Ada Velma Carter
Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Velma Carter, 73, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 16, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Frazier officiating. Burial was in Bethel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Carter died Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory worker in the auto industry and a member of McFerrin United Methodist Church.

Born February 23, 1929, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late John Millard and Mary Avo (Johnson) Gray.

Survivors include a daughter, Jenny Forehand, Glasgow, KY; a brother, C.B. Gray, Timothy Community; a grandson, Douglas Boles, Cookeville; two granddaughters, Melinda Lewis, Timothy Community, and Kimberly Anderson, Cookeville; and six great grandchildren.

Cosby Davidson
Funeral services for Mr. Cosby Davidson, 87, of Pall Mall, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, from the chapel of Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Randy Tompkins officiating. Burial was in Smyrna cemetery with Brown Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Davidson died Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer, a logger, and an employee of the Highway Department for several years.

Born November 7, 1914, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Jim and Alice (Poore) Davidson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Davidson; his second wife, Pauline Davidson; a sister, Mae Evans; and six brothers, Joe Davidson, Earnest Davidson, Dean Davidson, Curt Davidson, Rosure Davidson, and Shellie Campbell.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Davidson, Pall Mall; three sons, Billy Davidson, Robby Davidson, and Ray Davidson, all of Byrdstown; two sisters, Mary Sells, Byrdstown, and Ruby Beaty, Crossville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Kendle Davidson, Ricky Davidson, Anthony Davidson, Lelan Davidson, Michael Davidson, and Jerry Poore.

Kenneth R. Forshee
Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth R. Forshee, 79, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Livingston Church of Christ with Bro. Chris Coil and Bro. Glenn Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with military honors conducted by James T. Davis Memorial VFW Post 5062 of Livingston. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Forshee died Wednesday, Aug. 13 at his home. He was a former regional district manager for Ford Motor Company, a member of Livingston Church of Christ, and a veteran of World War II and the Korea Conflict.

Born July 17, 1923, in Sayer, PA, he was the son of the late William Nelson and Sarah Pearl (Olmstead) Forshee. Survivors include his wife, Sara Forshee, Livingston; a daughter, Kimberly Forshee, Livingston; a brother, O.J. Stillman, Navarre, FL; and a sister, Fern Watts, Pensacola, FL.

Pallbearers were Steve Gallagher, Mark Gallagher, Glenn Gallagher, Linden Carwile, Herman Brady, Jacob Carwile, Matt Brady, and Ryan Smith.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Lansford Bilbrey, Jack Crabtree, Earl Carwile, David Dickerson, Jack Pigg, Glenn Goggins, Jack Glasscock, Percy Hill, Danny Norrod, Sam Ramsey, Johnny Rose, Pete Story, and Fred Maxwell.

Emily Ela Harper
Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Eliza Harper, 78, of Hilham, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Carrol R. Sutton officiating. Burial was in Hillside Memorial cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Harper died Friday, Aug. 9 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Born December 18, 1923, in Cedar Key, FL, she was the daughter of the late Richard Frank Dees and Mary Etta (Ogden) Freeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gabe Allen Harper Sr.; a daughter, Estelle Carmen Houston Megar; a son, Gabe Allen Harper Jr.; and a granddaughter, Shelly Lynn Yates.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, David Harper Sr., Boaz, AL, Steven and Dorless Harper, Cabot, AR, and John and Jennifer Harper, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alma and Jim Crawford, Hilham, and Betty Jane and Roger Yates, Attalla, AL; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Harper, Miami, FL; a son-in-law, Andrew Megar, Miami, FL; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers were David Harper Sr., Steven Harper, John Harper, Jim Crawford, Roger Yates, and Steven Morgan Jr.

Betty Jean Hensley
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Hensley, 65, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Nelson officiating. Burial was in Martin cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hensley died Saturday, Aug. 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired factory worker for Botany Shirt Company, a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Livingston, and affiliated with Independence Community Church.

Born October 12, 1936, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Veachel and Hattie (Waddel) Conner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hensley, and a brother, Jack Conner.

Survivors include two sisters, Judy Harris, Livingston, and Louise Sells Davis, Oakley Community; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Billy Joe Sells, Shannon Conner, David Conner, Mark Conner, Larry McDonald, Billy Witt, and Doug Reagan.

Marinda Kay Huddleston
Funeral services for Mrs. Marinda Kay Huddleston, 37, of Celina, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Kenneth McClain officiating. Burial was in McDonald cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Huddleston died Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory worker at Nielson Moulding Design Corporation.

Born July 30, 1965, in Gainesboro, she was the daughter of Katherine Burris and Benton Burris. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Kenneth Huddleston, Celina; two sons, Billy Thompson, Burkesville, KY, and Kenny Huddleston, Celina; a sister, Paula Likens, Celina; and two grandchildren.

Norvel Elton Phillips
Funeral services for Mr. Norvel Elton Phillips, 75, of Crossville, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Self officiating. Burial was in Camp Ground cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Phillips died Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith and a Marine/Army veteran of World War II.

Born March 9, 1927, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Martin and Laura (West) Phillips.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky Phillips and Cody Phillips, both of Crossville; two daughters, Jackie Bolin, Noma, FL, and Jill Phillips, Houston, TX; a brother, Odell Phillips, Illinois; two sisters, Christeen Farris and Mozelle Day, both of Anderson, IN; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Francis Lee Sells
Funeral services for Mrs. Francis Lee Sells, 91, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Liberty cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Sells died Saturday, Aug. 17 at Standing Stone Health Care. She was a factory worker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Born October 29, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Irver "Scott" and Nota (Speck) McDonald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Sells.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Cindy White, Livingston, and Michael Sells, Pleasant View; and several nieces and nephews.

David Leon Smith
Funeral services for Mr. David Leon Smith, 52, of Monroe, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Tompkins officiating. Burial was in Smith cemetery with military honors provided by the James T. Davis Memorial VFW Post 5062 of Livingston. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, Aug. 13 at his home. He was a grocery store owner.

Born October 22, 1949, in Putnam County, he was the son of James C. "Jake" Smith and the late Melba Orene (Shoemake) Smith. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Micheal Smith; and a sister, Betty Loren Smith. Survivors in addition to his father include a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Brandi Smith, Monroe; and a grandson, Nathaniel Smith, Monroe.

Pallbearers were Wayne Smith, Joe Spivey, Rick Gunter, Ronnie Hicks, Greg Hill, and Jackie Daniels.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Nathan Smith, Tony Priest, Charles Smith, Charles E. Smith, and John Rhodehavers.

Mitchell Ralph Strong
Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell Ralph Strong, 79, of Moss, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Dr. Art Cardona, Paul Strong, and Lynn Strong officiating. Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Strong died Thursday, Aug. 15 at Alvin C. York Medical Center. He was a farmer. Born March 1, 1923, in Moss, he was the son of the late Avery G. "Dave" and Loshie "Testament" Strong. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis Strong; and a sister, Toby Jean Birdwell.

Survivors include his wife, Gusta Lee (Swallows) Strong; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Strong, Mt. Juliet, Sam and Wanda Strong, Smyrna, and Justin Strong, Los Angeles, CA; a brother, Oliver Strong, Moss; two sisters, Thelma Dubois, Spring Hill, FL, and Pauline Goolsby, Moss; a sister-in-law, Thelma Strong, Moss; a grandchild; and two great grandchildren.

Rose Lee Copeland
Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Lee Copeland, 101, of Overton County, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Copeland died Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was a merchant.

Born January 3, 1899, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Louis Henry and Belle Calahan Carr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley E. Copeland.

Survivors include six nephews, Wallace Allred, Albany KY, and Robert Allred, Gary Carr, Tony Carr, Benji Carr, and Jeff Carr, all of Livingston; two nieces, Barbara Carr of Livingston and Pam Allred.

Pallbearers were Gary Carr, Tony Carr, J.C. Ferrill, Horace Poston, Gayron Franklin, and Clyde Hensley.

Leatha Gertrude Finley
Funeral services for Mrs. Leatha Gertude Finley, 88, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 24, 2000, from the chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home of Cookeville with Rev. Michael L. Prowse officiating. Burial was in Paran cemetery with Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Finley died Saturday, December 23, 2000, at Masters Health Care Center.

She was a retired insurance agent and a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church and the Ruth/Gleaners Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Cookeville Senior Citizens, Cookeville Home Demonstration, and the VFW Ladies Auxillary.

Born January 5, 1912, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Dan and Nancy Goolie Kimes Qualls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell Finley; two sisters, Sallie Mae Smith and Alice Oakley; and six brothers, Darlshel Qualls, Jim Qualls, Hobert Qualls, Boyd Qualls, Tilbert Qualls, and Joe Bob Qualls.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Mrs. Finley's nephews.

Lou Allen McCormick
Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Allen McCormick, 89, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Halliburton officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. McCormick died Saturday, December 23, 2000, at her home.

She was a former homemaker, teacher, and motel-restaurant owner. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Livingston for over 60 years.

Born April 17, 1911, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Malburn A. Allen and Vada Pippin Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Donald McCormick; a sister, Vallie Allen Newman; and a brother Harlon B. Allen.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Maxine McCormick, St. Louis, MO, and Reba and Jack Crabtree, Livingston; two grandchildren, Stan Crabtree, Nashville, and Tamara Crabtree, Cincinnati, OH; a sister, Clarissa McDaniel, Nashville; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Nan Allen, Morristown.

Pallbearers were Glenn Newman, John Allen, Donald Allen, and David Hicks.
