Funeral services for Mrs. Argie Lorena Copeland, 71, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Duane "Bud' Hargis and Rev. Bary Ray officiating. Burial was in Liberty cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Copeland died Tuesday, March 7 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a garment factory worker, a housewife, and a member of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church.
Born January 26, 1931, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Icy Ellen (Spurlin) Hargis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Hollan Copeland; a brother, Elmer Hargis; and two sisters, Marie Hargis and Ruby Stinson.
Survivors include three sons, Kenny Copeland, Glenn Copeland, and Gerald Copeland, all of Rickman; two daughters, Brenda Copeland, Glenda Carol Hawn, both of Rickman; three brothers, Eddie Hargis, Alpine, George Hargis, Rickman, and Jimmy Hargis, McMinnville; two sisters, Zula Brown, Cookeville, and Pauline Presley, Rickman; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Shannon Copeland, Shawn Key, Travis Copeland, Ben Hargis, Chris Hargis, and Brandon Hargis.
Bedford A. Holman
Funeral services for Mr. Bedford A. Holman, 74, of Rockwood, were conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2000, from the Rockwood Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Wesson officiating. Graveside services and interment
were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2000, in Sells cemetery in Livingston. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Holman, a retired x-ray technician with Chamberlain Memorial Hospital, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. He was the son of the late Floyd and Lucy Holman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Holman; and two brothers, Milburn Holman and Lester Holman.
He was a member of Rockwood Church of Christ and a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Rusty Bowlin, Rockwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Elise Holman, Rockwood; four brothers, Edward Holman, Nashville, Robert Holman, Sparta, J. D. Holman, Cookeville, and Lloyd Holman, Wilson, NC; a sister, Mildred Sells, Cookeville; a great aunt, Estie Newberry, Livingston; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
James Floyd Bilbrey
Funeral services for Mr. James Floyd Bilbrey, 99, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Flatt and Rev. Larry Thomas officiating. Burial was in Miller cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bilbrey, a farmer, died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born April 11, 1900, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Soloman 'Sol' and Susie (Robbins) Bilbrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Stella (Sullivan) Bilbrey; his second wife, Vina (Barlow) Bilbrey; four brothers, Eddie Bilbrey, Quentin Bilbrey, Carvel Bilbrey, and Grady Bilbrey; and two sisters, Eunice Bilbrey and Lizzie Bilbrey.
He was a member of Allons Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, James Lelon and Jewell Bilbrey, Livingston, Dewie and Suzanne Bilbrey, Oak Ridge, and Willie Hugh and Verdina Bilbrey, Allons; four brothers, Atwell Bilbrey, Rue Bilbrey, both of Livingston, Raymond Bilbrey, Cookeville, and Roy Bilbrey, Timothy community; a sister, Katy Kirby, Livingston; six grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Pallbearers were Landel Bilbrey, Alan Bilbrey, Scott Norman, Chuck Kirkpatrick, Rodney Kingrea, and Willie Hugh Bilbrey. Aaron C. Eldridge
Funeral services for Mr. Aaron C. Eldridge, 83, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Luke Pigg and Bro. Frank Nolen officiating. Burial was in Camp Ground cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Eldridge, a farmer, died Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born December 4, 1916, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Alvin and Ethel (Livingston) Eldridge.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Eldridge, Livingston; three special cousins, Earl Danner, Anna Dell Danner, and Eunice Burgess, all of Livingston; and several other cousins.
Pallbearers were VFW members.
Luther M. Murphy
Funeral services for Mr. Luther M. Murphy, 93, of Cookeville and formerly of the Sulphur Community of Overton County, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Glen McDoniel officiating. Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Murphy, a mechanic, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born December 2, 1906, he was the son of the late Willie and Lillie Mae (Bilbrey) Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie (Allred) Murphy; three brothers, Denton Murphy, Lester Jack Murphy, and Richard Murphy; and two sisters, Leatie Bowman and Bessie Shoopmen. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Edward Murphy and James L. Murphy, both of Livingston; four daughters, Louise Robbins, Livingston, Mary Gillentine, Linda Lee, and Ruby Murphy, all of Cookeville; two sisters, Lou Ester Dishman, Sparta, and Meekle Boswell, Alpine; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Billy Murphy, Jeff Gillentine, Stacey England, Michael Murphy, Mark Murphy, Ralph Murphy, Steve Murphy, and David Murphy.
Phoenica Winningham
Funeral services for Phoenica Winningham, 65, of Antioch and formerly of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Pitt officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
A supervisor with the State of Tennessee, she died Friday, January 7, 2000, in Lynchburg.
Born July 18, 1934, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Ruby Winningham. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Hosea and Ann Winningham, Lester Winningham, Roger Winningham, all of Livingston, Clester and Suzanne Winningham, Tullahoma, and Richard and Janie Winningham, Anderson, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers were Guy Griffin, Steve Ricketts, Donnie Buttram, Stephen Winningham, Matthew Winningham and Britt Winningham.
Honorary pallbearers were Virginia Parmley, Clayton Griffin, Sonya Haskins, Rosemary Haskins, Mary Jo Taylor, Hope Winningham, and Wesley Griffin.

Born September 28, 1909, she was the daughter of the late John and Elora (Thompson) Goodpasture. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Gore; a son; and a granddaughter. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Glenn Gore, Livingston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Agnes and Earl Carr and Reba and Leon Flatt, all of Livingston; two sisters, Carrie Carr, Rickman, and Lola Gillentine, Glasgow, KY; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a special friend, Carol Winningham, Livingston.
Janice Joann Ledbetter

Earl Spurlin
Funeral services for Mr. Earl Spurlin, 87, of the Vines Ridge Community near Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2000, from the Vines Ridge Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Clayton Padgett and Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial was in Honey Springs cemetery with full military honors by Monterey VFW Post 6277 Honorguard. Goff Funeral Home of Monterey was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Spurlin, a farmer, died Friday, January 7, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born March 20, 1912, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Mintie (Stephens) Spurlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Kenneth Spurlin and Robert Glen Spurlin; and two sisters, Virgie Guffey and Alice Robbins.
He was a member of the Vines Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and a WWII Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Olen Cooper Spurlin, Vines Ridge Community; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Christine and Carl Jason, Georgetown, KY, Joyce and Donnie Riley, Brenda and Marshall Key, and Allene Penticuff, all of the Vines Ridge Community; a daughter-in-law, Idella Spurlin, Defeated Creek; four sisters, Ruby Roberts, Monterey, Opal Matthews, Margie Garrett, and Iva Spurlin, all of the Vines Ridge Community; a brother, Milas Spurlin, Vines Ridge Community; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Cordell C. Qualls

Mr. Qualls, a grocer, died Saturday, January 8, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born February 27, 1914, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late James W. and Elizabeth (Wilson) Qualls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Eldridge.
He was owner-operator of Cordell Qualls Grocery in Algood for over 30 years. He was also a farmer and machinist, as well as being a former alderman for the city of Algood for four years.
Survivors include his wife, Novella (Jones) Qualls, Cookeville; a daughter, Brilla Weilenman, Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy C. and Loretta Qualls, Cookeville; a sister, Dorothy Green, Mt. Clemens, MI; a brother, Claude Qualls, Dora, MI; an aunt, Leatha Finley, Cookeville; two grandsons, Tim Weilenman and Mike Weilenman; and four great grandchildren, Lloyd Weilenman, A. J. Weilenman, Monica Weilenman, and Jacob Weilenman.
Pallbearers were Mike Weilenman, Tim Weilenman, Lloyd Weilenman, A. J. Weilenman, Jim Edd Eldridge, and Randall Eldridge.

Willie H. Watson

Born December 28, 1918, in Celina, he was the son of the late Clarence and Eva (Scott) Watson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Zula Barlow.
He was affiliated with the Celina Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Watson, Celina; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Vicky Watson, Livingston, and Don and Billie Watson, Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Rush Rich, Celina; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Clyde M. Atchley

Mr. Atchley, a retired school teacher and former owner of Village Florist and Atchley's Florist of Celina, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at Cumberland River Hospital North in Celina.
Born December 27, 1925, in Clay County, he was the son of Ollie (Collins) Atchley of Celina and the late Bob Atchley. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Claude Atchley.
He was a member of Butlers Landing Church of Christ in Clay County.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two brothers, Billy Ray Atchley, Celina, and Paul Atchley, Allons; three sisters, Katherine Sherrell, Rosa Nell Marsh, both of Sparta, and Fannie Ruth Gribble, Celina; and several nieces and nephews.
