Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Nelson, 75, of Rickman, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2001, from the chapel of Rickman Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Monday officiating. Burial was in the Zion Hill cemetery with Rickman Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Nelson died Sunday, August 12, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born December 22, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Columbus and Mandy (Cox) Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Bilbrey; three brothers, Elvin Nelson, Eugene Nelson, and Odene Nelson; and a sister, Carrie Nelson.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Taylor) Nelson, Rickman; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Emma Nelson, Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ronnie Qualls, Livingston; three sisters, Mae Pryor, Indianapolis, IN, Eathelene (Brown) Haste, Livingston, and Christine Harris, Swallows Chapel Community; a brother, Edward Nelson, Algood; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two step- grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tim Hite, Jason Crabtree, Charles Peek, Scott Davis, Anton Coleman, and Shawn Hughes.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ronald Qualls and Chris Keeter.

Lola (Walker) Vaughn
Funeral services for Mrs. Lola (Walker) Vaughn, 78, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ferrell Looper officiating. Burial was in the Harris Chapel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Vaughn died Wednesday, August 8, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired restaurant worker and affiliated with the Full Gospel Church.

Born November 23, 1922, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Dora Lee (Norrod) Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Vaughn.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Marie Vaughn and Frances Robbins, both of Livingston; five grandchildren, Angela Marie Scantland, Becky Virginia Smith, Jason Robbins, Valerie Kingery, and Richard Robbins; ten great grandchildren, Brandon Chaffins, Kyle Chaffins, Drew Smith, Daniela Smith, Josh Smith, James Smith, Jessie Smith, Grace Smith, Ethan Robbins, and Devin Robbins; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Larry Hancock, David Chaffins, George Chaffins, Tom Smith, Jon Chaffins, and John Lovelace.

Jewell Oneda Bilbrey
Funeral services for Ms. Jewell Oneda Bilbrey, 65, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2001, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Nardin and Bro. John Copeland officiating. Burial was in the Bradley C. and Lucille Ledbetter Family cemetery in Overton County with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Bilbrey died Saturday, August 4, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker, member of the Eastern Star, and of the Central Baptist Church.

Born March 29, 1936, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Bradley and Bessie (Garrett) Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death a sister, Betty Ledbetter; and three brothers, Clifford Ledbetter, Lavy Ledbetter, and Bethel Ledbetter.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Thompson, Cookeville, and Shelia Melton, Detroit, MI; four sons, Brad Carr, Rickman, Bill Burks Livingston, Bruce Qualls, St. Clair, MI, and Jack Fuson, Detroit; a sister, Joyce Wakefield, Livingston; three brothers, Bradley, Ledbetter, Carl Ledbetter, and J. B. Ledbetter, all of Livingston; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joe Garrett, Jerry Garrett, Dennis Copeland, Johnny Thompson, John Qualls, and George Carr.

Aneva (Upton) Ward
Funeral services for Mrs. Aneva (Upton) Ward, 46, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ferril Looper officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ward died Thursday, August 9, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a case manager at Dale Hollow Mental Health and a member of the First Baptist Church, Livingston.

Born April 4, 1955, in Overton County, she was the daughter of Roy Hugh Upton and the late Sarah Ruth (Bilbrey) Upton.

Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, William "Bill" Chester Ward Jr., Livingston; two brothers, Dr. Sonny Upton, Goodlettsville, and Dr. Joe Upton, Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Lola (Walker) Vaughn
Funeral services for Mrs. Lola (Walker) Vaughn, 78, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ferrel Looper officiating. Burial was in the Harris Chapel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Vaughn died Wednesday, August 8, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and of the Full Gospel faith.

Born November 23, 1922, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Dora (Norrod) Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Vaughn.

James Lee Ringley Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. James Lee Ringley Jr., 26, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Aron Dillon and Rev. Robert Ziehmer officiating. Burial was in the Hill Gunter cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ringley died Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was employed with Ringley Tree Service and was a member of the First Christian Church in Livingston.

Born October 16, 1974, in Marion County, Indiana, he was the son of Juanita and James Ringley Sr.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Wendy Ringley, Hilham; a son, James Lee Ringley III, Hilham; a daughter, Alexis Ringley, Hilham; a grandmother, Nettie Hewitt, Indianapolis, IN; three brothers, Steve Timmons, Livingston, Walt Timmons, Washington D.C., and Brandon Keys, Indianapolis; and a sister, Michele Ledbetter, Livingston.

Pallbearers were Steve Timmons, Walt Timmons, Michele Ledbetter, Brandon Keys, Darrell Ledbetter, and Johnny Vaughn.

Preston Todd Melton
Graveside services for Master Preston Todd Melton, infant son of Brian Todd and Andrea Lynn (Chamness) Melton of Anderson, IN, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 15, 2001, at East Maplewood cemetery in Anderson, with Minister Ronald Massey officiating. Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory will be in charge of the arrangements.

Master Melton died Saturday, August 11, 2001, at St. John's Health System in Anderson.

He was born Saturday, August 11, 2001 in Anderson.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two brothers, Connor Lee Melton and Spencer Keith Melton, both of Anderson; paternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Melton, Anderson; maternal grandparents, Keith and Judy Chamness, Anderson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pearlie Jean Loftis
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearlie Jean Loftis, 67, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2001, from the chapel of Algood Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in the Poplar Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Loftis died Friday, August 10, 2001, at her home. She was a factory worker and member of the Algood Freewill Baptist Church.

Born June 19, 1934, in Knox County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Tina (Toliver) Adams.

Survivors include two sons, Carl E. Loftis Jr., Dallas, GA, and Jeff Loftis, Livingston; a sister, Shirley Jackson, Hamilton, OH; 14 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Myrtle Orbis Judd
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Orbis Judd, 81, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville, with Bro. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating. Burial was in the Bear Creek cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Judd died Saturday, August 11, 2001, at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a housewife.

Born June 17, 1920, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sammie and Chancie Mae (Peterman) Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Judd; a brother, Milburn Webb; and two sisters, Gertie Hicks and Clemma Hooks.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Clio and Estellean Webb, Overton County; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Reba and Clay Smith and Hessie and Uyles Bilyeu, all of Overton County; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Will Paul Hembree
Funeral services for Mr. Will Paul Hembree, 76, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Mark Gaw officiating. Burial was in the Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hembree died Saturday, August 11, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was the owner of the Hembree Candy Company and a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church.

Born November 12, 1924, in Livingston, he was the son of the late William Henry and Della (Gillentine) Hembree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Carl Hembree; and two sisters, Henrietta Greenwood and Bernice Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Oneta (Bean) Hembree, Cookeville; a son, Ronnie Hembree, Cookeville; a sister, Margaret Carr, Knoxville; and a brother, Charles Hembree, Dayton, OH.

Pallbearers were Jerome Carr, Paul Gaw, Martin Hazlett, Danny Hembree, Terry Hembree, Robert Jackson, Gary Rector, and Greg Rector.

William McKinley Garrett Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. William McKinley Garrett Jr., 48, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Halliburton officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Gilead cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Garrett died Thursday, August 9, 2001, at his home. He was disabled and of the Catholic faith.

Born July 15, 1953, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James Arlo and Teola (Breeding) Hamilton.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Garrett, Livingston; two sons, Patrick Garrett and Jonathan Garrett, both of Sparta; a daughter, Michelle Garrett, Sparta; three brothers, Ricky Hamilton, Rickman, and Jeff Hamilton and Randy Hamilton, both of Livingston; and a sister, Janet Flowers, Livingston.

Destel Bilbrey
Funeral services for Mr. Destel Bilbrey, 75, of Clarkrange, TN, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Bud Harris and Rev. Michael Swallows officiating. Burial was in the Midway cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bilbrey died Monday, August 6, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was retired from Manchester Tank in Crossville after 30 years of service, he also worked in the timber industry, and was a member of the Union B Freewill Baptist Church.

Born March 19, 1926, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Vanus and Ova Della (Phillips) Bilbrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Kay Bilbrey; four sisters, Belva Phillips, Elva Swallows, Elsie McCowan, and Delisie Swallows; and two brothers, Vestel Bilbrey and Estel Bilbrey.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Opal (Neely) Bilbrey, Clarkrange; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ronald Harris, Monterey; a son and daughter-in-law, R.D. and Charlotte Bilbrey, Clarkrange; two sisters, Velva Padgett and Delva Melton, both of Monterey; a brother, Bestel Bilbrey, Monterey; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Charles Austin Barnes
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Austin Barnes, 80, of Dayton, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville. Whitson Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Barnes died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital . He was a farmer, and served in World War II in the European campaign as a combat medic. He moved with his family to Dayton in 1951 and worked at Seibenthaler Nursery, General Motors and then retired from Hobart Manufacturing, Dayton Scale Division, as a machinist after 33 years of service. He attended the Calvary Open Bible Church.

Born near Algood, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Jess and Laura (Breeding) Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin brothers; and another brother, James Hollis Barnes.

Survivors include his wife Margie Barnes, Dayton; a daughter, Brenda Barnes, Dayton; a son, Michael Barnes, Dayton; and a sister Clara Jean Stockton, Cookeville.
