Robert Odell Jolley
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Odell Jolley, 93, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with David Moore officiating. Burial was in Hatcher Hall cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Jolley, a retired farmer, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born May 9, 1906, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Edward Butler and Gertrude (Elder) Jolley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie M. Jolley; a daughter, Joy Bilbrey; two sisters, Pauline Huddleston, and Maggie Jolley; and six brothers, Mack Alan Jolley, Earl Jolley, Hall Jolley, Ed Jolley, Jack Jolley, and Woodrow Jolley.

He was a member of the Hatcher Hall Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Taylor, and Frances Sells, both of Monroe; four sons, Robert Jolley, Troy Jolley, Gilbert Jolley, all of Monroe, and Todd Jolley, Livingston; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Troy Jolley, Tim Jolley, Joe Jolley, Steve Jolley, Gilbert Jolley Jr., and Brandon Walker.

Vurlla Mae Harvey
Funeral services for Mrs. Vurlla Mae Harvey, 74, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Speck Funeral Home of Livingston in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Harvey, a housewife, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Born June 25, 1925, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Stella Vann Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Curtis Harvey.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Benny Harvey, and Donnie Harvey, both of Monroe; a daughter, Barbara Garrett, Livingston; a brother, Raymond Taylor, Cookeville; six sisters, Pearl Taylor, Crossville, Murl Conner, Marianna, AR, Erma Reagan, Jeffersonville, IN, Corine Kennedy, Anderson, IN, Leora Reagan, Chesterfield, IN, and Ruby Dean Smith, Monroe; six grandchildren, David Garrett, and Dana Garrett, both of Livingston, Kenny Harvey, Monica Harvey, and Casey Harvey, all of Monroe, and Nickey Harvey, Cookeville; and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Harvey and Sarah Harvey, both of Monroe.

Patricia E. (Hill) Key
Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia E. (Hill) Key, 51, of Monroe, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in St. John cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Key, a nursing assistant, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 17, 1949, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Effie (Reeder) Hill.

She was a member of the Holly Springs Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Board of Rights at Pacesetters.

Survivors include her husband, Myrl Key, Monroe; a daughter, Jennifer Thompson, Cookeville; two sons, Mark Key, Rickman, and Michael Key, Hilham; a Goddaughter, April Lynn Harris, Allons; two brothers, Ronnie Hill and Bill Hill, both of Indianapolis, IN; a aunt, Dell Reeder Winborn; several nieces and nephews; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Melvin Spencer, Arlis Thompson, James B. Hunter, Mark Key, James McAlpin, Mark Greenwood, Ronald Harris, Dawayne Hill, and Chris Hill.

Inis Cooper
Funeral services for Ms. Inis Cooper, 80, of Troy, MO, and formerly of Overton County were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2000 from the chapel of Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy, MO, with Rev. Robert Warren officiating. Burial was in Old Alexandria cemetery in Old Alexandria, MO.

Ms. Cooper, a homemaker and a retired General Motors employee for 16 years, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Wentzville, MO.

Born April 12, 1920, in Kings Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Cooper and Elsie Cooper King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Byrd King; a brother, Louie Cooper; two sisters, Dollie Cooper, and Ermine Cooper.

Survivors include two sisters, Eva Harris, Rickman and Maggie Smith, Troy, MO; a brother, Earnest King of Louisiana, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Ivah E. Martin
Funeral services for Mr. Ivah E. Martin, 83, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Fox officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Cooke Cemetary with Baxter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Martin, a former truck driver and retired custodian from Baxter High School, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Standing Stone Health Care Center.

Born August 20, 1916, in Boma, TN, he was the son of the late William Dalton and Renda Jane (Stewart) Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray Veers; three brothers, Verble Martin, Otto Martin, and W.D. Martin; and three sisters, Zella Poston, Odis Matheney, and Ocly Copeland. He was a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ.

He was also a veteran, serving in the army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia (Chaffin) Martin; two daughters, Sandi Koger and Cathy Grasty, both of Cookeville; a son, Ronald Terry Martin, Livingston; two sisters, Cora Gralowski, Cookeville, and Lillian Barks, Kentucky; and two brothers-in-law, Robert A. Chaffin Jr. and Lin B. Chaffin, both of Cookeville; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Warren H. Walker
Funeral services for Mr. Warren H. Walker, 78, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home in Byrdstown with Rick Cross officiating. Burial was in the Williams Chapel cemetery with Crestlawn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Walker, a retired factory worker, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Vanderbilt Hospital. Born May 1, 1921, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Capp and Oma (Zachary) Walker.

He was a member of the Wolf River Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was also in the Army in World War II where he received the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Silver Star.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Walker, Byrdstown; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Ted and Shirley Webb, Rickman; two step-daughters and a step son-in-law, Joyce Absher, Byrdstown, and Sherry and Archie Clark, Baxter; a brother, Jack Walker, Byrdstown; a sister, Maxine Walker, Byrdstown; eight step-grandchildren, and 14 step-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Dowdy, Jimmy Smith, Jerry McCoy, Kelly Absher, Rick Adkins, and Chad Webb. Honorary pallbearers were Polk Zachary, J.B. Crawford, Hack Beaty, and Dolphus Winningham.

Virginia M. Nevans
Memorial services for Mrs. Virginia M. Nevans, 87, of Dayton, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Steve Brown officiating. Vaughn Funeral Home of Spring City was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Nevans died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at her home.

Born in Tupelo, MS, she was the daughter of the late Daniel William and Eva Myrtle (Throneberry) Meredith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. H.B. Nevans; and a brother, D.W. Meredith.

She was a member of the Dayton Church of Christ, Dayton Garden Club, and the Dayton Readers Club. In Livingston, she was a member of the Eastern Star, helped establish the Rainbow Girls, and was a member of the Livingston Garden Club.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Diana Nevans, Dayton, and William Nevans, Ft. Meyers, FL; three grandsons, James Nevans, Dayton, John "Jay" Nevans, Knoxville, and Meredith Nevans, Ft. Meyers, FL.; and four great grandchildren, Theresa Nevans and Christopher Nevans, both of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Callie Nevans and Tigris Nevans, both of Dayton.

Wilburn Arnold Maynord
Funeral services for Mr. Wilburn Arnold Maynord, 78, of Monroe, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2001, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in the Stover cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Maynord died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was a farmer, a veteran, a member of the U. S. Army WWII, and a member of Free Communion Church of Christ.

Born August 31, 1922, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Brankley "B" and Lela (Cole) Maynord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Welman Maynord, Waymon Maynord, John Wilmoth Maynord, and Anthony Wilberson Maynord; and two sons-in-law, Johnny Garrett and Richard Stover.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice (Richardson) Maynord, Monroe; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Deborah Ellen Maynord, Cross Village, MI; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirlie Jean Stover and Charlie Daniels, Allons, Linda and Keith Vaughn and Sheena Garrett, all of Monroe; a sister, Maxine Richardson, Monroe; eight grandchildren, Teresa Sells, Rick Stover, Travis Stover, Ronnie Vaughn, Jerry Vaughn, Jamie Maynord, Deidra Garrett, and Jason Hammock; two step-grandchildren, Jonathon Daniels and Sabrina Yeiser; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tim Carner, Jimmy Little, Leo Little, Bulos Martin, Odis Mayberry, and Darius Sims.

Virgil Whitehead
Funeral services for Mr. Virgil Whitehead, 80, of Carthage, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001, from the chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home in Carthage with Bro. Bobby Peoples officiating. Burial was in the Smith County Memorial Gardens with Sanderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Whitehead died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Smith County Health Care Center. \

He was a retired farmer, a member of the Rockwood Benevolent Lodge #403, F&AM, and the Linwood Emmanuel Church of Christ in Wilson County.

Born December 18, 1920, in the Buffalo Valley Community of Putnam County, he was the son of the late Anthony and Levora (Bennett) Whitehead.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Sue (Christian) Whitehead, Carthage; a daughter, Dorothy Jean Lewis, Rockwood; a son, Alfred Lee Whitehead, Rockwood; three sisters, Katie Robinson, Lebanon, Emma Anderson, Silver Point, and Dean Chaffin, Pea Ridge; six grandchildren, Ann Woodard, Lebanon, Frank Brown and Louise Gibbs, both of Carthage, Willie Brown, Red Boiling Springs, Harrison Brown, Livingston, and Catherine Bingham, Turkey Creek Community; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.

Wilma Sells
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Sells, 60, of the Cravenstown Community, will be conducted at noon today, Wednesday, March 21, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Ovle Tinch and Bro. Billy Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Phillips cemetery in Hanging Limb with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Sells died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Sandy Missionary Baptist Church.

Born January 3, 1941, in Cravenstown, she was the daughter of the late Beve and Nancy (Hite) Tays.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar D. Sells, Cravenstown; three daughters, Dorothy Brown, Knoxville, Janet Crabtree, Cookeville, and Donna Abston, Crawford; six sons, Jim Cook, Steve Sells, and Scotty Sells, all of Cravenstown, Rick Cook, Vines Ridge, Bill Cook, Knoxville, and Dave Cook, Hanging Limb; four sisters, Carlene Sevier, Monroe, Udean Geesling, Hilham, Lana Cravens, Cravenstown, and Carolyn Maxfield, Willow Grove; two brothers, Beve Tays Jr., Alexander, IN, and Randall Tays, Cravenstown; 19 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Magdalen Paul
Funeral services for Mrs. Magdalen Paul, 82, of Alpine, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Nolan Cantrell officiating. Burial was in the Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Paul died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was a housewife and a member of the Oak Dale Baptist Church in Monroe.

Born September 24, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Alex Martin and Myrtle (Ruble) Stover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Paul, and a son, Glenn Paul.

Survivors include seven sons, Clifford Paul, Alpine, Jim Paul, Knoxville, Ray Paul, Tullahoma, Robert Paul, Allons, Tommy Paul, Murfreesboro, Johnny Paul, Cookeville, and Mark Paul, Celina; four daughters, Charlene Collins, Alpine, Shirley Paul, Cookeville, Carole Ayers, Wyoming, and Sheri Upton, Allons; three brothers, Charles Stover, Cookeville, Howard Stover, Atlanta, GA, and Hank Stover, Alpine; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were John Willis, Jeff Upton, Andy Paul, Eddie Thackston, Keith Paul, Shannon Milsap, and Jamie Mann.

Walter Handy
Funeral services for Mr. Walter Handy, 66, of the Bowlings Branch Community near Gordonsville, were conducted at 11 a.m.Wednesday, March 14, 2001, from the chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home in Carthage with Bro. Bobby Peoples officiating. Burial was in the Oakley cemetery near Rickman with Sanderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Handy died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Carthage General Hospital.

He was a farmer and retired mechanic of McKee Amoco in Gordonsville.

Born March 6, 1935, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Walter and Verlie (Harris) Handy.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Louise (Honeycutt) Handy, Bowlings Branch Community; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jim Handy, Gordonsville, Donnie and Ruby Handy, Defeated Creek, Bill and Evelyn Handy, Rickman, and Ray and Rosie Handy, Lebanon; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kay and Chuck Wright, Clarkrange, Joyce Cox, Castalian Springs, and Becky Handy, Hickman; a sister, Gertrude Honeycutt, Brush Creek; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
