey, Kevin Hunter, Tim Hewitt, Bradley Ledbetter, Bruce Dailey, Willie Garrett Morgan, and Steve Smith.

Cecil Thomas Poindexter
Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Thomas Poindexter, 71, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating. Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Poindexter died Saturday, May 4 at NHC Health Care in Sparta. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, and a factory worker retired from Berkline Corporation.

Born January 8, 1931, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Henry Thomas and Merle (Conners) Poindexter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Poindexter, and a sister, Elise Holman.

Survivors include his wife, Iris Dean (Coffman) Poindexter, Livingston; a son, Jack Poindexter, Livingston; a sister, Josephine Poindexter, Livingston; a brother, James Poindexter, Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Danny White, Jay Coffman, Jim King, Jeff Poindexter, Charles Parrott, Harold Eldridge, and Tim Reagan.

Louise (Beaty) Price
Graveside services for Mrs. Louise (Beaty) Price, 65, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at Huerfano Masonic cemetery in Walsenburg, CO, with Bro. Gordon Kelly officiating. Local arrangements were provided by Livingston Funeral Home.

Mrs. Price died Tuesday, April 30 at her home. She was a restaurant owner/operator.

Born August 15, 1936, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Eula (Whittenburg) Beaty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Price; and a twin sister, Else Beaty.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Price, Cookeville; a son, Donald Price, Laveta, CO; three sisters, Nola Gieses, Pluebo, CO, Iladean Vitatoe, Pall Mall, and Eblin Nivens, Livingston; three brothers, H.L. Beaty, Pall Mall, Noble "Jake" Beaty, Byrdstown, and Dorman Beaty, Albany, KY; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Emma E. Reagan
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma E. Reagan, 93, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, from Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Dewitt Sample officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Reagan died Saturday, May 4 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Born August 9, 1908, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Alice (Garrett) Reagan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, E.J. Reagan, Radford Reagan, and Willie D. Reagan.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Reagan, Allons; a son, J.C. Reagan, Allons; two daughters, Agnes Nelson, Allons, and Lois Cantrell, Rickman; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; and a great-great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Steve Sidwell, David Cantrell, Roger Nelson, Donnie Nelson, Marvin Dale Reagan, Jimmie Wayne Reagan, James Reagan, and Glen Reagan.

Claude Roberts
Funeral services for Mr. Claude Roberts, 75, of Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial was in Hanging Limb cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Roberts died Sunday, May 5 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired coal miner, having worked 25 years in the mines, and a member of United Mine Workers Association, Monterey First Freewill Baptist Church, and Green Pond Masonic Lodge 703.

Born October 13, 1926, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Granville and Laura (Looper) Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Guffey, and two brothers, W.C. Roberts and Willard Roberts.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Spurlin) Roberts, Monterey; two sisters, Veatrice Wilson, Vines Ridge Community, and Eliane Williams, Red Key, IN; and a brother, L.G. Roberts, Portland, IN. His nephews served as pallbearers.

Kenneth R. Stephens
A celebration service for Mr. Kenneth R. Stephens, of Knoxville, was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

Mr. Stephens died Monday, April 29 at his home. He was a member of Westlake Baptist Church, a volunteer at a children's hospital for several years, a veteran of World War II, a principal of Livingston Academy for 14 years, and an employee of the State Vocational Rehabilitation Program for 19 years. He was the son of the late Timothy and Lousettie Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Benson) Stephens, Knoxville; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth R. and Donna Stephens, Crossville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzanne and Clester Winningham and Barbara Buckner, all of Tullahoma; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Cindy Williams, Powell, and Tod and Loretta Williams, Cookeville; a special sister-in-law, Janie (Stonecipher) Stephens; 12 grandchildren, Sean Stephens, Amanda Stephens, Andrew Matthew, Beth Matthew, Stephen Winningham, Tyler Buckner, Tarah Buckner, Paul Buckner, Jessica Williams, Hayden Williams, and Audrey Williams; a great grandson, Zac Winningham; and many nieces and nephews.

Headith (Gore) Vaughn
Funeral services for Mrs. Headith (Gore) Vaughn, 85, of Allons, were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. John Copeland officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Vaughn died Monday, April 29 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a cook at the hospital and school and a member of Allons Baptist Church.

Born June 7, 1916, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Quitman and Minnie (Johnson) Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Gore.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Vaughn, Allons; two sons, Denzil Gore and Denver Gore, both of Allons; two stepdaughters, Brenda Matthews and Sheila Walker, both of Livingston; a sister, Hester Maynord, Cookeville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rick Gore, Troy Gore, Roy Gore, Mike Gore, Randy Gore, Travis Gore, and Todd Matthews.

Oma Etta Daugherty
Graveside services for Mrs. Oma Etta Daugherty, 78, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Daugherty died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at White County Hospital in Sparta. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.

Born Oct. 7, 1922, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Sinai (Strode) Neal.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randell and Teresa Daugherty, Cookeville; and three grandchildren, Racheal J. Daugherty, and Lucas R. Daugherty, both of Lebanon, and Logan L. Ragland, Cookeville.

Spencer Paul Kingery
Graveside services for Master Spencer Paul Kingery, infant, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Whited cemetery with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Master Kingery died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born May 17, 2000, in Putnam County, he was the son of Terry and Crystal Hammock Kingery of Livingston. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Janie Kingery; and a great grandmother, Opal Hunter.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two grandfathers and a grandmother, Dwight Hammock, Livingston, and Gail and Darrell Denney, Monroe; a great grandmother, Irene Whited, Monroe; one sister, Bailey Kingery, Livingston; four uncles and five aunts, Chris and Emily Hammock, Kelly and Anita Hammock, Perry and Stacy Kingery, Howard and Amanda Mea, and Karen Pitch.

Willie B. Wilborn
Funeral services for Mr. Willie B. Wilborn, 84, of Monroe were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Martin cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr.Wilborn, a mechanic and farmer, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born December 1, 1915, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Isum Wilborn and Lillie (Smith) Wilborn.

He was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ.

He was also a veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Flora (Reagan) Wilborn, Monroe; a daughter, Judy Crutcher, Oak Ridge; a son, Kenneth Wilborn, Cookeville; three sisters, Celia Holman, Livingston, and Inis Jolley and Ada Smith, both of Monroe; a brother, Victor Wilborn, Allons; and two grandchildren, Michael Wilborn, Algood, and Michele Wilborn, Cookeville.

Pallbearers were Ronald Wilborn, Jerry Smith, Stanley Carter, Jr., Loyd Smith, Larry Smith, and Joe Conner.

Walter Irving Norrod
Funeral services for Mr. Walter Irving Norrod, 93, of Rickman, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, from the Rickman Chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Comer McGuire and Rev. Michael Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with the Rickman Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Norrod, a carpenter and farmer, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born October 20, 1906, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Grant and Sarah Belle (Smith) Norrod. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Norrod.

He was a member of Rickman United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Norrod, Rickman; a son, Roger Norrod, Arbovale, WV; a daughter, Janice Stemen, Columbus, OH; a half-brother, A.G. Norrod, Monroe; two half-sisters Pauline Garrett and Hazel Spaulding, both of Indiana; six grandchildren, Lisa, Carrie, April, Heidi, Allison, and Brian; and three great grandchildren, Benjamin, Lindsay, and Dillon.

Pallbearers were Donald Norrod, Melvin Norrod, Kenneth Norrod, James Reynolds, Phillip Livingston, and Paul Grutch.

Willie T. "Bill" Tayse
Funeral services for Mr. Willie T. "Bill" Tayse, 77, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, from First Baptist Church in Livingston with Rev. Donald Cobb and Rev. Clarence Stewart officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Tayse, a salesman for Gate City Mills and Overton Farmers Co-Op, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 22, 1923, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Albert and Anna Mae (Eldridge) Tayse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dora Tayse; and a sister, Ruth Crabtree.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and a deacon for 16 years.

Survivors include his wife Jean (Langford) Tayse, Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim E. and Frances Tayse, Carlisle, OH; a half-sister, Betty Tayse Robbins, Livingston; a grandson and granddaughter, Chris Tayse and Amanda Tayse, both of Carlisle, OH; and a special niece, Kathy Robbins Stacy, Livingston.

Pallbearers were Don Page, Danny Langford, Carlton Drumwright II, Eric Holcomb, Charlie Ray, and Steven Demchick.

Honorary pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church and members of Mr. Tayse's Sunday school class.
