Funeral Services for Mrs. Susie Ann (Robbins) Swallows, 44, of Hilham, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16, from the Harris Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Farris and Bro. Roger Sisco officiating. Burial was in the Harris Chapel cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Swallows, a housewife, died Friday, July 14, at the Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born July 10, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Ornan and Judy Robbins, Rickman. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Garfield and Alta Robbins.
She was affiliated with the Harris Chapel Freewill Baptist Church of Overton County.
In addition to her parents, survivors include husband, Jerry E. Swallows, Hilham; daughter, Michelle Ann Nelson, Rickman; two sisters, Sherrie Hinson, Livingston and Tammy Smith, Rickman; one brother, Jeff Robbins, Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Brad Hinson, Noah Hinson, Josh Hinson, Ronnie Swallows, Freddie Swallows, and Jeremy Swallows.
Avon J.W. Carter
Funeral services for Mr. Avon J.W. Carter, better known as "Cam', 66, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Dr. David Moore officiating. Burial was in Bethel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Carter, a highway construction worker, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at his home.
Born December 4, 1933, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Eulis and Johnnie Bilbrey Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mayhew Carter, and Paul Carter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Clarice Young Carter, Livingston; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Owen C. "Red' and Pauline Carter, and Eulis M. Jr. and Betty Carter; a sister, Naomi Poll, Gardner, IL; a Godson, Andrew Looper; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Addison Fletcher, Odus Johnson, Doug Carter, Bill Fletcher, Kevin Carter, and Andy Looper.
Kenneth F. Buchanan
Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth F. Buchanan, 65, of Rickman, were conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2000, from the chapel of Rickman Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Monday officiating. Burial was in Dodson Chapel cemetery with Rickman Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Buchanan, a veteran of the U.S. Army, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 16, 1934, in Battle Creek, MI, he was the son of the late Elmer K, and Tressa L. (Wade) Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Micheal Lee Buchanan. He was a member of Rickman First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Griggs Buchanan, Rickman; a son, Barry Allen Buchanan, Battle Creek, MI; two daughters, Donna Jean Buchanan, Battle Creek, MI, and Cheryl Kay Buchanan, Orlando, FL; a brother, Dennis E. Buchanan, Battle Creek, MI; a grandson, Kenneth James Buchanan, Battle Creek, MI; and a granddaughter, Katelyn Sara Buchanan, Battle Creek, MI. Pallbearers were Clarence Spicer, Danny Phillips, Al Gaumont, Don Gaumont, Terry Dow Williams, and Charlie Spicer.
Jerry Edward Cozine
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Edward Cozine, 44, of Livingston, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2000, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Pastor Bobby Davis officiating. Burial was in Netherland cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Cozine, a construction worker, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage.
Born February 4, 1956, in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of William Truman Cozine and Nola B. Cozine, both of Livingston. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Clark Cozine. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two brothers, Ricky Cozine, North Carolina, and Fred Cozine, Rickman; a sister, Deborah Cozine, Livingston; and a host of nieces and nephews. victor bernard coomes Mr. Victor Bernard Coomes, 78, of Allons, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for cremation.
Mr. Coomes, a national and international construction superintendent, was born November 3, 1921, in Louisville, KY. He was the son of the late Robert Anthony and Louise Catherine (Gohmann) Coomes. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII, a member of the VFW and American Legion in Livingston and Riverside Chapter #260 in Baldwinsville, NY, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by an extended family.
Ruby D. Watkins

Born November 2, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Escue and Argie (Matthews) Cantrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Watkins; a brother, Claude "Clydie" Cantrell; a sister, Vada Davis; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
She was a member of Allons Church of Christ.
Survivors include six sons, Fred Watkins, Earl Watkins, Bill Watkins, Jack Watkins, all of Allons, Paul Watkins, Murfreesboro, and Rick Watkins, Livingston; six daughters, Mary Joe Dailey, Brenda Dailey, both of Indianapolis, IN, Betty Sells, Baxter, Johnnie Holman, Nashville, Janie Smith, Murfreesboro, and Patricia Gore, Livingston; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Born August 10, 1928, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Spurrier) Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Carr; and a brother, Dolan Barnes.
She was a member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Carlos Carr, Rickman, and David Carr, Celina; seven daughters, Sherrill Lewis, Martha Watson, Christina Carr, all of Rickman, Jeanette Hoskins, Oak Dale, Elizabeth Anderson, Portland, Esther Maynord, Allons, and Belinda Bowman, Nashville; two brothers, William Barnes, Rickman, and John Allen Barnes, Springfield, MO; seven sisters, Norma Jean Huddleston, Wanda Krack, both of Livingston, Frances Crabtree, New York, Geneviene Rice, Westmoreland, Sue Moss, Alabama, Joyce Fields, Kentucky, and Sharon Sparks, Kingsport; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Born September 21, 1915, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Molly (Dennis) Sells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sims. She was a member of Free Communion Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Darius and Susan Sims, Monroe; a sister, Ruby Dennis, Akron, OH; six grandchildren, Christy Harris, Johnny Harris, Stevie Sims, Tammy Sims, Charles Sims, and Rebekah Sims; three great grandchildren, Ridge Harris, River Harris, and Madisyn Sims; and several nieces and nephews.

Born May, 29, 1941, in Overton County, she was the daughter of Bueford Rector and the late Virgie May (Phillips) Rector.
She was affiliated with East Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Indiana.
Survivors include her husband, E. Morris, Tipton, IN; two daughters, Donna R. Key, Tipton, IN, and Tonja R. Carter, Goldsmith, IN; a son, Jim E. Morris, Frankfort, IN; her father, Bueford Rector, Hilham; and four grandchildren.
Gerald Reels

Mr. Reels, a owner/operator of Gunnels Florist in Cookeville, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at his home.
Born November 17, 1943, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lester F. and Lola B. Carter Reels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Norris; and four brothers, L.B. Reels, David Reels, Bill Reels, and Tony Reels.
He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Also, he was a member of Cookeville Jaycees, the Tennessee Jaycees Volunteer Corps., Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266, a 32nd Degree Shriner, and a member of Al Menah Temple.
Survivors include his wife; Bobbie Gunnels Reels, Cookeville; a daughter, Rosemary Qualls, Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Susan Reels, Cookeville; a granddaughter, Jessica Qualls, Cookeville; and three sisters, Pauline Wilson, Livingston, Jane Wilmoth, Cookeville, and Betty Jean Nelson, Ft. Myers, FL.
Pallbearers were Ken Brown, Lannie Dunn, Danny Brooks, Donnie Westbrooks, Harold Stone, Bill Legge, Bobby Burroughs, Carl Tranthum, Buck Manis, and Terry Randolph. Honorary pallbearers were his golfing buddies.
Bob Roberts
Funeral services for Mr. Bobby "Bob" Glenn Roberts, 68, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, April 10, 2000, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Hill officiating. Entombment was at Crest Lawn Mausoleum with Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Roberts died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at his home in Cookeville.
He was a retired Sr. Master Sgt. from the U.S. Air Force with 24 years of service in Korea and Vietnam. He was also a retired accountant from Pacesetters and Cedar Hill Retirement Center.
Born April 30, 1931, in Livingston, he was the son of the late Herman and Agnes Wilburn Roberts. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force Sergeants Association and active with the Putnam County Republican Party.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dextre Roberts, Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maryse and Charlie Neal, Knoxville, Karen and Randy Prater, Cookeville; one sister, Jane Bilbrey, Livingston; and three grandchildren, Robert Neal, Knoxville, and Rebecca Prater and Nicholas Prater, both of Cookeville.
Pallbearers were members of the VFW Honor Guard.
Velma Edith Buck

Mrs. Buck, a co-owner/operator in merchandising, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at NHC Healthcare Center.
She was born April 3, 1903, in Overton County.
She was a member of Washington Ave. Baptist Church in Cookeville.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Nancy R. Robertson, Cookeville; a brother, Vance Little, Livingston; two grandsons, David Buck, Kentucky, and Jeff Buck, Florida; and three granddaughters, Janet Heilman, Kentucky, Shelia Bates, Nashville, and Sue Anne Jones, Fairview.
