Bruce Phillips
Funeral services for Mr. Bruce Phillips, 34, of Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. Burial was in Phillips cemetery. Rev. Mike Kirby and Rev. Richard Rollins officiated.

Mr. Phillips died Saturday, Nov. 16 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was a logger and heavy equipment operator, a member of Hanging Limb Missionary Baptist Church, and a 1986 graduate of Monterey High School.

Born June 17, 1968, in Monterey, he was the son of Harvey and Diane (Phipps) Phillips of Monterey.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two daughters, Lorene Phillips and Elizabeth Phillips, both of Monterey; a son, Matthew Phillips of Monterey; his fiancˇe, Marie Wright of Monterey; his maternal grandmother, Cliva Phipps of Monterey; his paternal grandmother, Ferbia Phillips of Monterey; two sisters, Mary Ann Henry and Debra Cantrell, both of Monterey; and two brothers, Stacy Phillips of Hanging Limb and Alex Phillips of Monterey.

Lula (Looper) Phillips
Funeral services for Mrs. Lula (Looper) Phillips, 82, of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. Burial was in Phillips cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Wilson and Rev. Talmadge Welch officiated.

Mrs. Phillips died Thursday, Nov. 14 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a school teacher in Overton County, having taught at Columbia Hill, Thompson Flatt, Anderson Community, Union B, Mineral Springs, and Twinton. She was a member of Hanging Limb Baptist Church.

Born February 3, 1920, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Darling and Dora (Clark) Looper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Holland Phillips.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold and Oma (Bilbrey) Phillips of Chesapeake, VA, and Earl and Louise (Bowman) Phillips of Hanging Limb; three brothers, George Looper, D.M. Looper, and Center Looper, all of Anderson, IN; two sisters, Sara Duncan of Anderson and Emogene Pickle of Johnson City; three grandchildren and their spouses, Cortes Earl and Tammy Phillips of Hanging Limb, Dana Kevin Phillips of Newport News, VA, and Sherry and Jackie Farley of Monterey; and three great grandchildren, Levi Phillips, Shelley Phillips, and Matthew M. Phillips.

Dimple Magdalene Pullins
Funeral services for Mrs. Dimple Magdalene Collins, 79, of Muncie, IN, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, from the chapel of Garden View Funeral Home in Muncie. Burial was in Gardens of Memory cemetery.

Mrs. Pullins died Friday, Nov. 8 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was a cook at Ball State University in Muncie before her retirement and a member of Ball State Sympathy Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Pullins; a daughter, Betty Jean Pullins; and five brothers.

Survivors include three sons, Grady Tayse of Akron, OH, Thomas Pullins of Muncie, and Bill Pullins of Parker City, IN; two daughters, Elaine Wooten and Kathy Pullins, both of Muncie; two sisters, Laura Ledford of Livingston and Evelyn Walker of Cookeville; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Darrell Morris Rhoton
Funeral services for Mr. Darrell Morris Rhoton, 63, of Moss, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina. Burial was in Macedonia cemetery in Moss. Paul Stringer officiated.

Mr. Rhoton died Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. He was a truck driver for Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Born June 7, 1939, in Boles, KY, he was the son of Flora (Denton) Rhoton of Moss and the late Reed Rhoton.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Shirley (White) Rhoton of Celina; three daughters, Brianna Rhoton of Moss, Tammy Sloan of Lascassas, and Elizabeth Rosbury of Warner-Robbins, GA; five brothers, Carl Rhoton of Tompkinsville, KY, Fred Rhoton of Oxford, MS, Paul Rhoton of Nashville, Jerry Rhoton of Celina, and Mike Rhoton of Sparta; two sisters, Ina Davis of Bowling Green, KY, and Sandra Head of Hestand, KY; and four grandchildren.

Willowdean Dudley Webb
Funeral services for Mrs. Willowdean Dudley Webb, 71, of Celina, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina. Burial was in Webb cemetery. Kenny Westmoreland officiated.

Mrs. Webb died Monday, Nov. 11 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a director for Tennessee Department of Human Services and a member of Beech Bethany Church of Christ.

Born December 2, 1930, in Celina, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mattie Kelma (Key) Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Otis Webb.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Webb of Celina; two step-daughters, Linda Rich of Celina and Joan Stinson of Conroe; and three half-sisters, Oneal Spoonamore, Wanne Davis, and Patricia Hale, all of Burkesville, KY.

Clara E. West
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara E. West, 83, of Rickman, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home. Burial was in Netherland cemetery. Bro. Mark Loftis officiated.

Mrs. West died Monday, Nov. 11 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a member of Netherland Church of Christ.

Born June 10, 1919, in Hilham, she was the daughter of the late Will and Mildred (Langford) Elam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac "Ike" West; and a daughter, Barbara Winborn.

Survivors include a nephew and his wife, Billy and Faye Elam of Cookeville; and a niece, Evelyn Smith of Cookeville. Pallbearers were Bob Roberson, John Randolph, Dewey Ogletree, Jeff Jones, Rev. A.J. Cox, and Jimmy Smith.

Betty J. Harris
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty J. Harris, 62, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Nolan Cantrell and Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Harris Chapel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Harris, a housewife, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Standing Stone Health Care Center.

Born July 12, 1937, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Woodley Looper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther J. Harris; and a brother, Clifford Looper.

She was a member of Three Forks Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include, a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Patricia Harris, Dry Hollow Community; a foster son, Joe Hammons, Spring Creek Community; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Fred Gaw, Rickman; a brother, Melvin Looper, Rickman; three sisters, Joyce Ray, Dry Hollow Community, Mary Swallows, Rickman, and Doris Fox, Anderson; a grandson, Jason Harris, Dry Hollow Community; an honorary granddaughter, Cheyenne Burgess, Hardys Chapel; a stepmother, Hallie Looper, Spring Creek Community; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Jenie Looper; a former sister-in-law, Letha Looper; all her friends at Standing Stone Health Care Center; and a special friend, Tosha O'Neal.

Charlie Elmer Masters
Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Elmer Masters, 92, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Masters died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born October 18, 1907, he was the son of the late James and Avo (Carr) Masters.

Survivors include several cousins. Pallbearers were Carl Masters, Leon Flatt, Glenn Gore, Earl Carr, Tom Goodpasture, and Ronnie Goodpasture.

Albert Terry Mitchell
Funeral services for Mr. Albert Terry Mitchell, 66, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. John Copeland and Bro. Bobby Buford officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Mitchell, truck driver and former Overton County Sheriff from (1972-78), died July 6, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Hospital.

Born February 16, 1934, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Albert Bates and Allie Maude Deck Mitchell.

He attended Grace Baptist Church and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Livingston Masonic Lodge #259.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Hayes Mitchell, Livingston; two sons, Terry Wayne Mitchell and Christopher Mitchell, both of Livingston; a daughter, Cynthia Eldridge, Livingston; a brother, W.R. Mitchell, Livingston; and four grandchildren, Misty Cooper, Sacha Mitchell, Ashley Mitchell, and Hannah Mitchell.

Pallbearers were Richard "Ossie" Mitchell, Dicky Mitchell, David Mitchell, Terry Eldridge, Jerry Windle, and Carl Hayes.

Nellie Olen Henry
Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Olen Henry, 86, of Maryville and formerly of Boles Town, were conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2000, from the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home of Maryville with Rev. Eugene McCowan officiating. Burial was Saturday, July 8, 2000, in Boles Town cemetery with Memorial Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Henry died Wednesday, Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Fairpark Health Care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zach Henry; and two sons, James Henry and Donald Henry.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Sally and Max Copeland, Maryville, and Beulah and Don Smedley, Albany, IN; 13 grandchildren and 8 spouses, Tony "Max" and Renae Copeland, Michael and Helen Copeland, Shiela and Allen Dykes, Debbie Newton, Patty and James Yates, Willard and Joann Stowers, Ronnie and Julie Barker, Rhonda and Jerry Jarrells, Jerry and Linda Smedley, Danny Joe Stowers, Donnie Kessear, Jeff Henry, and Jamie Henry; and 18 great grandchildren.

Arleth Ray Duke
Funeral services for Mr. Arleth Ray Duke, 66, of Livingston, were conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Kerry Duke and Bro. John Houser officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Duke, self-employed in the auto body business, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at his home.

Born January 27, 1934, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Sid and Cora (Pryor) Duke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Eddress (Davis) Duke; two sisters, Annette Gilpatrick and Christine Farmer; and a brother, Fowler Duke.

He was a member of the West End Church of Christ and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Ann Duke, Livingston; two sons, Kerry Duke, Cookeville, and Timmy Duke, Livingston; a daughter, Phyllis Crawford, Livingston; four brothers, Robert Duke, Livingston, James Duke, Macon, GA, Earl Glenn Duke, Nashville, and Charles Duke, Taylors Cross Roads Community; and five sisters, Betty Brown, Michigan, Billie Matheny, Donelson, Sonya Watkins, Allons, Emma Dean Cook, Nashville, and Linda Patterson, Nashville.

Pallbearers were Roy Pennington, Danny Kraft, Frank Koger, Steve Mullinix, Ronald Moody, and Edd Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Oren Frank Huddleston and Paul Norris.

Dimple Irene McWhorter
Funeral services for Mrs. Dimple Irene McWhorter, 60, of Celina, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2000, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Kenny Westmoreland and Robert Thurman officiating. Burial was in the Turkeytown cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. McWhorter, a homemaker, died Wednesday, October 11, 2000, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina.

Born September 20, 1940, in Gainesboro, she was the daughter of the late John B. Boles and Annie (Hammock) Boles.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Gary McWhorter, Celina, and Greg Boles, Gainesboro; three daughters, Thelma Crabtree, Rickman, and Lori Moss and Lisa Paul, both of Celina; three brothers, Logan Boles, Indianapolis, IN, and Howard Boles and Paul Boles, both of Celina; two half-brothers, Herman Beechboard, Celina, and Clyde Dillon, Gainesboro; three sisters, Thelma Beechboard and Maxine Boles, both of Celina, and Kate Griffin, Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Allie Ruth Lynn Warden
Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Ruth Lynn Warden, 80, of Gainesboro, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2000, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Sean Dozier, Bro. Jimmy Anderson, and Bro. Donald Chaffin officiating. Burial was in the Lynn Family cemetery in the Tinsley Bottom Community of Clay County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Warden, a homemaker, died Friday, October 13, 2000, at her home in the Hamilton's Branch Community of Jackson County.

Born June 14, 1920, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Sammie Lee Lynn and Margaret (Tinsley) Lynn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.B. "Bill" Warden; two infant sons; and one grandson, John Mark Warden.

She was a member of the Sugar Creek Church of Christ in Jackson County.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard and Lorene Warden, Cookeville, and Billy Harold and Verneal Warden, Celina; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Louise M. and Bobby G. Cox, Old Hickory, Margaret and Reed Gray, Allons, and Kathy and Marvin Badger, Monterey; two sisters, Elizabeth Dee Martin, Hermitage, and Sammie Louise Chaffin, Celina; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two special friends, Sue and Casandra.
