Morris E. Williams
Funeral services for Mr. Morris E. Williams, 71, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Kerry Duke and Bro. Shane Nelson officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Williams, a mechanic with the Overton County school system, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born June 20, 1928, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Hershel and Doris (Whited) Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Norrod and Faye Reagan.

He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and a member of the VFW and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Zenith Williams, Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Kenneth Carney, Lebanon; a, sister, Norma Richardson, Lincoln Park, MI; and four grandchildren, Rachael Daugherty, Lucas Daugherty, Emily Carney, and Gibson Carney.

Pallbearers were Randall Daugherty, Stevie Smith, Larry Gunnels, Carl Whited, Danny Norrod, and Marvin "Junior" Whited.

Hallie Beatrice Mullins
Funeral services for Mrs. Hallie Beatrice Mullins, 75, of Sevierville and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in Holly Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mullins, a housewife, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Ft. Sanders Sevier Medical Center in Sevierville.

Born October 20, 1924, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late A.T. and Rose (Smith) Andrews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Mullins.

She was a member of Holly Springs Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Millard Mullins, Livingston; a son, Clois Mullins, Livingston; three daughters, Margaret Bilyeu, Rickman, Anna Conley, Madison, and Faye Bluhm, Sevierville; a brother, Doc Andrews, Indiana; a sister, Hassie Crabtree, Springfield; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Damon Harris, Timmy Harris, Matt Bluhm, Kevin Conley, Kenny Conley, Bobby Mullins, and Richard Mullins.

Marie Winningham Neal
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Winningham Neal, 79, of Tipton, IN, and formerly of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2000, from the chapel of Young and Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton, IN, followed by burial in that city. Mrs. Neal died Sunday, May 14, 2000.

Born July 27, 1920, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Delta (Allred) Winningham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Neal; and a brother, Clarence Winningham.

Survivors include four daughters, Jean Mahaffey, Maggie Norris, Sue Welcher, and Faye Elston, all of Indiana; two sons, Donald Neal and Clois Neal, both of Indiana; four sisters, Ester Thomason, Lola Coffee, both of Rickman, Jewel Dillon, Algood, and Lorene Morrow, Indiana; three brothers, Elbert Winningham, Algood, Clyde Winningham, Hilham, and Clifton Winningham, Nashville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Clifford C. Looper
Funeral services for Mr. Clifford C. Looper, 61, of Anderson, IN, and formerly of the Dry Hollow community in Overton County, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, from the chapel of Rozelle Johnson Funeral Home of Anderson, IN, with Rev. Loyce Webb and Rev. Eric Fox officiating. Burial was in Anderson Memorial Park in Anderson, IN, with Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Looper, retired from Byrum Builders after 35 years, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Community Hospital in Anderson, IN.

Born September 17, 1938, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Woodly Looper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Vernice Mendenhall Cutler; father-in-law, Merle E. Mendenhall; and two brothers-in-law, Luther Harris and Rocky Fox. He was a member of the Gospel Light Church, Red Man's Lodge, and Chesterfield American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Shirley 'Jeanie' (Mendenhall) Looper, Anderson, IN; a son, David Lee Looper, Anderson, IN; step-mother, Hallie Looper, Rickman; a mother-in-law, Dorothy Mendenhall, Anderson, IN; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty Harris, Monterey, Joyce and Loyet Ray, Dry Hollow, Mary and Thomas Swallows, Rickman, and Doris Fox, Anderson; a brother, Melvin Looper, Rickman; and a special buddy, Tia Bailey, Anderson, IN.

Sarah Ethel Brown
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ethel Brown, 82, of Allons, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Harris and Rev. Perry Clayton officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Brown, a housewife, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the Overton County Nursing Home.

Born June 13, 1917, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late James and Rettie (Brown) Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van Buren Brown; four brothers, Wilbur Nelson, Starling Nelson, Wayne Nelson, and Chalmer Nelson; and a sister, Flora Burks.

She was a member of Martin Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Nelson Brown, Allons, and Jerry David Brown, Byrdstown; three daughters, Jeanie Davis, Allons, Carol Choate, Algood, and Sherry Brown Threet, Cookeville; two sisters, Alene Reedy, Indianapolis, IN, and Lorene Dailey, Tipton, IN; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Donnie Nelson, Randall Nelson, Michael Conley, Roger Hood, Melvin Nelson, and Roger Nelson.

Caitlin (Katie) Thomason
Funeral services for Miss Caitlin (Katie) Thomason, 3, of Gainesboro, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2000, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial was in Pigg Family cemetery in the Fairview Community of Jackson County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Thomason, a pre-school student at Shiloh Head Start Center in Jackson County, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born June 17, 1997, in Cookeville, she was the daughter of John and Andrea Woudstra Thomason of Gainesboro. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John E. Thomason; and great grandparents, Oscar and Jessie Thomason, Charlie Lee and Lena Pigg, and Bill and Laura Davis.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her grandparents, Joyce Thomason, Hilham, and Sherry and John Dubay, Cookeville; a sister, Miranda Renea Thomason, Gainesboro; a half sister, Margaret Ellen "Maggie" Thomason, Lawrence, KS; and several aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Harris Gentry Copeland
Funeral services for Mr. Harris Gentry Copeland, 84, of Alpine, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Steele, Rev. John Copeland, Rev. Darrek Copeland, and Rev. Tim Buford officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Gentry, a business man, died Friday, November 24, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born December 5, 1915, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Harris Elmo and Martha Sells Copeland.

He operated a coal mine and store and was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, the Shiloh Masonic Lodge, York Rite Mason, and Al Menah Shrine in Nashville.

Survivors include his wife, Cleopatra Copeland, Alpine; a son, Joseph Wayne Copeland, Alpine; three daughters, Peggy Wood, Judy Buford, and Carol Ashburn, all of Livingston; two nieces, Janie Mynatt and Hope Jackson; a nephew, Dr. Michael Allred; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mark Copeland, Jeff Copeland, Steven Buford, Greg Buford, David Ashburn, Neil Ashburn, and Chris Copeland.

Honorary pallbearers were L.G. Puckett Jr., Villard Maynord, Roy Pennington, and Bob Howell.

James H. (Jim) Jolly, DVM
Funeral services for Mr. James H. "Jim" Jolly, DVM, 59, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, November 24, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Bradshaw and Rev. Dee Ledford officiating. Burial was in Hatcher Hall cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Jolly, a veterinarian, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born June 27, 1941, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Edd Clark and Virgie Ann (Keisling) Jolly.

He was affiliated with the First Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughter and one son-in-law, Jennifer Williams and Donna and David Holt, all of Livingston; a brother, Larry Jolly, Clarkston, MI; three sisters, Elise Gilman, Jackie Winningham, and Peggy Melton, all of Livingston; and four grandchildren, Jeremiah Williams, Kristen Williams, Levi Holt, and Lucas Holt, all of Livingston.

Pallbearers were John Donaldson, Bill Bilbrey, Gerald Maynard, Jeremiah Maynard, James Robbins, William McCormick, Rodney Padgett, and Bob Bottoms.

Leonard Barlow
Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Barlow, 74, of Hilham, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Edward L. Todd officiating. Burial was in the Lynn cemetery in the Burristown Community of Jackson County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Barlow died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired employee of the Jackson County Hospital and affiliated with the Hilham Church of God.

Born September 24, 1926, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Alfred and Verdie (Brown) Barlow.

Survivors include his wife, Ova (Hammock) Barlow, Hilham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and David Roberson, Cookeville, and Joyce and Jack Ward, Livingston; four brothers, Ray Barlow and Carl Barlow, both of Livingston, Grover Barlow, Gainesboro, and Roy Barlow, Coldspring, TX; a sister, Sally Mae (Barlow) Bull, Fort Pierce, FL; three grandsons, Shane Barlow, John Robert Ward, and Josh Roberson; two special nieces, Judy (Barlow) Sisco and Sara Greenwood; two special friends, Curtis Roberson and Edward Todd; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Elizabeth (Jones) White
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Jones) White, 67, of Lebanon, were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2001, from the chapel of Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon with Eld. Frankie Downs and Eld. Hilman Duncan officiating. Burial was in the Conatser cemetery with Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. White died Monday, February 26, 2001, at Cedars Health Care in Lebanon. She was a retired dietician at Clover Bottom Developmental Center, a homemaker, and a member of the Old Paths Missionary Baptist Church.

Born November 2, 1933, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Nettie (Reagan) Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Karen (Graves) White; two brothers, Royce Jones and James Jones; and an infant brother.

Survivors include her husband, Edgar Leon White, Lebanon; a son, Randall "Rudy" White, Lebanon; a brother, George Jones, Lebanon; and two grandchildren, Leah Elizabeth White and Lee Elliott White, both of Lebanon. Serving as pallbearers were her family and friends.

Ellis Brett Snoddy Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Ellis Brett Snoddy Jr., 74, of Monroe, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, from Beaty Swamp Community Church with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial was in the Sylvester Robbins cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Snoddy died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center in Nashville. He was a member of the Beaty Swamp Community Church, a Veteran of W.W. II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era, and a member of the local VFW.

Born August 22, 1926, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Ellis Brett Snoddy Sr. and Velma (Carlson) Snoddy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth Snoddy, David Snoddy, Sidney Snoddy, and Robert Snoddy; and a sister, Nancy Prophit.

Survivors include his wife, Lura (Padgett) Snoddy, Monroe; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Scott Henson, Livingston; four grandchildren, Chad Edens, Brad Edens, Laura Edens and Jacob Henson; one great grandchild, Chloe Edens; and three special nieces, Cecilia Prophit, Mary Prophit, and Sheila Prophit. Pallbearers were members of the James T. Davis VFW Post #5062. Full military honors were conducted by a military honor guard from Ft. Campbell, KY.

Floyd Pierce
Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Pierce, 62, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. David Harris officiating. Burial was in the Welch Memorial cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Pierce died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Standing Stone Health Care Center in Monterey. He was a retired truck driver, a US Army Veteran, and affliliated with the Love Joy Missionary Baptist Church.

Born May 9, 1938, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Roy A. and Edna R. (Hoover) Pierce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Harville) Pierce, Monterey; two sisters, Dorothy Bowman and Anna Bowman, both of Hanging Limb; and a brother, Willie Ray Pierce, Monterey.
