Flora (Johnson) Martin
Funeral services for Mrs. Flora (Johnson) Martin, 92, of Monroe, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Ledbetter and Bro. Cecil Shaw officiating. Burial was in the Martin cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Martin died Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Free Communion Church of Christ.

Born March 12, 1908, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Martin; a son, J.D. Martin; three sisters, Jane Ford, Annie Dulworth, and Cora Miller; four brothers, Marvin Johnson, Raymond Johnson, Charlie Johnson, and Roy Johnson; and a grandson, Gerald Seber.

Survivors include a daughter, Willa Dean Seber, Monroe; three grandchildren, Steve Martin, Barry Martin, and Gail McCormick; seven great granchildren, Tonya Baijo, Traye Seber, Brad McCormick, Blake McCormick, Shawn Martin, Adam Martin, and Makaylah Cole; four great- great grandchildren, Madison Baijo, Noah Baijo, Salem Baijo, and Gerald Seber; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Brad McCormick, Steve Martin, Barry Martin, Pat Baijo, Traye Seber, and Keith McCormick.

Lotie Harvey Watkins
Funeral services for Mrs. Lottie Harvey Watkins, 90, of Watertown, were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2000, from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. Newsome Harvey officiating. Burial was in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens with Hunter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Watkins died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at Quality Care Health Care Center in Lebanon.

She worked for the W.E. Stephens Shirt Factory in Watertown and Lebanon Woolen Mills. During her spare time, she spent 50 years as a sales representative of Avon products. She was active in the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron for a term and representing Lebanon Eastern Star at a national gathering in Oregon. She was a member of Watertown First Presbyterian Church and a past member of Watertown American Legion.

Born June 2, 1910, in Statesville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Ethel Jones and Lillie Murton Moore Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Newsome Harvey; her second husband, Thomas Earl Watkins; and a brother, Teddy R. Jones.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Ray and Virginia Harvey, Oak Ridge, and Rev. Newsome and Imogene Harvey, Livingston; four grandchildren, Brenda Owens, Lebanon, and Dwayne Daniel Harvey and David Earl Harvey, both of Livingston, and Robert Ray Harvey, Oak Ridge; seven great grandchildren, Christopher Scot Owens, Jillian Lee Owens, Madison Paige Harvey, Nathaniel David Harvey, Jonathan Michael Harvey, Dawn Lee Harvey, and Miriah Danielle Harvey.

Mary (Smith) Walker
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary (Smith) Walker, 91, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Cross officiating. Burial was in the Tompkins cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Walker died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wolf River Baptist Church.

Born June 15, 1909, in Clinton County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Caroline (Shelley) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Walker, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include four daughters, Nell Neal, Monra Buck, and Carolyn Cherry, all of Byrdstown, and Modean Winningham, Cookeville; a son, Glenn Walker, Star City, AR; a sister, Eunice Anderson, Byrdstown; four half-brothers, Ernest Smith and David Smith, both of Kentucky, and Levi Smith and Beacher Smith, both of Byrdstown; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Charlie Buck, Danny Winningham, Darrell Winningham, Joe Pryor, Freddie Hatfield, and Kenny Cherry.

Nora D. Mullins
Funeral services for Mrs. Nora D. Mullins, 71, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2000, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home in Byrdstown with Arnold Moon and James McCurdy officiating. Mrs. Mullins' grandson, Jared Mullins, served as a special speaker. Crestlawn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mullins died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

She was a homemaker.

Born September 9, 1929, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late William Spencer and Bertha Conaster Moon.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil Mullins, Byrdstown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Rebecca Mullins, Byrdstown, and Joey and Wanda Mullins, Albany, KY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Carey Garner, Byrdstown, and Vicky and Wayne Robbins, Cookeville; seven sisters, Dorothy Tompkins, Byrdstown, Cora Storie and Bessie Garrett, both of Ohio, Nell Beaty, Livingston, Ilene West, Pall Mall, and Norma Qualls and Betty Barton, both of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Mullins, Jamie Mullins, Jared Mullins, Jason Garner, Heather Leffew, Rachel Robbins, and Kallie Robbins; a great granddaughter, Sara Leffew; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jason Garner, Stacy West, Jared Mullins, Jeremy Mullins, Roger Moon, Sam Gibson, William Gibson, Ronnie Tompkins, Mitchell Beaty, and Jim Moon.

James Edward "Jimmy" Daniel
Funeral services for Mr. James Edward "Jimmy" Daniel, 64, of Selmer, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2000, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer with Rev. Max Walker, Gov. Don Sundquist, John T. Williams, Dr. Milton Sewell, and Jim Harrison officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery in Selmer with Shackelford Funeral Home of Selmer in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Daniel, West Tennessee Representative for Gov. Don Sundquist, died Friday, August 25, 2000, at his home.

Born September 9, 1935, in Madison County, he was the son of the late Eugene and Ardell Daniel.

He served two terms as president of the McNairy County Chamber of Commerce and he was a former chairman of the Chamber Industrial Development. He was also a former Selmer City Alderman and Statesman of the Year for the 7th Congressional District.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Williams Daniel, Selmer; two sons, James Michael Daniel, Union City, and William Andrew Daniel, Cordova; a daughter, Melanie Daniel Pafford, Chicago, IL; and a sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Newsome Harvey, Livingston.

Pallbearers were John McAdams, Joey Hargrove, John Everett Williams, Jimmy Exum, Jerry Woodall, and R.C. Stegall.

Ervin Dixon
Funeral services for Mr. Ervin Dixon, 88, of Monterey were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2000, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Dewitt Sampley officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Dixon, a retired factory worker, died Friday, August 25, 2000, at the Standing Stone Health Care Center in Monterey.

Born November 27, 1911, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Gib and Mary Catherine (Key) Dixon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Maye Short Dixon; three sisters, Clara Hargis, Cynthia Holloway, and Anna Mae Dixon; and four brothers, Paul Dixon, Walter Dixon, Clarence Dixon, and Rev. P.A. Dixon. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include two sisters, Myrtle Vaughn, Monterey, and Ella D. Raines, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys Pierce
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Pierce, 88, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2000, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home in Byrdstown with Gary Pruitt and Charles Jolley officiating. Burial was in the Tidrow cemetery in Pickett County with Crestlawn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Pierce, a retired county employee, died Thursday, August 24, 2000, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

Born February 20, 1912, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Dock E. and Alice Bell Tidrow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jahue Pierce. She was a member of the Bloomington Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Blan Keith and Jewel Pierce, Livingston, and Gordon L. and Nancy Pierce, Warren, MI; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Richard Pierce, Tony Shayota, David Pierce, Maxie Beaty, Elza Neal, and Josh Vitatoe.

William Haskell "Bill" Cooper
Funeral services for Mr. William Haskell "Bill" Cooper, 95, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2000, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cooper, a farmer, died Saturday, August 26, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 21, 1905, in Overton County, he was the son of the late George Cooper and Julie Verble Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Opal Eldridge Cooper; three brothers, Alex Cooper, Woodrow Cooper, and Oren Cooper; a sister, Velma Livesay; and a granddaughter, Sharron Ann Oakley Maddux. He was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Rickman.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Cooper, Antioch, and Glen Cooper, Rickman; a daughter, Billie Ann Oakley, Cookeville; a sister, Aline Stout, Crossville; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Jim Edd Eldridge, Randell Eldridge, Calvin Eldridge, Deloy Looper, Frank Cooper, and Donald Dillon.

Donald Ray Cobble
Funeral services for Mr. Donald Ray Cobble, 61, of Cookeville, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 30, 2000, from Zion Hill Methodist Church with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cobble, a retired employee of the AT&T production plant, died Monday, August 28, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born September 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Levi and Sylvia (Reed) Cobble. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Levi Cobble Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Frances (Matthews) Cobble, Cookeville; a sister, Shirley Cobble, Joelton; nine nieces and nephews, Jeff Cobble, Lebanon, Sandra Hall, Joelton, Shanna Cobble, Murfreesboro, Junior Matthews, Shelbyville, IN, Pennie Matthews, Fairland, IN, Callie Guinn, Greenfield, IN, Gary Matthews, McCordsville, IN, Alan Matthews, Indianapolis, IN, and Pam Matthews, Oklahoma; and several great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Junior Matthews, Wayne Guinn, Jeffrey Cobble, Jack Hall, Alan Matthews, Callie Guinn, Pennie Matthews, and Debbie Matthews.

Owen Mason Beaty
Funeral services for Mr. Owen Mason Beaty, 83, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2000, from the chapel of Moodyville Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Amonette officiating. Burial was in Beaty cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Beaty, former owner of a grocery store and a farmer, died Saturday, October 7, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 3, 1917, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Ike and Ida (Manis) Beaty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christel Beaty; and an infant sister.

He was a member of the Pickett County Election Commission for twenty-five years.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Carol Beaty, Jamestown; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Becky Beaty and Maxie Beaty, all of Byrdstown; one brother, Ancel Beaty, Byrdstown; six grandchildren, Jenine Copeland, and Joe Shelton, both of Jamestown, Monica Garrett, Jamie Beaty, Chris Beaty, Kendall Beaty, and Josh Beaty, all of Byrdstown; eight great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Pallbearers were Kendall Beaty, Chris Beaty, David Beaty, Dana Beaty, Joe Shelton, and Kendle Davidson.

Gracie Mae Reed
Funeral services for Mrs. Gracie Mae Reed, 88, of Algood, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2000, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville with Bro. Comer McGuire officiating. Burial was in Zion Hill cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Reed, a homemaker, died Thursday, October 5, 2000, at Masters Health Care Center in Algood.

Born March 25, 1912, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Scott and Etta Mae (McCulley) Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Reed; two sisters, Lola Norris and Gladys Webb; and five brothers, Horace Webb, Carson Webb, Addison Webb, Kenneth Webb, and Lawrence Webb.

She was a charter member of Algood Senior Citizens and a member of Rickman Church of God.

Survivors include a sister, Jewel Whiteaker Vanwinkle, Algood; three brothers, Otto Webb, Hartsville, and J.T. Webb and Carl Webb, both of Crossville; a niece, Ruth Moss, Algood; and additional nieces, nephews, and other family members.
