Uree Dodson Gibbons
Funeral services for Mrs. Uree (Dodson) Gibbons, 85, of Manchester and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2001, from the chapel of Coffee County Funeral Chapel in Manchester. Burial was in the Dodson Chapel cemetery in Overton County with Coffee County Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Gibbons died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Manchester Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Effis Dodson and Amanda Mary Jane (Massey) Dodson, and her husband, Charles A. Dodson.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty McCormick, McMinnville; a son, Joe Gibbons, Manchester; four grandchildren, Kammie Vincent and Rhonda Keele, both of Manchester; Landon McCormick, McMinnville; and Reece McCormick, Nashville; three step-grandchildren, Tammy Kelly, Manchester, and Richard Mason and Tim Mason, both of Rock Island; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; seven step-great grandchildren; and four step-great-great grandchildren.

Joseph Henry BilBrey
Graveside services for Mr. Joseph Henry Bilbrey, 89, of Hermitage, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2001, from Hermitage Memories Mausoleum in Hermitage with Dr. Garry Speich officiating. Hermitage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr.Bilbrey died Thursday, March 15, 2001. He worked for General Motors for over forty years.

He was born in Overton County, and was the son of Joseph Morgan and Nora (Qualls) Bilbrey. Survivors include a son, Donald Bilbrey, and several nieces and nephews.

Joel Curtis Parris
Funeral services for Mr. Joel Curtis Parris, 81, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2000, from Byrdstown Memorial Chapel with Bro. Rick Cross officiating. Burial was in Cope cemetery with Byrdstown Memorial Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Parris, a minister, was born August 23, 1918, in Oklahoma to the late Wilburn Parris and Minnie Holt Parris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Loraine Sewell; and a daughter, Joann Parris. He was a veteran of WWII. He was also a Mason.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Hassler, and Barbara Barnett, both of Byrdstown; four brothers, Tom Parris, Dawson, GA, Marshall Parris, Monroe, Jim Parris, Chattanooga, and Paul Parris, Kingsport; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bryan Barnett, Andy Gray, Junior Parris, Steve Harris, Steve Garrett, and Mike Barnett.

William Glenn mMitchell Sr.
Memorial services for Mr. William Glenn Mitchell Sr., 74, of Orlando, FL, and formerly of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2000, at First United Methodist Church in Orlando, FL, with Reverends E. Wayne Curry and Paul Juvinall officiating, following a family graveside service.

Mr. Mitchell, a lawyer for 45 years in Orlando, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000.

Born October 2, 1926, in Livingston, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Orlando, FL. He served as chairman of the church's administrative board several times, as well as serving as chairman of the Board of Trustees and on the finance and nominating committees. He also taught the Dietrich Sunday school class for 18 years. In addition to his church activities, he was a member of the North Orlando Kiwanis Club, the University Club, the YMCA Board of Directors, and volunteered legal services to Habitat for Humanity. He was also a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar and the Orange County Bar Association, for which he served as its president in 1967-1968.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Mitchell, Orlando, FL; two sons, William Glenn Mitchell Jr. and Charles Pendleton Mitchell, both of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Melissa Lee, Atlanta, GA, and Mary Ann, Bedford, TX; daughter-in-law, Debbie; three brothers, Charles Mitchell, Livingston, Richard L. Mitchell, Cookeville, and John H. Mitchell, Oak Ridge; a brother-in-law, James K. Rush; a brother-and-sister-in-law, Pen and Stella Gaines; and two grandsons, Justin and William.

Willie Haskel Davis
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Haskel Davis, 66, of Silver Point, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, from the Baxter chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Burgess officiating. Burial was in Smellage Memory Gardens with Whitson Funeral Home of Baxter in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Davis, a retired forklift driver with General Motors, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born April 9, 1934, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Willie Jefferson and Emma Elander (Buck) Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Perry Davis and Luke Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Melba (Sells) Davis, Silver Point; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Alan and Rebecca Davis, Fontana, CA; a daughter, Leigh Ann Davis, Baxter; three brothers, Luther Davis, Edward Davis, both of the Timothy Community of Overton County, and George Davis, Rickman; three sisters, Zelma Beaty, Rickman, Ola King, Anderson, IN, and Myrtie Ledbetter, Cookeville; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Nicki, Kristen, Audria, and Houston.

Anita Pearl Garrett Franklin
Funeral services for Mrs. Anita Pearl (Garrett) Franklin, 84, of Decatur, IL, and formerly of Monroe, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2000, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home in Byrdstown. Burial was in Cope cemetery in Pickett County with Crestlawn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Franklin died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at her home.

Born February 28, 1916, in the Oak Grove community of Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Ida (Rich) Garrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rixie Duval Franklin; five brothers; and four sisters.

She was a charter member of the Christmas Tree Road Baptist Church in Decatur, IL, and a former member of First Baptist Church in Pittsfield, IL.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Dick Cheatham, Decatur, IL, and Wanda and Eric Huntley, Maineville, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jo Ann Franklin, Salisbury, NC; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Verna Garrett, Orlando, FL; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lenora Farr, Crossville, Charlene and Joe Carter, Mt. Juliet, and Sharon Kneipp, Milford, OH; two sisters-in-law, Shiela King, Pickett County, and Juanita Story, Overton County; two grandsons, Kyle Franklin, Knoxville, and David Cheatham, Decatur, IL; four granddaughters and two grandsons-in-law, Heather (Huntley) and Kirk Thompson, Fredricksburg, VA, Stacey (Franklin) and Steven Hanf, Salisbury, NC, Megan Huntley, Cincinnati, OH, and Bekki Cheatham, Decatur, IL; a great grandson, Joshua Thomspon, Fredricksburg, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Pallbearers were David Cheatham, Adam Smith, Randal Garrett, Lowell Garrett, David Story, and Gayron Franklin.

David Jerry Tyree
Funeral services for Mr. David Jerry Tyree, 57, of Warren, MI, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, from the Rickman Chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial was in Zion Hill cemetery with the Rickman Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Tyree, a machinist and factory worker, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at his home.

Born November 20, 1942, in Smithville, he was the son of the late John Alvin and Ennie Mae (Harp) Tyree.

He was of the Methodist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a son, David Jo Tyree, Elk Grove Village, IL; a daughter, Suzanne Tyree, Chesterfield Township, MI; two brothers, Alvin Keith Tyree, Goodlettsville, and John Edward Tyree, Gallatin; a sister, Judy Pendergrass, Rickman; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tim Pendergrass, Sam Pendergrass, T.J. Pendergrass, Alvin Tyree, Gary Breeding, and Ron Jones.

David Crabtree
Funeral services for Mr. David Crabtree, 49, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Crabtree, a furniture factory worker, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born June 22, 1951, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Leslie and Frances (Roberts) Crabtree.

He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two brothers, Marvin Crabtree, Livingston, and Robert Crabtree, Monroe; a sister, Joyce Callender, Ashtabula, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Ronnie WillIam Allred
Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie William "Hack" Allred, 46, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Cobb officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Allred died Friday, Jan. 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a construction worker and a member of Livingston First Baptist Church.

Born March 15, 1955, in Jackson County, he was the son of Joyce (Carmack) Allred of Livingston and the late William Reed Allred. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Auda Allred and Shirley and Marietta (Wilson) Carmack; three uncles; and two aunts.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sons, Johnathan William Gore Allred, Livingston, and Brian Allen Gore, Alabama; six sisters, Rita Joyce Phillips, Monterey, Lisa Gore, Christie Liegh Crabtree, and Candi Lynn Stover, all of Livingston, Gina Kaye Cassadine, Murfreesboro, and Jennifer Dawn Flowers, Cookeville; two brothers, Bobby Michael Allred and Ricky Lynn Allred, both of Livingston; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers were Dexter Phillips, Alan Ford, Joshua Gore, Terry Flowers, Johnny Scott, and Jerry Stover.

Maggie Lois Taylor
Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Lois Taylor, 96, of Alvord, TX, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan.30, 2002, from the chapel of Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur, TX, with Minister H.L. Garner officiating and Bill Cleveland assisting. Burial will be in Sycamore cemetery in Wise County, TX, with Coker Funeral Home Chapel in charge of the arrangements. Information provided by Speck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Taylor died Sunday, Jan. 27 in Decatur. She was a retired restaurant manager and a member of Alvord Baptist Church.

Born October 28, 1905, in Livingston, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Petway Taylor; and two daughters, Jessie Faye Morrison and Robbie Francis Chambers.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Taylor and Herbert Taylor, both of Decatur, and James Taylor, Belton, TX; four daughters, Claudine Phillips, Killeen, TX, Betty Knight, Tioga, TX, Billie Jean Neal, Bells, TX, and Johnnie Ward, Grand Prairie, TX; a brother, Earnest Conner, Crossville, IL; two sisters, Eula Keisling, Marinna, AR, and Roxie Keisling, Monroe; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Morrison, Gary Chambers, James Phillips, Danny Taylor, Billy Vernon Neal Jr., and David Ward. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Phillips, Michael Taylor, Bruce Neal and Randy Taylor.

Bertha Elizabeth McBride
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth McBride, 58, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Minister Robert Turner officiating. Burial was in McDonald cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. McBride died Sunday, Jan. 27, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a housewife.

Born in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Carlos and Bessie Lynn Pennington.

Survivors include her husband, Luther McBride, Hilham; a brother, Aaron Pennington, Celina; seven sisters, Frances Langford and Helen Westmoreland, both of Celina, Alpha Hall and Evelyn Boles, both of Hilham, Janie Pennington, Indiana, Alta Southland, London, KY, and Eva Turner, Cookeville; and a special nephew, Champ Pennington, Hilham.

Lucile (Lynn) Maxwell
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucile (Lynn) Maxwell, 90, of Livingston, were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Green officiating. Burial was in Campground cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Maxwell died Thursday, Jan. 24 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired Overton County teacher after 35 years. She was a member of Hilham United Methodist Church, Overton County Retired Teachers Association, and Tennessee Education Association.

Born September 15, 1911, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Price and Sarah (Carwile) Lynn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Austin Maxwell; three sisters, Eva Mae Brown, Susie V. Mills, and Elese Boyd; two brothers, Davis Lynn and Cecil Lynn; and a grandchild, Lisa Ann Turner.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ray Turner, Hendersonville; three grandchildren and two grandsons-in-law, Steven Turner, Dana and Steven Reece, and Jill and John Gomas; two great granddaughters, Taylor Reece and Macy Reece; and two great grandsons, Samuel Gomas and Eli Gomas.

Ernest Little
Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Little, 84, of Cookeville, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Winningham officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Little died Friday, Jan. 25 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He worked in the finance business most of his life and retired from Farmers Home Administration. He was a member of Cookeville Christian Church, a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps, and a member of the V.F.W. & American Legion, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Tennessee Farm Bureau.

Born November 10, 1917, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Huey V. and Nan (Fletcher) Little. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ninia Dean Beaty; and two brothers, John Dennie Little and Donald Little.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Little, Cookeville; a son, Bruce Averitt, Memphis; four brothers, Champ Little and Ray Little, both of California, and Emitt Little and Dock Little, both of Cookeville; two sisters, Geneva Crabtree, Monroe, and Norma Ruth Brown, Sufford, VA; a granddaughter, Vicki Lynn Morris; and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Robbins, Ralph Robbins, Dale Beaty, Mike Beaty, Roger Crabtree, and Mike Aldridge.
