Wilma H. Dyas
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma H. Dyas, 79, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001, from the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA. Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery in Gainesville with Little & Davenport Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dyas died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife.

Born June 19, 1921, in Clermont, GA, she was the daughter of the late Newt and Ada (Gilstrap) Hulsey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everitt Dyas; and a step-daughter, Kathy Scott.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Joann Dorsey, Lakeland, FL; a son-in-law, Ted Scott, Denver, CO; a step-daughter and her husband, Susan and Clayton Miller, Inver Grove Heights, MN; three grandchildren, Darla Bernath, Spartenburg, SC, Cindy Hendler, Lawrenceville, SC, and Jongee Arnold, Livingston; and five great grandchildren.

Mildred Edith Dalton
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Edith Dalton, 90, of Hermitage, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2001, from the chapel of Hermitage Funeral Home with Dr. Garry Speich officiating. Burial was in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Hermitage Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dalton died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Manor Retirement Home in Hermitage. She was a member and very active in the work of the Methodist Church.

Born November 24, 1910, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Wirt and Florence (Qualls) Eubank. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Dalton; two sisters, Hettie Gillentine and Delia Phillips; and four brothers, Herman Eubank, Roy Eubank, Walter Eubank, and Hershel Eubank.

Survivors include two sons, G. Ronald Dalton, Gainesville, FL, and Roger K. Dalton, Flatwoods, KY; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends.

Katy (Bilbrey) Kirby
Funeral services for Mrs. Katy (Bilbrey) Kirby, 99, of Livingston, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. James Hunter officiating. Burial was in the Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Kirby died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Born March 30, 1902, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sol and Mary Susie (Robbins) Bilbrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Kirby; a daughter, Faye Pruett; two sons, Wilbur Lewis Kirby and Grady Paul Kirby; four brothers; two sisters; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Kirby, Livingston, Glenn Kirby, Dickson, and Jack Kirby, Allons; three daughters, Elizabeth Cobble, Anderson, IN, Louise Johnson, Lake Wales, FL, and Billie Masters, Livingston; four brothers, Atwell Bilbrey, Livingston, Raymond Bilbrey, Cookeville, Roy Bilbrey, Allons, and Rue Bilbrey, Livingston; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Terry Masters, Bob Masters, David Kirby, Mark Cobble, Andy Ashe, Robert Kirby Jr., Chris Kirby, Joe Kirby, and Steve Cobble. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Willie Hugh Bilbrey, Frank Pruett, Leland Bilbrey, Glen Masters, Greg Whited, Randall Bilbrey, and Harold Bilbrey.

Betty Lou Hodges
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Lou Hodges, 76, of Manchester, will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 6, 2001, from the First United Methodist Church in Manchester. Burial will be in Good Hope cemetery in Overton County, with Coffee County Funeral Chapel in charge of the funeral arrangements and Speck Funeral Home in charge of the burial arrangements.

Mrs. Hodges died Monday, June 4, 2001.

She was born November 1, 1924, in Newtonia, MO.

Survivors include her husband, Arlice Houston Hodges, Manchester; two sons, Larry Houston Hodges, Gallatin, and Paul Liles Hodges, Manchester; a daughter, Nancy Lynn Blair, Soddy; two sisters, Pauline I. Nutz, St. Louis, MO, and Julia Ann Brower, Midland, TX; four grandchildren, Heather Lynn Blair, Woodstock, GA, Hugh C. Blair V, Soddy, David Houston Hodges, Cookeville, and Michael Joseph Hodges, Gallatin; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul R. May
Funeral services for Mr. Paul R. May, 63, of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, from the chapel of Needham-Storey-Whampner Funeral Home in Marion, IN, with Rev. Howard May officiating. Burial was in the Grant Memorial cemetery in Marion, with Needham-Storey-Whampner Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. May died Monday, June 4, 2001, at his home in the Willow Grove Community. He worked several years in the eastern United States, then settled in Marion in the 1960's and retired from General Motors in 1990. He and his wife moved to Allons in 1993. He served with the Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. The Honor Guard presented Mrs. May with the American Flag in recognition of Mr. Mays service to his country.

Born October 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Rev. Charles and Maggie (Chinn) May. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth May and Frances May; and a son, Paul R. May Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Jan May, Allons; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula Reisann and Mike Cox, Richmond, IN; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tim and Leslie May and Greg and Christy Walters, all of Marion, and Todd May, Richmond; two brothers, Rev. Howard May, Alabama, and Charles May, North Carolina; two sisters, Mabel Barker, North Carolina, and Laura Lee Griggs, Georgia; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were David Liddick, Mike Smith, Bob Tucker, Marcus Cannon, David Woodward, and Johnny Poling.

Lawrence "Whitt" Mansell
Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence 'Whitt' Mansell, 55, of the Spring Creek Community, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001, from the chapel of Rickman Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Loftis officiating. Burial was in the Barnes cemetery with Rickman Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Mansell died Monday, May 28, 2001, at his home. He was a truck driver.

Born December 22, 1945, in Putnam County, he was the son of Glennis (Bilbrey) Mansell of Cookeville and the late Littleton "Whitt" Mansell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Dillon.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Joey (Conner) Mansell, Spring Creek Community; two daughters, Angela Burton, Silver Point, and Sherry Gosnell, Rickman; a son, Terry Mansell, Cookeville, three sisters, Gladys Andrews, Livingston, Rose Thompson, Baxter, and Mary Mayberry, Cookeville; a brother, Ray Mansell, Cookeville; and a grandson, Nicholas Gosnell, Rickman.

Pallbearers were Richard Dillon, Terry Ray Dillon, Jerry Melton, Donnie Lynn, Ray Mansell, Delton Robbins, Cascy Conner, and Kelly Lynn.

Mary Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jones, 93, of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Raymond Phillips officiating. Burial was in the Hanging Limb cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs.

Jones died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Born June 22, 1907, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sevier Burr and Alice Maude Bell (Collins) Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Flem Jones; two sons, Tony Jones and Boyd Jones; three sisters, Rosetta McCowan, Dolly Youngblood, and Martha Miller; and six brothers, George Phillips, Robert Phillips, Willie Phillips, Jasper Phillips, Daniel Phillips, and Albert Phillips.

Survivors include three daughters, Lucille Stephens and Linda Hodge, both of Monterey, and Reba Webber, Witcha Falls, TX; five sons, Frazier Jones, Paul Jones, Carl Jones, Shirley Jones, and Frank Jones, all of Monterey; a sister, Sarah Norrod, Monterey; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.

Vernon Farley Harville
Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Farley Harville, 74, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with James Overholt officiating. Burial was in the Campground cemetery in Overton County with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Harville died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired roofer, having worked with Cookeville Sheet Metal and Roofing.

Born February 14, 1927, in Baxter, he was the son of the late Herman Harville and Etta (Bryant) Harville Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Vaughn; and a brother, Cordell Harville.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Warren) Harville, Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma Polson and Ralph Wilmoth, Cookeville, and Barbara and Joe Fisher, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Lora Harville, Cookeville; a sister, Oneida Garrett, Cookeville; 10 grandchildren, Mickey Thompson, Kassie Polson, Crystal Polson, Jamie Heiss, Tiffany Harville, D.J. Harville, Debbie Roberts, Pat Fisher, Lisa Fisher, Jennifer Fisher; seven great grandchildren, three local, Emily Polson, Olivia Thompson, and Carrie Thompson; a host of nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Kenneth and Alta Morgan, Cookeville.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Robinson, Chad Heiss, Jackie Lee, Albert Thompson, Danny Garrett, and Willard Vaughn Jr.

Frakk "Scratch" Harden
Funeral services for Mr. Frank 'Scratch' Harden, 61, of Tipton, IN, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Porter Funeral Home in Tipton, IN, with Pastor Carl Wright officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the American Legion. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Harden died Sunday, June 21, 2001, at his home. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1590 and the Church of Christ. He retired from Townsend Tree Service in 1991 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1966 to 1968.

Born July 20, 1939, in Celina, he was the son of Frank and Adah Lee (Wilburn) Harden. He was preceded in death by one son.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Roadruck, Tipton, IN; two sons, Randy Harden, Tipton, IN, and Tony Harden, Cookeville; a daughter, Aubrey Leigh Roadruck, Tipton, IN; two step-children, Nita Everling, Windfall, IN, and David Roadruck, Tipton, IN; a sister, Shirleen Holman, Livingston; and six grandchildren.

CLARA ANN BILBREY
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Ann Bilbrey, 57, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Nelson cemetery with Bro. Cletis Beason and Bro. Craig Green officiating.

Mrs. Bilbrey died Thursday, Dec. 5 at her home. She was a garment factory worker and of the Church of God faith.

Born October 10, 1945, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Gorden and Clara Jane (Garrett) Beason. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William Beason, Ray Beason, and Kermit Beason.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Amy Harvey of the Willow Grove Community and Jerry and Tosha (Smith) Beason of Livingston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Harvey and Johnny Hill of Livingston and Tina and Jean Pierre Joubert of France; five step-children, Larry Bilbrey and John Bilbrey, both of Livingston, Cindy Bilbrey and Lorrie Harris, both of Rickman, and Sherry Warren of Nashville; two brothers, Leonard Beason and John Beason, both of Monroe; five sisters, Linda Dishman and Faye Taylor, both of Indiana, Liz Reeder of Cookeville, and Brenda Garrett and Janie Long, both of Livingston; three grandchildren, Skyler Beason, Destiny Beason, and Donovan Harvey; and a special friend, Sharon Patterson.

JOHN CURTIS COPE
Funeral services for Mr. John Curtis Cope, 79, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, from Byrdstown First Baptist Church. Burial was in Story cemetery with Bro. Charles Gibbs and Bro. Henry Colbert officiating. Brown Funeral Chapel of Byrdstown was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cope died Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and factory worker and worked in house construction. He was a deacon of Byrdstown First Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Born January 29, 1923, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late John C. and Hannah (Riley) Cope. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a siser, Virgie (Cope) Rich; and five brothers, Garfield Cope, Leo Cope, Earnest Cope, Lloyd Cope, and Bill Cope.

Survivors include his wife, Vannie (Huddleston) Cope of Byrdstown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Milton Anderson of Nashville, Sharon and Gerald Scott of Oak Ridge, and Karen and Rick Jones of Cookeville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Doyle Cope of Byrdstown and David and Mary Faye Cope of Pall Mall; six grandchildren, Amanda Anderson, Brandon Jones, David Jones, Kelly Scott, Kayce Scott, and Dustin Scott; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Brandon Jones, David Jones, Dustin Scott, Curtis Paul Cope, Stacy Evans, and Chris Evans.

CHARLENE RUTH (VANCE) HURST
Funeral services for Mrs. Charlene Ruth (Vance) Hurst, 85, of Jamestown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, from the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home in Jamestown. Burial was in Taylor Place cemetery with Bro. Tommy Duncan and Bro. Leonard Brown officiating.

Mrs. Hurst died Thursday, Dec. 5 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker.

Born May 15, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Cooper) Vance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Hurst; two sons, Kenneth Hurst and Roy Hurst; a daughter, Sadie Hurst; a step-son, Floyd Hurst; a step-daughter, Betty Jean Privet; a son-in-law, Johnny Winningham; two brothers, Kirklan Vance and Carl Vance; a step-brother, Lewis Vance; and a step-sister, Vallie Vance.

Survivors include eight daughters and four sons-in-law, Mary Lou (Hurst) and L.D. Franklin of Livingston; Shirley Hurst, Peggy and Bob Trowbridge, Nancy Winningham, and Moody Hurst, all of Jamestown, Judy Winningham of Indianapolis, IN, and Pat (Hurst) and Jim Harrigan and Vicky (Hurst) and Mark Hurst, all of Los Angeles, CA; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Marty Hurst of Jamestown and Jack and Vangie Hurst and Luke Hurst, all of Los Angeles; a brother, Charles Casper Vance of Rockwood; a sister, Virginia Langley of Harriman; 25 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Von Crabtree, Ronald Hurst, Tommy Hood, Jim Hood, Ronnie Threet, and Joe Bertram. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Linda Melton, Paul Melton, Bernard King, Michelle Stockton, Mark Livingston, Gene Hull, Rodney Smith, Johnny Boles, Nate Copley, Turk Baz, Jo Hood, Tim Richardson, L.D. Franklin, and Jerry Brown.

CHARLES FRED KRANTZ
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Fred Krantz, 89, of the Dry Hollow Community, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home. Burial was in Qualls cemetery in the Dry Hollow Community with Gary Farris and Mike White officiating.

Mr. Krantz died Thursday, Dec. 12 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January, 12, 1913, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Hardy and Florence (Brown) Krantz.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Krantz of the Dry Hollow Community; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Wanda Krantz and Tony and Angie Krantz, all of the Dry Hollow Community; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Krantz and Joanna and Hugh Livingston, all of the Dry Hollow Community, and Vivian and Roscoe Brown of Tippcity, OH; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Mr. Krantz' grandchildren served as pallbearers.
