Wayne Adcock
Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Adcock, 59, of Livingston, and formerly of Smithville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, from the chapel of DeKalb Funeral Chapel in Smithfield with Tim Singleton officiating.

Burial was in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with DeKalb Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Adcock died Sunday, June 2 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired Wildlife Resource Officer and affiliated with Smithville First United Methodist Church.

He was the son of Frances Adcock of Smithville and the late Clifford Adcock.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Judy Adcock, Livingston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amellia and Richard Melton, Livingston, and Valerie and Christopher Boothe, Oxford, MS; a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Charlotte Adcock, Cleveland; a granddaughter, Sarah Boothe; a grandson, Reese Melton; two nephews, Jonathan Adcock and his wife Annisa, Ootlewah, and Ray Adcock, Smyrna, GA; and a great niece, Rebekah Adcock, Ooltewah.

Joyce (Pigg) Barlow
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce (Pigg) Barlow, 53, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Robert officiating. Burial was in Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Barlow died Sunday, May 26 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and affiliated with Rickman First Freewill Baptist Church.

Born June 19, 1948, in Smith County, she was the daughter of Arvin L. and Thelma Jean (Bennett) Pigg of Hilham.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Carl Barlow, Hilham; a stepdaughter and step-son-in-law, Judy and Mark Sisco, Antioch; six brothers, Kenny Pigg, Clifton Pigg, Frank Pigg, David Pigg, Donald Pigg, and Jerry Pigg, all of Hilham; two sisters, Elaine Daniels, Monroe, and Pam Huddleston, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Don Pigg, Jerry Pigg, David Pigg, Glen Vincent, Sam Masters, and Jacob Daniels.

Georgia (Reagan) Blackburn
Graveside services for Mrs. Georgia (Reagan) Blackburn, 92, of Saint Cloud, FL, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Osceola Memorial Gardens in Kissimmee, FL.

Osceola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Blackburn died Saturday, June 1 in Saint Cloud. A retired teacher of 45 years, she served at Bradley County Public School System in Tennessee as a supervisor of grades K-12, a director of the Head Start program, and a teacher in the countyÕs pilot kindergarten. She also completed inservice workshops to help other educators, and in 1974, she received the Valley Forge Teachers Medal for her contribution to youth.

She participated in the Wagon Wheel Square Dancers group, and she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Cleveland and a charter and lifetime member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was the daughter of the late William H. and Manzie Jane (Poor) Reagan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse C. Blackburn; a brother, William T. Reagan; and two sisters, Lena Mae "Pat" Arnold and Eva Jane Sells.

Survivors include a sister, Bonzie R. Spurrier, Morganton, GA; a niece Betty-Jo Spurrier, Morganton; two nephews, William A. Reagan, Elkton, VA, and Donald O. Sells, Porter, TX; and great nieces, Dinah Lee Bingham, Jennifer Bingham, and Bonnie Jo Weiss and her family, Alden Weiss, Amandalee Weiss, and Bryan Weiss.

Paul David Bullock
Funeral services for Mr. Paul David Bullock, 93, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Newsome Harvey and Rev. Ryan Barnhart officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bullock died Monday, May 27 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a coal miner, a farmer, and a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Born January 13, 1909, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James "Jim" and Lillie Mae (Neely) Bullock.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Bullock, Livingston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sammie and Bill Boswell, Livingston, and Sandra and Bob Mullinix, Jamestown; two sisters, Ruth DeKay, Bakersfield, CA, and Elizabeth Herman, Santa Barbara, CA; grandchildren, Sherry and Dr. Johnnie Carter, Athens, TN, Beth and Frank Walters, Livingston, Bret and Christina Millinix, Huntsville, AL, Ben Mullinix, Nashville, and Kim Mullinix, Okinawa, Japan; and four great grandchildren, Cullen Carter, Kristen Carter, Hailee Walters, and Olivia Mullinix.

Pallbearers were Ben Mullinix, Bret Mullinix, Frank Walters, Dr. Johnnie Carter, Michael Allred, and Roger Vaughn. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bob Buford, Fred Ashburn, Joe Copeland, Louis Hargus, Enloe Hargus, Carey Carlock, Pastor Fred Allred, Dr. B.F. Allred, and Dr. Jonathan Allred.

Louis E. "Lou" Chilton
Funeral services for Mr. Louis E. "Lou" Chilton, 84, of Battle Creek, MI, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27,2002, from 20th Street Church of Christ with Dr. Duane Stuart officiating.

Burial was in Reese cemetery in Battle Creek with Farley-Estes and Dowdle Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Chilton died Saturday, May 25 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI. He was employed at Eaton Corporation for 34 years, retiring in 1975. He worked in real estate, first for Hoffman Real Estate for four years, then for Coldwell Banker for 12 years, leaving real estate in 1991.

He was the County Commissioner for the First District in Springfield and Bedford from 1978 until 1992. He was a member of 20th Street Church of Christ, the Board of Directors, Burnham Brook Center, the Springfield Senior Citizens, member and a past president Battle Creek Shrine Club.

He was a life member and past Worshipful Master #503 F. & A.M., life member Battle Creek Commandry #33 K.T., member of Battle Creek Chapter #19 Royal Arch Masons, a former member of United Way and a past president of Calhoun County Central Labor Council. His hobby was flower and vegetable gardening.

Born September 4, 1917, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Ebb and Mae (Glidewell) Chilton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall Chilton; and a sister, Jewell Garrott.

Survivors include his wife, Martha (Goggins) Chilton, Battle Creek; two sons, Louie Chilton, Battle Creek, and James Chilton, Midland, MI; a daughter, Jennifer Scott, DeWitt, MI; five sisters, Lois Underwood, Bedford Township, MI, Jane Buford and Annie Uldricks, both of Battle Creek, Marcia Martin, Livingston, and Evelyn Young, Atlanta, GA; a brother, Norman Chilton, Battle Creek; six grandchildren; and one great grandson.

Ewin L. Denson
Funeral services for Mr. Ewin L. Denson, 64, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Denson died Thursday, May 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired factory worker, a member of the Fourth Street Church of God, Greenville, OH, and a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

Born September 14, 1937, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Dewey and Rhoda (Dudney) Denson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Denson, Livingston; two brothers, Jerry Denson, Gainesboro, and Shirlie Denson, Cookeville; and three nephews, Joe Denson, Jackie Denson, and Tyler Denson.

Pallbearers were Joey Denson, Jackie Denson, Everett Gristmas, Stevie Masters, Pat Dudney, Billy Nevins, Jacob Masters, and Clayton Lee.

Allard U. Dixon
Funeral services for Mrs. Allard U. Dixon, 72, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home with Jeff Short and Nolen Cantrell officiating. Burial was in Carter Bilbrey cemetery with Rickman-Hall Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dixon died Saturday, May 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith and attended Liberty Freewill Baptist Church.

Born June 18, 1929, on Hickory Flatt Mountain in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Tommy and Lillie (Phillips) Hammock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Dixon; and three infant sons.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Roger Wilson, Livingston; a grandson and his wife, Jason and Melissa Wilson, Livingston; a granddaughter and her husband, Jamie and J.E. Ledbetter, Dry Hollow; a great granddaughter, Jessica Wilson, Livingston; a sister-in-law, Julie Hargis, Livingston; two nieces, Jessie Ilene Pryor, Rickman, and Anita Dixon, Livingston; and a nephew, J.W. Staggs, Livingston.

Pallbearers were Adam Lacy, Tony Dixon, Justin Ledbetter, Gary Walker, Bill Johnson, and Steven Walker. Serving as an honorary pallbearer was J.W. Staggs.

Charles Ray Farley
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Ray Farley, 69, of Cookeville, were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Mike Maiden and Bro. Don Widner officiating. Burial was in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Farley died Wednesday, May 29 at Masters Health Care Center. He was a grounds supervisor for Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens and a member of BrindleyÕs Chapel Church of God.

Born May 4, 1933, in Overton County, he was the son of the late L.D. and Lou Mae (Poston) Farley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Farley.

Survivors include his wife, Delza (Phillips) Farley, Cookeville; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Martha Stuart, Patricia and Rick Long, Lisa and Steve Sells, Carrie and Marty Masters, and Charlene Allen, all of Cookeville; a brother, Edward Farley, Cookeville; and eight grandchildren, Amy Mayberry, Chris Farley, Brian Sells, Jennifer Farley, Brittany Allen, Austin Allen, Kelly Masters, and Ricky Daniel Long.

Pallbearers were Marty Masters, Rick Long, Steve Sells, Brian Sells, and Eric Stone.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were staff members at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Peggy Genene Garrett
Funeral services for Miss Peggy Genene Garrett, 67, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. David Beaty officiating.

Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Miss Garrett died Saturday, June 1 at the Overton County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and member of Bible Baptist Church in Augusta, MI.

Born June 22, 1934, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Mance Garrett and Bertha Wright Garrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Lester Garrett, Jim Garrett, Edward Garrett, Roy Garrett, and Bobby Garrett.

Survivors include two brothers, Jerry Garrett, Battle Creek, MI, and Teddy Joe Garrett, Pine Lake, MI; and a sister, Jewell Franklin, Monroe.

Thelbert Garrett
Funeral services for Mr. Thelbert Garrett, 76, of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Carles Walker and Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating. Burial was in Phillips cemetery in Hanging Limb with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Garrett died Tuesday, May 28 at his daughterÕs home in the Vines Ridge Community. He was a coal miner, a mechanic, and a member of Mineral Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a song leader for many years.

Born May 2, 1926, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Tom and Elsie (Lacy) Garrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae (Looper) Garrett, and a brother, Victor Garrett.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Ray Tucker, Hanging Limb, and Joyce and Jimmy Bullock, Vines Ridge Community; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Brilla Garrett, Monterey; a sister, Agnes Miller, Vines Ridge Community; four grandchildren, Starlett (Garrett) Lewis, Angela Ledbetter, Andy Ryan Bullock, and James Thomas Bullock; and a great granddaughter, Meghan Emily Ledbetter.

Betty Ardel Hummel
Graveside services for Miss Betty Ardel Hummel, 79, of Evansville, IN, and formerly of Clay County, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2002, at Fellowship cemetery with Bro. Ovle Tinch officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Hummel died Tuesday, May 28 in Chandler, IN. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.

Born November 10, 1922, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Arvil Dodson and Nannie Nora (Melton) Hummel.

Survivors include two brothers, Elmer Hummel, Denver, CO, and Edward Hummel, Allons; a sister, Erman Conner, Bluffton, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
