Charles L. Warden
Funeral services for Mr. Charles L. Warden, 53, of Hilham, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2000, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Ronald Strong officiating. Burial was in the Lynn Family cemetery in the Tinsley Bottom Community of Clay County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Warden, a factory employee, died Saturday, October 21, 2000 at the Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 26, 1946, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Charlie Carlos "Toot" Warden and Elene (Boles) Warden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Kenneth Boles.

He was a member of the Hilham Church of Christ and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Tina Warden, Hilham; a brother, David Warden, Gainesboro; and two sisters, Janice Warden, Gainesboro, and Karen Tidwell, Hilham.

Elsie Mae Cantrell
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Mae Cantrell, 72, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Miller cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cantrell, a housewife, died Monday, October 9, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born April 7, 1928, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late James and Elva (Abbott) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard H. Cantrell; two brothers, Edmond Brown and Edward Brown; and a sister, Ethel Hammons.

She was a member of Allons Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, James Brown Jr., Celina, and Varnie Brown, Livingston; two sisters, Kay Smith and Carol Hammock, both of Livingston; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Lillian Sherrill. Pallbearers were Ted Burchett, Darrell Beason, Rick Danner, Earl Harris, Ray Hammock, and Randall Hall.

Vaden Norrod
Funeral services for Mrs. Vaden Norrod, 88, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2000, at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. A.J. Looper officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery with Goff Funeral Home of Monterey in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Norrod, a homemaker, died Friday, October 13, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born September 15, 1912, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Dock and Cassie (Neely) Looper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Norrod. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Ella Bilbrey, Monterey, and Carol Fugate, Anderson, IN; two sons, Willie Benton Norrod, Anderson, IN, and Danny Norrod, Monterey; three sisters, Christine Whittaker, Monterey, Anna Tinch, Rickman, and Bertie Mae Wilson, Rickman; four brothers, Roscoe Looper and Ray Looper, both of Rickman, Enloe Looper, Alturas, CA, and Arlie Looper, Anderson, IN; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Hilrey A. Carr
Graveside services for Mr. Hilrey A. Carr, 65, of Dalton, GA, and formerly of Livingston, were conducted a 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at United Memorial Gardens in Dalton, GA, with Julian Peeples Funeral Home of Dalton, GA, in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Carr, a retired wrestling and football coach, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at his home.

Born February 11, 1935, in Livingston, he was the son of the late Robert and Slomey Carr.

He coached at North Whitfield Middle School in Dalton, GA, for more than 20 years before retiring in 1993. He was a former Livingston Academy football great in 1954-1955, before going on to play on the same 1956 University of Tennessee football team as Johnny Majors.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Carr, Dalton, GA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Georgie Carr, Decherd, and Bo and Cindy Carr, Manchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Todd Markham, Hazel Green, AL; three brothers, Fred Carr, Livingston, Thurman Carr, LaGrange, IN, and Burnis Carr, Dayton, OH; a sister, Lelar Stout, Aiken, SC; and three grandchildren, Austin Markham, Logan Markham, and Kendall Markham. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in Coach Carr's honor to the North Whitfield Middle School Athletic Department, 3624 Cleveland Hwy., Dalton, GA 30721.

Mitch Kellow
Funeral services for Mr. Mitch Kellow, 70, of Celina, were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2000, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home of Celina with Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Burial was in McDonald cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Kellow, a retired farmer, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Cumberland River North Hospital in Celina.

Born December 19, 1929, in Hilham, he was the son of the late James Gordon and Maggie Lynn Kellow.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Kellow, Nashville; a step-daughter, Lois Thompson, Nashville; two brothers, Carl Kellow, Gainesboro, and Paul Kellow, Indianapolis, IN; four sisters, Dorothy Strong, Clayton, IN, Christine McClain, Helen Spivey, both of Hilham, and Adean McCollom, Indianapolis, IN; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Majorie L. Bryant
Graveside services for Mrs. Marjorie L. Bryant, 63, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Hebbertsburg cemetery in Cumberland County with Bro. Michael McCoy officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bryant, a homemaker, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born July 25, 1936, in Crossville, she was the daughter of the late Brance and Viola Barnes Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Bryant.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Galyon, Ft. Pierce, FL, and Joel Turner and Larry Jenkins, both of Crossville; two brothers, Brance Myers, Jr. and Donald Myers, both of Crossville; two sisters, Joyce McLemore, Nashville, and Georgia Lynch, Crossville; and four grandchildren.

Sarah Alice Mace
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Alice Mace, 82, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mace, a retired factory worker, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born August 26, 1917, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mae Newberry Ledford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Eller Ledford; two brothers, Orbie Ledford and Lyman Ledford; three sisters, Florence Flowers, Patsy Reeder and Emogene Ledford; and a grandson, James Michael Collins.

Survivors include three sons, Leonard Collins, Rickman, and Johnny Collins and Mike Collins, both of Cookeville; a brother, Wilmoth Ledford, Livingston; four sisters, Carolyn Vaughn, Donelson, Dean Hulett, Hendersonville, and Anna V. Carr, and Joyce Hancock, both of Livingston; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Billie Steve McCormick
Funeral services for Mr. Billie Steve McCormick, 48, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 15, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Terry McCloud officiating. Burial was in Hoover cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McCormick, a manager of a rental business, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born May 7, 1952, in Overton County, he was the son of Sara Ina Carr McCormick of Livingston and the late Miles Herman, McCormick, Jr.

He was affiliated with Allons Assembly of God. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Connie McCormick, Livingston; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law, Ricky and Laura Buck, Liberty, KY; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sherlene McCormick, Livingston,Janice and Johnny Bowers, Livingston; two nieces; a nephew; and a great niece.

Pallbearers were Dale Maxfield, James Handy, David Garrett, Aaron Maxfield, Chris Buck, David Harris, Kenneth Bilbrey, and Dwayne Rogers.

Lester R.D. Ledbetter
Funeral services for Mr. Lester R.D. Ledbetter, 77, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Strong officiating. Burial was in Fiske cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ledbetter, an auto factory worker, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born March 15, 1923, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Troy and Della Greenwood Ledbetter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Ledbetter.

He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons; Danny Ledbetter, Nashville, and Lanny Ledbetter, Livingston; four daughters, Lila Valentine, Allons, Gail Howard and Judy Moss, both of Hilham, and Shelia Winningham and Alice Rogers, both of Livingston; a brother, J.C. Ledbetter, Murfreesboro; a sister, Lillian Vaughn, Livingston; 14 grandsons; five granddaughters; and 13 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Josh White, Toby White, Mike Winningham, Benny Allen, Sam Howard, Richard White, and Scott Winningham.

Lois Sells Eldridge
Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Sells Eldridge, 69, of Alpine, will be held today, Wednesday, June 21 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Eldridge died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Alba Sells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Eldridge Jr.; a son, James Edward Eldridge; three brothers, Sam Sells, Willard Sells, and Carvel Tays; and two sisters, Lola Norris and Lena Norris.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Larry Cooper, Alpine; three sisters, Arxie Jones, and Della Chilton, both of Alpine, and Dorothy Vella Moore, Algood; and a granddaughter, Amy Cooper, Alpine.

Pallbearers were Jeff Collins, Doug Ledbetter, Roger Smith, Matt Smith, Mike Boswell, Kenneth Swallows, Kent Copeland, and David Copeland. Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Collins, Jacob Collins, and Bud Swallows.

Ronald Ray Maxwell
Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Ray Maxwell, 52, of Davidson County, were conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral with Rev. Malcolm Hill and Rev. Mike Tidwell officiating. Burial was in Hilham cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Maxwell died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at his home.

Born March 23, 1948, in Lebanon, he was the son of Ray Lester Maxwell and Velma Olean Ward Maxwell of Hilham. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his care parents, John and Tammy Tucker, Madison; his step-grandmother, Emily Maxwell, Hilham; two brothers, Tommy Joe Maxwell, Hilham, and Timothy Wayne Maxwell, Allons; two nephews; one niece; and one great niece.

Pallbearers were Michael Maxwell, Tyler Maxwell, Mark Maxwell, Charles Maxwell, Frank Ward and Jack McCormick.

Ray Junior Boles
Funeral services for Mr. Ray Junior Boles, 60, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Joy Langford officiating. Burial was in the Turkeytown cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Boles died Saturday, February 10, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was formerly a mechanic and was employed at Honest Abe Log Homes.

Born January 1, 1941, in Hilham, he was the son of Agnes (Dillon) Boles of Celina and the late Kay Tinsley Boles.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a son, Ray N. Boles, Hilham; two daughters, Julie K. Wilbourn, New Market, AL, and Ruth Ann Barr, Huntsville, AL; two brothers, David Boles, Celina, and William Boles, Whiteville, TN; a sister, Carolyn (Boles) Webb, Celina; and four grandchildren.

Bonza Oleeva (Martin) Dennis
Funeral services for Mrs. Bonza Oleeva (Martin) Dennis, 77, of Athens, were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2001, from the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens with Rev. Jimmy Price officiating. Burial will be in the Fellowship cemetery in Overton County today, Wednesday, February 21, 2001, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ron Harris officiating. Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dennis died Monday, February 19, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of Mt. Verd Baptist Church, the W.M.U. and the Eastern Star. She was retired from Harrod's Thrift Mart and Bakery.

Born in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Dillard Filmore and Maude (Lankford) Martin.

Survivors include a son, Estes Dennis, Athens; a daughter and son-in-law, Tannis and Tom Blackwell, Marietta, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Bulos and Barbara Martin, Livingston; a sister and brother-in-law, Bessie and Joe Guay, St. Albans, ME; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
