Alfred "Fred" Dial
Funeral services for Mr. Alfred "Fred' Dial, 82, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, from the chapel of Rickman Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Phillips, Bro. Ovle Tinch, and Bro. Norman Eugene McCowan officiating. Burial was in Old Zion cemetery with Rickman Funeral Home and Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Dial died Sunday, Feb. 3 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired saw mill operator and a Veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army.

Born March 2, 1919, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Sallie (Hayes) Dial. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darrel Dial.

Survivors include his wife, Auda Vera (Garrett) Dial, Cookeville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randall Fred and Judy Dial and Roger Dale and Judy Dial, all of Rickman, and Bryant and Teri Dial, Cookeville; four daughters and son-in-laws, Janet and Harold M. Gore and Diane and Norman King, all of Livingston, Danette and Michael Miller, Vines Ridge, and Carla and Randy Bailey, Baxter; a sister, Nell (Dial) Garrett, Rome, GA; 11 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jason Miller, Ryan Miller, Randy Dial, Darrin Gore, David King, and Anthony King. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Dewayne Dial, Eddie Webb, J.B. Deck, Mark Poston, and Ralph Phillips.

Aron V. Ferrill
Funeral services for Mr. Aron V. Ferrill, 87, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Wilson officiating. Burial was in Carr cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ferrill died Monday, Jan. 21 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a mechanic and farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

Born August 6, 1914, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Everett Dallas and Nora (Carr) Ferrill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie (Carr) Ferrill.

Survivors include four sons, Gerald Ferrill and Carl Ferrill, both of Livingston, Charles Ferrill, Algood, and Rex Ferrill, Lake Odessa, MI; two daughters, Jane Ruzansky, Philadelphia, PA, and Sue Choate, Battle Creek, MI; a brother, J.C. Ferrill, Livingston; three sisters, Beatrice Hill, Eva Mae Ferrill, and Mary Ferrill, all of Livingston; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dan Ruzansky, Troy Ferrill, Jason Ferrill, Brandon Ferrill, Rodney Winters, Jack Cruser, and Rick Gillespie.

Norma Coffman
Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Coffman, 87, of Hilham, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Boles officiating. Burial was in the Hilham cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Coffman died Monday, February 12, 2001, at the Overton County Nursing Home. She was a retired factory worker and a member of the Hilham Church of Christ.

Born January 1, 1914, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Andy Paul and Florence (Pigg) Langford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ray Coffman; a son, Howard Coffman; and a sister, Delores Yurkanin.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Coffman, Hilham; a daughter, Mary Sue Matthias, Hagerstown, MD; a brother, Paul Langford, Roseville, MI; a sister, Stella Eldridge, Livingston; six grandchildren; and a great granddaugther.

Pallbearers were Mark Matthias, Matthew Matthias, David Matthias, Terry Coffman, James Hicks, and Paul Coffman.

Charles R. Bilyeu
Funeral services for Mr. Charles R. Bilyeu, 87, of Anderson, IN, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, from the chapel of Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson, IN. Burial was in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery in Anderson,IN, with Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bilyeu, retired employee of the City of Anderson, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at St. John's Health System ER in Anderson, IN.

Born July 8, 1912, in Hilham, he was the son of the late Marion and Ida (Buron) Bilyeu. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ester Bennett. He attended the Anderson Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie (Maxwell) Bilyeu, Anderson, IN; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ron and Carol Bilyeu, Anderson, IN, and Larry "Joe" Bilyeu, Hemphill, TX; four grandchildren, Jerry Bilyeu, Jeff Bilyeu, Jody Bilyeu, and Jama Bilyeu; three great grandchildren, Jessica Bilyeu, Hannah Bilyeu, and Abby Bilyeu; and several nieces and nephews.

Mikie Joe Newberry
Funeral services for Mr. Mikie Joe Newberry, 46, of Wilder, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Halliburton officiating. Burial was in Smith cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Newberry, a dry wall finisher, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at his home.

Born October 7, 1953, in Putnam County, he was the son of Edna Charline Cook Newberry Richardson of Grimsley and the late Albert Bobby Newberry.

He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include five brothers, Bobby Newberry, Ft. Wayne, IN, Timmy Newberry and David Newberry, both of Crawford, and Ray Newberry and Shawn Newberry, both of Jamestown; and six sisters, Randa Ashley, Florida, Nancy Bennett, Jamestown, Becky Newberry, Athens, and Debbie Newberry, Gerry Newberry, and Sonia Newberry, all of Grimsley.

Pallbearers were Timmy Newberry, Bobby Newberry, David Newberry, Shawn Newberry, Adam Newberry, Robert Newberry, Douglas Newberry and Steve Walker.

Henry Leo "Little LEO" Beechboard Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Henry Leo "Little Leo" Beechboard Jr., 41, of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Eugene McCowan officiated.

Mr. Beechboard died Tuesday, Nov. 12 at his home. He worked most of his life at Hills Department Store in Anderson, IN. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Livingston.

Born September 23, 1961, in Anderson, he was the son of Henry Leo Sr. and Virginia "Ginny" (Morris) Beechboard of Allons.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members and friends. Pallbearers were Greg Phillips, Harold Scott, Dale Long, Paul White, Glen Ledbetter, and Kenneth Ward.

Mattie C. (Maxwell) Bilyeu
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie C. (Maxwell) Bilyeu, 82, of Anderson, IN, were conducted at noon Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, from the chapel of Rozell-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson. Burial was in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery. Rev. Harold Milner officiated.

Mrs. Bilyeu died Monday, Nov. 11 at Rolling Hills Conv. Center in Anderson after an extended illness. She was employed in the production department of Barber Manufacturing for 12 years. Her interests included cooking, gardening, crocheting, and quilting.

Born June 6, 1920, in Hilham, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Lou (Harper) Maxwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bilyeu; two sisters, Annie Johnson and Mable McCoy; and a brother, Willie Howard Maxwell.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ron and Carol Bilyeu of Anderson and "Joe" Bilyeu of Hemphill, TX; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Maxwell and Bob and Mary Maxwell, all of Connersville, IN; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lena Hawkins, Tommie McGuire, Janice and Junior Carter, and Sue and Jack Gibbons, all of Algood, and Beulah Harvey of Anderson; four grandchildren, Jerry and Paula Bilyeu, Jody Bilyeu, and Jama Bilyeu, all of Anderson, and Jeff and Tonya Bilyeu of Dumfries, VA; three great grandchildren, Jessica Bilyeu, Hannah Bilyeu, and Abby Bilyeu, all of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Georgia Elizabeth (Young) Bryant
Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Elizabeth (Young) Bryant, 84, of Algood, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial will be in Paran cemetery. Bro. Ovle Tinch and Bro. Harold Walker will officiate.

Mrs. Bryant died Sunday, Nov. 17 at Bethesda Health Care. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Born November 17, 1918, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Timothy C. and Minnie (Terry) Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bryant; and two granddaughters, Rebecca Ann Garrett and Kimberly Mary Les.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Pam Bryant of Rickman, Jack and Pam Bryant of Algood, and James "Randy" and Debra Bryant of Cookeville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty and George Seber of Allons, Martha Les and Susan Coronado, both of Cookeville, and Barbara and Carl Garrett of Rickman; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Bryant's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Margaret Elizabeth (Hembree) Carr
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth (Hembree) Carr, 89, of Knoxville, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Old Union cemetery. Bro. Grant Standifer officiated.

Mrs. Carr died Tuesday, Nov. 12 at U.T. Knoxville Hospital. She was a retired garment factory worker and a member of Farragut Church of Christ.

Born February 9, 1913, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Della (Gillentine) Hembree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Hugh Carr; two sons, John Paul Carr and Joseph Henry Carr; two brothers, Robert Hembree and Paul Hembree; and two sisters, Henrettia Greenwood and Bernice Jackson.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerome Edwin and Sue (Brazle) Carr of Knoxville; a daughter and son-in-law, Mabel Lillian and Martin Hazlett of Knoxville; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Hughs Carr and Joyce Cox Carr, both of Antonio, TX; a brother, Charles Hembree of Kettering, OH; and 10 grandchildren, Ronnie, Sandy, Bill, Windy, John Jr., Cammie, Greg, Jami, Machael, and Joey.

Pallbearers were Joe Carr, Bill Hazlett, John Carr Jr., John Markowski, Gary Rector, and Robert Bogavich.

Mahala Flowers
Funeral services for Mrs. Mahala Flowers, 78, of Monroe, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Flowers cemetery. Rev. Perry Clayton officiated.

Mrs. Flowers died Thursday, Nov. 14 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Martin's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Born May 22, 1924, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Pinkney and Rosetta (Jones) Beaty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoy Flowers; a sister, Eliza Richardson; and six brothers, Edward Beaty, William Beaty, Douglas Beaty, Curtis Beaty, Forster Beaty, and Louis Beaty.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Alexander and Kathleen Beaty of Pall Mall; three sisters-in-law, Eliza F. Beaty of Byrdstown, Eva P. Beaty of Jamestown, and Gertie Beaty of Pall Mall; and several nieces and nephews.

Hobert Clifton Huffine
Funeral services for Mr. Hobert Clifton Huffine, 90, of Laurens, SC, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, from Kennedy Mortuary Chapel in Laurens with Rev. Ted Rush and Rev. Roger Tripp officating. A committal service with Masonic rites was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Chattanooga.

Mr. Huffine died Tuesday, Nov. 12 at National Health Care Center. He worked for 3M Corporation for 35 years before retiring as manager of the company's tool and die shop. He also worked four years until he retired with Lowry Mechanical. He attended Tennessee Tech in Cookeville and was a member of Hejaz Shrine Temple, Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the United States of America, Red Bank Masonic Lodge 717 Free and Accepted Masons, National Wildlife Federation, and National Rifle Association. He was also an active member of Laurens Church of Christ, where he was a former treasurer.

Born November 16, 1911, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Theodore Thurston and Maudie (Flatt) Huffine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Lucille (Ward) Huffine; a son, Capt. Melvin Thomas Huffine; a sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle Gertrude (Huffine) and Estel B. Smith; three brothers, William Clarence Huffine, Hilman Howard Huffine, and Freddy Arnold Huffine; and three grandchildren, James Huffine Davis, James Clifton Huffine, and David Ward Huffine.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Inez Brooks Martin Huffine of Laurens; a daughter and son-in-law, Faye (Huffine) and Steve Altman of Williamsburg, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ward Thurston and Bobbie A. Huffine of Knoxville and Gene Ellis and Judith F. Huffine of Hixon; three sisters, Edith Masters of Dayton, OH, Gwendola Garrett of Anderson, IN, and Nadean Smith of Gainesboro; five grandsons, Samuel Clifton Davis and wife Cortney W., Chris Huffine, Charles Huffine, William Keith Huffine and wife Misty, and Eric Martin Huffine; and four great grandchildren, Taylor Huffine, Jacob Huffine, Serena Huffine, and Kali Lambard.

Serving as honorary escorts were 3M retirees and workers. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Lillie Belle Jackson
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Belle Jackson, 82, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, from the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery. Bro. Dewitt Sampley and Bro. Paul Fox officiated the services.

Mrs. Jackson died Thursday, Nov. 14 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church.

Born July 14, 1920, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Rosie Lee (Short) Dishman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Myrtle Oakley Dishman; four sisters, Velma Conley, Beulah Haney, Christine Atkinson, and Bertha Mae Dishman; three brothers, Jesse Dishman, Clayton Dishman, and Charlie Thomas Dishman; and a step-grandson, Terry Bouldin.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Clinton Odell Jackson of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie Maxine and Kenneth Fox of Cookeville and Ruby Lorene and Dennis Smith of Clarkrange; three sons and daughters-in-law, George Leroy and Joy Wilmoth of McMinnville, Johnny and Patricia Jackson and Donnie and Onda Jackson, all of Cookeville; 10 grandchildren, Gary Wilmoth, Regina Wiggins, J.R. Jackson, J.D. Jackson, Justin Jackson, Iris Jackson, Janet Fox, Jennifer Stephens, Jason Smith, and Tim Smith; a step-granddaughter, Renee Simmons Morgan; a great grandson, Ben Wiggins; and 4 step-grandchildren, Adam Simmons, Jeff Simmons, Brett Simmons, and J.T. Morgan.

Pallbearers were Gary Wilmoth, J.R. Jackson, J.D. Jackson, Justin Jackson, Jason Smith, Tim Smith, Michael Wiggins, and Joshua Stephens.

Hauta Eunice Ledbetter
Funeral services for Mrs. Hauta Eunice Ledbetter, 96, of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Hunter Cove cemetery. Bro. Thurman Sebers officiated.

Mrs. Ledbetter died Sunday, Nov. 10 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Born February 7, 1906, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Bennie (Daniels) Holman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ledbetter; two brothers; four sisters; and two sons-in-law.

Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Wanda and Lloyd Thurman of Livingston, Bobbie and Ezell Thurman and Clara Hunter, all of Allons, and O.V. Apollos of Gallatin; two sons, Coy Ledbetter and James Ledbetter, both of Allons; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ledbetter's grandsons and great grandsons served as pallbearers.
