Vesta Buna Gunnels
Funeral services for Mrs. Vesta Buna Gunnels, 85, of Allons, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 29, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Livingston Funeral Home of Livingston in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Gunnels, a retired factory worker, died Saturday, February 26, 2000, at her home.

Born July 26, 1914, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Ava Parrott Vann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gunnels; a sister, Ethel Shores; and two grandchildren, Billy Edwin Gunnels, and Brian Scott Smith. She was a member of The Allons Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Faye Smith, Allons, and Betty Jo Marriott, Anderson, IN; a son, Billy Joe Gunnels, Anderson, IN; two sisters, Obeth Pack, and Beatrice Hoskins, both of Plymouth, MI; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Teddy Gunnels, Howard Taylor, Michael Smith, Gerald L. Clark, Ronald L. Savage, and Terry L. Marriott.

Sara Louise (Lou) Netherton
Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Louise "Lou" Netherton, 69, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Joe Green and Bro. Eugene Schmid officiating. Burial was in Double Springs cemetery with Dyer Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Netherton, retired from the City of Cookeville, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at her home in Cookeville.

Born March 18, 1930, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Malissia (Neal) Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Netherton; two sisters, Beadie Opal Ledbetter and Katherine Ledbetter; and three brothers, Aaron Ledbetter, Luther Lee Ledbetter, and Perry Ledbetter.

She was affiliated with First Baptist Church in Cookeville, as well as Midway Christian Church in Overton County.

She was Junior Vice-President of the Ladies Auxillary V.F.W. Post 5062 in Livingston.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Louise Netherton, Antioch; four brothers and sisters-in-law, McCoy and Reba Ledbetter, Thomas and Lida Ledbetter, all of Sterling Heights, MI, Robert Frank and Sandy Ledbetter, Livingston, and Johnny and Earlene Ledbetter, Crossville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Reba and Gene Koontz, Asheville, NC, Ruth and Charles Roberson Jr., Rickman, Flossia and Rastus Bowman, Rickman, and Betty and Larry Walker, Kingston; and a special friend, J.B. Hensley, Livingston.

Pallbearers were McCoy Ledbetter, Thomas Ledbetter, Robert Frank Ledbetter, Reba Koontz, Ruth Roberson, Flossia Bowman, and Betty Walker.

Honorary pallbearers were Reba Ledbetter, Lida Ledbetter, Sandy Ledbetter, Earlene Ledbetter, Gene Koontz, Charles Roberson Jr., Rastus Bowman, and Larry Walker.

Oren W. Ledbetter
Funeral services for Mr. Oren W. Ledbetter, 74, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Cross and Rev. Greg Watson officiating. Burial was in Smyrna cemetery in Pickett County with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ledbetter, a pastor, died Monday, February 28, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born June 30, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William Chester and Verna (Allred) Ledbetter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah (Walker) Ledbetter.

He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pickett County.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Taylor, Monroe; two brothers, Glen H. Ledbetter, Monroe, and Gentry Ledbetter, Grand Rapids, MI; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Carl Barlow, Ronald Ledbetter, Keith Ledbetter, Ray Jordan, Doyle Walker, and Palmer Abbott.

Linda Carol Hammock
Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Carol Hammock, 57, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Perry Clayton officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hammock died Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and of the Methodist faith.

Born January 24, 1944, in Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Monte and Eula Mae (Wallace) Daniels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny B. Hammock; a son, Steve Buell, and two sisters, Rosalee Ray and Ruth Ann Winngate.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Faye Buell, Monroe; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gaye and Jackie Frogge and Nancy Buell, all of Livingston; three brothers, Donnie Daniels and Charles Daniels, both of Allons, and John Daniels, Smith Grove, KY; three sisters, Martha Booher, Jane Melton, and Frances Raines, all of Allons; and three grandchildren, Jeremy Pennington, Jennifer Buell, and Tricinda Buell.

Pallbearers were David Raines, Glenn Raines, Mike Mayes, Frankie Ray, Matthew Melton, and Shane Booher.

Bessie Harris
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Harris, 76, of the Highland Mountain Community, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Harris and Rev. Richard Harris officiating. Burial was in Oakley cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Harris died Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory worker and attended Highland Freewill Baptist and Harris Chapel Freewill Baptist churches.

Born October 11, 1925, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Newton and Aquilla (Brown) Smith.

Survivors include her husband, M.J. Harris, Highland Mountain Community; four nephews, Donald Fred Smith, Billy Mac Smith, and Eugene Smith, all of Springfield, and George Richard Smith, Gallatin; and five nieces, Eva Oakley and Delta Gray Ferrell, both of Livingston; Emogene Bass and Maxine Hester, both of Springfield, and Ruby Kaye Kelly, Knoxville.

James Luther Shea
Funeral services for Mr. James Luther "Jim" Shea, 76, of Rickman, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Masters officiating. Burial was in Gooch cemetery in Kings Mt., KY, with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Shea died Monday, Nov. 12 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired janitor from A.H. Roberts Elementary School and a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Born January 31, 1925, in Lincoln County, KY, he was the son of the late George and Laura (Phillips) Shea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Shea; two brothers, Albert Shea and Tom Shea; and three sisters, Blanch, Evelyn, and Ula.

Survivors include his wife, Clema (Davis) Shea, Rickman, a daughter, Jeannie Coffman, Rickman; a stepson, Dallas Hayes, Cookeville; a brother, George Shea, Waynesburg, KY; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends from Kentucky.

Donna J. Leatherbery
Funeral services for Miss Donna J. Leatherbery, 71, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Speck officiating. Burial was in Copeland cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Leatherbery died Sunday, Nov. 11 in Tampa, FL. She was a retired registered nurse and of the Methodist faith.

Born February 14, 1930, in Branch County, MI, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Letha (Flanders) Leatherbery.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Gary Johnson, Doug Johnson, Scott Leatherbery, James Huddleston, Victor Odus Speck, and David Copeland.

Mona McCowan
Funeral services for Mrs. Mona McCowan, 90, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Bobby Roberts and Rev. Mike Kirby officiating. Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. McCowan died Monday, Nov. 19 at Standing Stone Health Care and Rehabilitation in Monterey. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Born October 29, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Qualls) Ashburn.

Survivors include her husband, Haskell McCowan, Monterey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd and Johnnie McCowan and Loyd and Elease McCowan, all of Monterey; two grandchildren and spouses, Tammy and Johnny Bowman and Myron and Jessica McCowan; and three great grandchildren, Deana, Justin, and Brittney.

Geneva Martin
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Martin, 82, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, from the chapel of Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home with ministers Ricky Cross and Randy Tompkins officiating. Burial was in Vann's Branch cemetery with Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Martin died Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a bookkeeper at M&M Motors, and a member of the Lovelady Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

Born September 25, 1919, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Waymon and Mary Ann (Gillentine) Storie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walton Martin.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Diane Martin, Byrdstown; a daughter and a son-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Davidson, Cookeville; a brother, Leonard Storie, Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren, Leigh Ann West and Jeff Huddleston, both of Cookeville, and Carter Martin and Craig Martin, both of Byrdstown; and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Charlie Storie, Jeff Davidson, Craig Martin, Carter Martin, Randy Baylor, and Larry Storie.

Willie Wade (Talley) Dickerson
Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Wade (Talley) Dickerson, 67, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating. Burial was in Holly Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dickerson, a factory worker, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 10, 1932, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Cora Edith (Raines) Talley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dale Rogers; a brother, Paul Talley; and a grandchild, Becky Rogers.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Dickerson, Hilham; two sons, Ricky Dickerson, Hilham, and Roy Allen Rogers, Rogersville; a daughter, Debbie Dickerson, Hilham; four sisters, Burmah Garrett, Josephine Hollars, Marie Ayers, all of Hilham, and Joann Ethridge, Oliver Springs; two grandchildren, Jared Dickerson and Allen Rogers; a great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mick Clark, Mikie Olgetree, Randy Ogletree, Butchy Garrett, Blane Garrett, and Rondle Hollars.

William H. "Butch" Wilson
Funeral services for Mr. William H. "Butch" Wilson, 42, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Boles officiating. Burial was in Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wilson, a factory worker, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born March 2, 1957, in Akron, OH, he was the son of John. J. and Cynthia Katherine (Boles) Wilson.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two daughters, Tabatha McBroom and Tiffany Wilson, both of Cookeville; three brothers, Ronald G. Wilson, Navarre, FL, Stephen R. Wilson and Johnny Wayne Wilson, both of Cookeville; three sisters, Linda Richards, Patricia Kay Daniels, both of Cookeville, and Pamela R. Boles, Hilham; and one granddaughter, Cydney McBroom, Cookeville.

Floyd Dibnel Reed
Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Dibnel Reed, 78, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Comer McGuire officiating. Burial was in Zion Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Reed, a retired truck driver and farmer, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at his home.

Born June 27, 1921, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Commie and Bessie (Peek) Reed. He was a member of Zion Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mable (Stockton) Reed, Livingston; three daughters, Helen Sue Hunt, Baker, FL, Gail Arney, Livingston, and Linda Tudor, Old Hickory; a brother, Danny Lee Reed, Cookeville; three grandchildren, Michael Dodson, Lisa Melton, and Gretchen Willoughby; one great grandchild, Montana Dodson; and his former wife, Fannie Reed Smith, Rickman.
