Funeral services for Mr. Earl Howard Gray, 55, of Allons, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Gray died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was owner of Auberson & Gray Concrete Finishing Company, of the Catholic faith, and a member of the Moose Lodge, Elk Lodge, and Fraternal Order of Police.
Born April 27, 1946, in Vernon, KY, he was the son of Mashie (Kilman) Gray of Celina and the late Howard Gray.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include the mother of his children, Alice Tebbe, Tipton, IN; two sons, Robert Gray and Troy Gray, both of Tipton; a daughter, Rachele Hopkins, Tipton; four brothers, Donald Gray, Livingston, Reed Gray and Grady Gray, both of Allons, and Shirley Gray, Celina; four sisters, Wilma Wolf, Peru, IN, Catherine Kerr, Betty Sue Gray, and Marie Young, all of Celina; and four grandchildren, Tanner Gray, Keegan Gray, Blake Hopkins, and Allison Hopkins.
Dexter Almonrode
Funeral services for Miss Dexter Almonrode, 96, of Alpine, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Glenn Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Almonrode died Tuesday, May 21 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of Fredonia Methodist Church.
Born May 23, 1905, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Winston and Ella (Moredock) Almonrode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Pearl Conatser, Callie Barnes, Jewell Smith, and Maggie Bryant Almonrode; and five brothers, Walter Almonrode, Sherrod Almonrode, Lon Almonrode, Muncie Almonrode, and Herthel Almonrode. Survivors include her niece, Nedra Grimes, Alpine; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Roger Smith, Herman Crabtree, Gerald Collins, Jeff Collins, Leslie Pryor, and Larry Bailey.
Lester R.S. Johnson
Funeral services for Mr. Lester R.S. Johnson, 71, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, from Holly Springs Church of Christ with Bro. Marlon Winningham, Bro. Jerry Young, and Bro. Billy Burchett officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, June 4 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a factory worker, a farmer, and a member of Holly Springs Church of Christ. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Born November 3, 1930, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Clure and Maggie (Wilson) Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Geneva (Capps) Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene (Savage) Johnson, Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Barbara Johnson, LaFayette; four step-children, Sherry Copeland and Ricky Savage, both of Livingston, Ben Savage, Allons, and Mark Savage, Murfreesboro; two brothers, Riley and L.D. Johnson, both of Livingston; one grandchild; 12 step-grandchildren; one great grandchild; a step-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Oather Savage, Bruce Fletcher, Gruder Carmack, Larry Savage, Gary Johnson, Lonnie Copeland, Donovan Savage, and Jimmy Fletcher.
Mary Ellen Thompson

Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday, June 4 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a member of DuncanŐs Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Born November 24, 1955, in Overton County, she was the daughter of Winnie Dimple (Boatman) Thompson of Rickman and the late Willie Heron Thompson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Andrea Thompson, Cookeville; four brothers, Roy Gene Thompson, Raymond Thompson, and Ricky Thompson, all of Cookeville, and Vaden Thompson, Rickman; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Carlene Scott, Sue and Tommy Phillips, and Janice Thompson, all of Cookeville.

Pauline Dennis Sells

Mrs. Sells died Friday, June 7 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife, a charter member of Overton County Historical Society, and a member of Livingston First Baptist Church.
Born October 10, 1909, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Palo and Nannie (Cole) Dennis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sells; and a son, Wayne Sells.
Survivors include a son, Harold Ray Sells, Huntsville, AL; a daughter, Frances Holt, Livingston; seven grandchildren, Yvonne Davidson, Paula (Holt) Kennedy, Ray Sells, James Sells, David Eilender, Greg Eilender, and Curt Eilender; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Mary Allen Scott
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Allen Scott, 65, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Mrs. Scott died Tuesday, June 4 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a housewife and attended Post Oak Shade Freewill Baptist Church in Putnam County.
Born February 4, 1937, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Mable (Knight) Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edgar Lushion Scott Jr.; two brothers, George Allen and Earl Allen; and a sister, Bonnie Allen.
Survivors include her husband, Lushion Scott, Gainesboro; two sons, Joe C. Scott, Hilham, and Billy D. Scott, Cookeville; three daughters, Glenda Christian, Gainesboro, and Teresa M. Scott and Deborah A. Clella Phipps

Mrs. Phipps died Wednesday, June 5 at Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She was a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church.
Born April 13, 1925, in Fentress County, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Liza (Key) Todd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Clayton Phipps, and two sons, Ronald Phipps and Benton Phipps.
Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Hall and Cathlene Dickerson, both of Livingston, Faye Hammonds, Cookeville, Patsy Matti, Midwest City, OK, and Connie Smith, San Antonio, TX; four sons, Junior C. Phipps, Jerry Phipps, Michael Phipps, and Terry Phipps, all of Cookeville; 18 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Victor Ray Padgett
Funeral services for Mr. Victor Ray Padgett, 77, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, from Bethsaida Christian Church with Clayton Padgett and Kelly Hull officiating. Burial was in Sylvester Robbins cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Padgett died Sunday, May 26 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and a member of Bethsaida Christian Church.
Born July 25, 1924, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Will and Ollie (McDonald) Padgett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Vicky Padgett; three sisters, Hallie Brown, Vechel McDonald, and Vallie Robbins; and three brothers, Clifford Padgett, Wood Padgett, and Claude Padgett.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline (Holt) Padgett, Monroe; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Jerry Flowers, Linda and Mickey Massey, and Sandy and Lonnie Conner, all of Monroe, and Jean and Edward Walker, Livingston; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet Padgett, Livingston, Denny and Debbie Padgett, Cookeville, and Doug Padgett, Monroe; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; special friend, Ulyses Rodriguez, Nashville; and many more relatives and friends. Vesta Lee Nolen
Funeral services for Mrs. Vesta Lee Nolen, 84, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Nolen died Monday, June 3 at her home. She was a retired seamstress at a garment factory.
Born April 16, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Mae (Bilbrey) Nolen.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Nancy Nolen, Monroe; two brothers, Haskell Nolen, Rickman, and Billy Nolen, Livingston; six sisters, Hazel Whitaker, Betty Copeland, and Jean Reagan, all of Cookeville, Opal Walker and Katie Vaughn, both of Livingston, and Bertie Smith, Rickman; a grandson and his wife, Tim and Cindy Nolen, Monroe; and two great grandchildren, Tate Nolen and Tanner Nolen.
Pallbearers were Frankie Nolen, Josh Nolen, Joey Nolen, Mark Reagan, Ronnie Smith, and Johnnie Vaughn.
John H. Anderson
Memorial services for Mr. John H. Anderson, 51, of Gainesboro, were conducted at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Rev. Chris Haynes officiating. No burial was held as the family chose cremation. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Anderson died Sunday, June 2 in Jackson County. He was an insurance agent for Anderson Insurance Agency, a real estate agent for Upper Cumberland Real Estate, and an announcer for WLIV Radio. He was a member of Gainesboro First United Methodist Church, and served as a Mason and a Shriner.
Born January 15, 1951, in Jackson County, he was the son of Rose Nelle (Sadler) Anderson of Gainesboro and the late Herbert Page "H.P." Anderson.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beth and Tommy Brown, Paige and Phil DeWispelare, and Katherine Leigh Anderson, all of Gainesboro; a brother, Dr. Garland Douglas Anderson, Galveston, TX; two sisters, Mary Sue Lee, Marietta, GA, and Helen Page Anderson, Gainesboro; three grandchildren, Colby Brown, Connor Brown, and Leighanne DeWispelare; a friend, Sherry Meadows, Celina; and a family friend, Ray Dennis, Gainesboro.
Cleo L. Gaw

Born April 21, 1914, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Palo and Katie Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fowler Gaw.
Survivors include three sons, Freeman Gaw and Fred Gaw, both of Rickman, and Ralph Gaw, Anderson, IN; three daughters, Clydean Wilson, Bradenton, FL, Betty Warden, Monterey, and Netta Rose, Rickman; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Charles J. Hill
Funeral services for Mr. Charles J. Mr. Hill died Sunday, June 9 at Chalet Village Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was retired from Associated Truck Lines, Fort Wayne, IN, where he had been a mechanic for 14 years. He was a member of North Adams Church of Christ in Decatur, and was a World War II Veteran with the U.S. Army.
Born July 12, 1916, in Decatur, he was the son of the late Charles T. Hill and Minnie Beatty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald Hill, Martin Hill, Raymond Hill, Richard Hill, and Kedron Hill; and three sisters, Mildred Stoneburner, Audrey Ballard, and Gyneth Myers.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David N. and Nancy Hill, Berne, IN, and Gary D. and Ronda Hill, Grantsville, UT; four daughters and three sons-in-law, June and Dan Thompson, Monroe, IN, Elaine Crankshaw, Searcy, AR, Patsy and Thomas Ray, Rickman, and Goldie Lee and Dennis Williams, Pangburn, AR; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Gilpatrick died Saturday, Dec. 8 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a seamtress, shirt factory worker, Woodman of the World Fraternity member, and a member of the Hilham Church of Christ.
Born January 11, 1912, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Permelia Hollars. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Elbert Gilpatrick; two sisters, Emmie Coffman and Sidie Hollars; and two brothers, Elmer Hollars and Lester Hollars.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Josephine Hollars, Hilham, and Wayne and Lechya Gilpatrick, Livingston; two grandchildren, Sherry McKee, Rainbow City, AL, and Kayla Gilpatrick, Livingston; and two great grandchildren, Brett McKee and Erika McKee.
