Jimmie Lee Peterman
Funeral services for Mr. Jimmie Lee Peterman, 56, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Ledbetter and Rev. James Edens officiating. Burial was in the Okolona cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Peterman died Monday, February 26, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a rating and billing analyst at Service Transport in Cookeville, a member of the Okolona United Methodist Chuch, and Livingston Lodge #259.

Born August 6, 1944, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late James Caston and Clara Ruth (Robbins) Peterman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kelly and Pemelia Peterman and Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Robbins Sr.; and two nieces, Donna Turner and Greta Qualls.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Qualls) Peterman, Rickman; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Virginia and Johnny Hunter and Betty and Frank Ward, all of Livingston, and Juanita and Johnny Brown, Hilham; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Loretta and Charles Floyd Qualls Sr., Livingston; four nephews, Scotty Hunter, Richard Brown, Shane Qualls, and Griff Qualls; three nieces, Debbie Garrison, Stephanie Woods, and Cara Qualls; and 10 great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Richard Brown, Scotty Hunter, Jeff Woods, Shane Qualls, Griff Qualls, Jerry Robbins, and Jason Robbins.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were the employes of Service Transport.

Francisca Carmen Perez
Funeral services for Mrs. Francisca Carmen Perez, 59, of Hoytville, OH, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001, from First United Methodist Church in Livingston with Rev. Ronald Whited officiating. Burial was in the St. John cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Perez died Monday, February 26, 2001, at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, OH. She was a farm worker and of the Catholic faith.

Born January 9, 1942, in Texas, she was the daughter of the late Jesus Sr. and Magdalena (Perez) Zamora. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Casimiro Zamora and Rosalio Zamora; and a sister, Selia Rey.

Survivors include a daughter, Rose Mary Morris, Livingston; three brothers, Roberto Zamora, Julian Zamora, and Jesus Zamora Jr., all of Ohio; two sisters, Florentina Cortez and Ufemia Cortez, both of Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Brown "Junior" Nelson Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown "Junior" Nelson Jr., 58, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville with Bro. Howard Dailey, Bro. Dewey Glenn Ramsey, and Bro. Ronald D. Whited officiating. Burial was in the Upper Crawford cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Nelson died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired furniture worker and of the Baptist faith.

Born July 17, 1942, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Brown Nelson Sr. and Harriet Edith (Hooks) Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Thomas Nelson and Donnie Nelson; three sisters, Sally Nelson, Corina Faye Nelson, and Agnes Nelson; and grandparents, Tom and Nancy (Gaw) Nelson.

Survivors include his wife, Reba (Knight) Nelson, Cookeville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Anthony Nelson,Cookeville, Junior Thomas and Julie Nelson, Georgia, and Scottie and Michelle Nelson, Rickman; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Lee and Virginia Nelson, Cookeville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pearl Breeding, Carolyn and Bruce Thompson, and Mary Sue and Bennie Dixon, all of Cookeville; four grandsons, Anthony Ross Nelson, Michael Thomas Nelson, Mitchell Joseph Nelson, and Matthew Scott Nelson; two God-grandchildren, Gordon and Lisa Marie Fuqua; and a great God-grandchild, Hattie Sue Joyce Fuqua.

Edward Lytle Farley
Funeral services for Mr. Edward Lytle Farley, 82, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Otis Ransom Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Old Bethel cemetery in Monroe with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Farley died Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a supervisor for Beaman Bottling (hospital vending), a member of the Sugar Creek Church of Christ, a member of the Rescue Squad, and a volunteer for Livingston Regional Hospital for 14 years.

Born April 26, 1918, in Davidson County, he was the son of the late Ed and Daisy Mai (Burnett) Farley.

Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Farley, Livingston; three sons, Carl Reagan and Jimmy Reagan, both of Cookeville, and Ricky Reagan, Monroe; and a daughter, Martha Kirby, Algood. Pallbearers were Mike Reagan, Greg Kirby, William Kirby, Richard Rinker, Josh Reagan, and Barry Roberts.

Mary Ethel Matheny
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ethel Matheny, 91, of Rickman, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, from Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. A.J. Looper officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery in Rickman with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Matheny died Monday, February 26, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of the Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church.

Born December 10, 1909, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Rice and Nancy Jane (Harris) Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlen Matheny; a son, Carlen Gentry Matheny; four sisters, Mae Hammons, Lula Bilbrey, Cora (Bilbrey) Matheny, and Rissiean Webb; four brothers, Carson Walker, Reese Walker, Shirley Walker, and Charlie Walker; a grandson, James Daniel Matheny; and a great grandson, Gary Wade Buchannan.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Ruby Matheny, Bradyville, and James and Mary Louise Matheny, Pendleton, IN; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vesta and Charles Thompson and Fran and Chuck Babb, all of Rickman, and Iva and Myrvin Shore, Lafayette, GA; a sister, Hattie Webb, Anderson, IN; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lawton Harlan Sidwell
Funeral services for Mr. Lawton Harlan Sidwell, 67, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 23, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sidwell, owner of a package store, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born December 3, 1932, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Willie and Ethel (Dulworth) Sidwell. In addtion to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, May Sidwell, J.B. Sidwell, and Thurman Sidwell; and two sisters, Lucille Taylor and Estelle Moore.

Survivors include a brother, Cledis Sidwell, Livingston; and three sisters, Eudean Mercer, Romeo, MI, Betty Wright, Madison Heights, MI, and Geneva Neely, Livingston.

Pallbearers were Mark Neely, Shirley Wright, Doug Neely, Wayne Peek, David Hooks, and Bruce Dixon.

Billy Ray Mathis
Funeral services for Mr. Billy Ray Mathis, 64, of Anderson, IN, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Amonette officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Mathis, an employee of Emge Packing and Woerner Tuff Nursery, died Sunday, November 19, 2000, at the home of his former wife and caregiver, Winnie Mathis.

Born September 17, 1936, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Plez Edmon Mathis and Sarah Ann (Nation) Mathis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Mathis.
He served in the U.S. Army in the mid 50's in Germany. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Edmon and Joyce Mathis, Byrdstown; three grandsons, Shayne Mathis, and Travis Mathis, both of Shirley, IN, and Corey Wood, Anderson, IN; two granddaughters, Amanda Mathis, Anderson, IN, and Suzette Stokes, New Castle, IN; two great grandsons, Michael Mathis, Anderson, IN, and Jason Hester Jr., New Castle, IN; a great granddaughter, Shelby Lee Ray, Indianapolis, IN; a niece, Debbie Mathis, Anderson, IN; a nephew, Tim Mathis, Anderson,IN; a very special friend and former wife, Winnie Mathis, Yorktown, IN; special friends, Peggy Scherer and Marlene Van Ness; and lots of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Timmy Mathis, Leroy Phillips, Jaime Brown, Jesse Hammock, Darrell Huddleston, and Coy Nation. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Colson, and Gene Hummell.

A.C. Melton
Funeral services for Mr. A.C. Melton, 63, of Monroe, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Henderson officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Melton, a farmer, died Thursday, November 23, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born September 19, 1937, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Johnny Willis and Hattie Chowning Melton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cassie Roark. He was a member of Cullom Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mazelle Flowers Melton, Monroe; two sons, Scott Melton, Monroe, and Shawn Melton, Algood; three daughters, Wanda Richardson, Livingston, Ginger Beaty, Monroe, and Diane Crabtree, Tullahoma; a brother, Durell Melton, Monroe; two sisters, Wallace Garrett, Monroe, and Hassie Mae Melton, Livingston; and seven grandsons.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Combs, Keith Copeland, Bill Bowman, Roger Flowers, Joe Pat Melton, and Jack Melton. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jerry Melton and Donald Norrod.

Cornelia Easterly Ballou
Funeral services for Mrs. Cornelia Easterly Ballou, 81, of Florence, KY, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000, in the chapel of Stith Funeral Home of Florence, KY, with Rev. Greg Anderson officiating. Burial was in Batavia Union cemetery in Batavia, OH, with Stith Funeral Home of Florence, KY, in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ballou, a retired school bus driver for the Kentucky school system, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at her home in Florence, KY.

Born February 21, 1919, in the Oak Grove community of Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Elisha Easterly and Mary Florence Bilbrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clayton Ballou; seven brothers, Omar Claudud Easterly, Osby Voe Easterly, Orvel Isaac Easterly, Jethro James Easterly, William Thomas Easterly, Johnnie Totten Easterly, and Dr. Wynn F. Clouse Easterly; and two sisters, Audie Mae Morgan, and Alice Ada Duncan.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Lee and Deborah Lauderwasser; two grandchildren, Justin Lee and Jamison Lee; one sister, Ina Evelyn Gilbert, Cincinnati, OH; two sisters-in-law, Glysta Barnes Easterly, Blanchester, OH, and Juanita Gray Easterly, Livingston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Hugh Maxey Burchett
Funeral services for Mr. Hugh Maxey Burchett, 60, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Boles officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Burchett, a factory worker for the auto industry, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at his home.

Born June 15, 1936, in Clay County, he was the son of Johnny Burchett, Clay County, and the late Lucille (Abney) Burchett. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Burchett.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Edwina (Smith) Burchett, Livingston; a step-mother, Lyda Watson Burchett, Clay County; a daugther, Sheliah Gruber, Memphis; a sister, Helen Duke, Macon, GA; and two grandchildren, Sydney Gruber and Spencer Gruber, both of Memphis. Pallbearers were Brian Burchett, Brent Burchett, Michael Adams, Joey Cooper, Scott Gruber, and James Duke.

Vella Mamie Ringley
Funeral services for Mrs. Vella Mamie Ringley, 92, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Hill-Gunter cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ringley, a housekeeper, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 13, 1908, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Hennie (Ledbetter) Templeton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Ringley; a sister, Hattie Franklin; and three brothers, Bill Templeton, Fate Templeton, and Ridley "Square" Templeton.

She was a member of Millers Chapel Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, James Ringley, Livingston, and J.D. Ringley, Indianapolis, IN; four daughters, Vella Dickerson, Betty Jean Cunningham, Oleida Clark, and Carolyn Sells, all of Livingston; a brother, Carmon Templeton, Crossville; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Timmons, Walt Timmons, Jimmy Ringley, Aaron Threet, Dale Threet, Brandon Threet, and Brandon Keys.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grady Calvin Harvey
Funeral services for Mr. Grady Calvin Harvey, 88, of Monroe, and a resident of the Overton Co. Nursing Home, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Shaw, Bro. Marlon Winningham, and Bro. Glen Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Harvey, a farmer, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born February 9, 1912, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Tom and Bird (Heard) Harvey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Harvey; a daughter, Mildred Sells; a brother, Edward Harvey; a sister, Pearl Clark; and a grandson, Terry Sells.

He was a member of the Free Communion Church of Christ.

Survivors include four sons, Roger Harvey, Livingston, Keith Harvey, Cookeville, Jerry Harvey, Watertown, and Kenneth Harvey, Lebanon; a daughter, Betty Beason, Livingston; two brothers, Roy Harvey and Onas Harvey, both of Monroe; two sisters, Lola Taylor, Livingston, and Mary Lou Reeder, Anderson, IN; 24 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tim Sells, Ted Sells, Tracy Sells, Jerry Lee Harvey, Jason Harvey, Bruce Harvey, Chad Harvey, and Derek Harvey. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Larry Harvey.
