Everett Dewight Parsons
Funeral services for Mr. Everett Dewight Parsons, 73, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Tompkins officiating. Burial was in Monroe cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Parsons, a retired rural mail carrier, died Thursday, August 12, 1999, at St. Thomas Hospital. Born August 21, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Andrew and Lillian Hicks Parsons.

He was a member of Monroe Christian Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Rich Parsons, Monroe; two sons, Buckie Parsons and Rickie Parsons, both of Livingston; two daughters, Cathy Jolley, Livingston, and Evetta Parsons, Monroe; four brothers, Howard Parsons and Andrew 'Spud' Parsons, both of Monroe, Porter 'Pete' Parsons, Nashville, and Glenn 'Dock' Parsons, Livingston; a sister, Wilma King, Monroe; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a step grandchild.

Pallbearers were Buck Parsons, Andy Parsons, Matthew Jolley, Burt Jolley, Lee Bilbrey, and Billy Joe Norrod.

Jimmy Hugh Upton
Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Hugh Upton, 56, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Boles officiating. Burial was in McFerrin cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Upton, a truck driver, died Wednesday, August 4, 1999, at his home.

Born April 11, 1943, in Overton County, he was the son of Loverda Bilbrey Upton of Cookeville and the late Norman Hugh Upton.

He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Kathy Upton, Cookeville; two daughters, Denise Dunn and Tabitha Upton, both of Cookeville; two sisters, Reba Upton, Cookeville, and Shirley McCarey, Colorado; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Daron Dunn, Scottie Key, Dustin Vaughn, Jimmy Stevens, Jay Whitson, and Vestal Peterman. Honorary pallbearer was Talmadge Carr.

Walter Davis Hammock
Funeral services for Mr. Walter Davis Hammock, 81, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Maxwell Chapel with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hammock, a retired monument builder, died Tuesday, August 3, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 30, 1918, in Overton County, he was the son of the late George and Vena Hammons Hammock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Bennett Hammock; and a son, Keith Hammock.

He was a member of Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Key, Crawford; a brother, Burris Hammock, Livingston; a sister, Enoie Coffman, Centralia, WA; four grandchildren, Michael Hammock, Judith Phillips, Melissa Taylor, and James Hammock; and five great grandchildren, Chad, Jason, Duran, Rusty and Jeremy.

Pallbearers were Jason Breeding, Kenny Dishman, Mark Cantrell, Jeff Walker, Greg Walker, and Jared Norrod. Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Pigg, Frank Pigg, David Pigg, Jerry Pigg, Don Pigg, Clifton Pigg, Mark Walker, and Buck Phillips.

Evelyn (Davis) Carr
Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn (Davis) Carr, 61, of McMinnville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Bro. Bill Coe officiating. Burial was in the Ray Williams cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arranements.

Mrs. Carr died Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at Masters Health Care in Algood. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Born April 19, 1939, in Celina, she was the daughter of the late Arschel Landon Davis and Eurie Alvie Scott.

Survivors include a son, Dewayne Carr, Baxter; five brothers, James Hall Davis, Blairsville, GA, Willard Davis and Mitchell Davis, both of Celina, Alton Davis, Allons, and Martin Davis, Clarksville, GA; a sister, Carolyn Pickelsimer, Blairsville, GA; and two grandchildren, Dane Newman Carr and Mallory Noell Carr.

Eulas Hinson
Funeral services for Mr. Eulas Hinson, 72, of the Tyler Point Community near Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2001, at Tyler Point Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene McCowan and Rev. Roger Sisco officiating. Burial was in the Tyler Point cemetery with Goff Funeral Home of Monterey in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hinson died Monday, February 19, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer, a retired school bus driver with Overton County School Systems with 29 years of service, and a member of Tyler Point Freewill Baptist Church.

Born May 16, 1928, in Overton County, he was the son of the late George Lynn and Alice (Harris) Hinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Oakley and Juanita Tinch; and five brothers, Calvin Hinson, J.C. Hinson, Arie Hinson, J.T. Hinson, and A.B. Hinson.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell (Phillips) Hinson, Tyler Point Community; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and Larry Lowe, Crossville, and Janice and Chris Brown, Tyler Point Community; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sherrie Hinson, Tyler Point Community; a sister, Lilly Looper, Rickman; two brothers, Freeman Hinson, Anderson, IN, and Av Hinson, Lavergne; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mauddeen Garrett
Funeral services for Mrs. Mauddeen Garrett 78, of Crawford, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Stevie Garrett, Rev. Kevin Phillips, and Rev. Elmer Graham officiating. Burial was in the Welch Memorial cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Garrrett died Friday, February 23, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired factory worker and a member of the Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church.

Born May 11, 1922, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Stella (Walker) Sisco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Aldora Vaughn; a grandson, Ronnie Garrett; and a great grandson, Christopher Ledbetter.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Terry Colwell, Crawford; three sons and daughters-in-laws, Collins and Estelle Sisco, Hewey and Diana Garrett, and Rev. Stevie and Rita Garrett, all of Dunkirk, IN; a sister, Magdalene Vaughn, Crawford; a brother, Dewey Sisco, Dunkirk, IN; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Kevin Dale Flowers
Funeral services for Mr. Kevin Dale Flowers, 28, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial was in the McDonald cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Flowers died Saturday, February 24, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a brick mason.

Born January 26, 1973, in Overton County, he was the son of Dale Franklin and Janice (Cope) Flowers of Livingston.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his grandmother, Novie Cope, Alpine; two sons, Nicholas Flowers and Dakota Flowers, Livingston; three daughters, Kelsey Flowers, Angel Flowers, and Destiny Flowers, Livinston; two brothers, Michael Mabe and Eddie Mabe, both of Livingston; a sister, Brandy Flowers, Livingston; and several uncles and aunts.

Alex "Daniel" Copeland
Funeral services for Mr. Alex "Daniel" Copeland, 73, of Monterey and Nashville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Mark Hamaker and Rev. J.S. Hicks officiating. Burial was in the Copeland cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Copeland died Thursday, February 22, 2001, at his home in Monterey. He was a retired truck driver with Gateway and from Trailblazer Bus Lines and formerly owned and operated Alex Repair Service.

Born March 29, 1927, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lafayette and Lula (Swallows) Copeland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dannie Copeland; two sisters, Ina Vanderpool and Edna Hodge; and four brothers, Bailey Copeland, Carlie Copeland, Bennie Copeland, and Willie Copeland.

Survivors include his wife, Clemma Rose (Riddle) Copeland, Monterey; three daughters, Sunny Spain and Betty Gale, both of Nashville, and Bobbie Hotsinpiller, Cookeville; a son, Lark Copeland, Nashville; a sister, Lillian Ward, Monterey; a brother, Olga Copeland, Greenville, OH; and ten grandchildren.

Buren E. Phillips
Funeral services for Mr. Buren E. Phillips, 89, of Algood, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 1999, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating. Burial was in Aaron's Chapel cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Phillips, a farmer, died Monday, November 15, 1999, at Masters Health Care Center in Algood.

Born February 8, 1910, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John Calvin and Dillie (Crabtree) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ethel (Young) Phillips; five brothers, Wesley Phillips, William Phillips, Jessie Phillips, Bennie Phillips, and Benton Phillips; and five sisters, Tina Phillips, Lucy Turney, Sade Turney, Martha Webb, and Rhoda Bennett.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Willie Dean Neeley, Hilham, and Mary Alice Buck, Gainesboro; five sons, Willie B. Phillips, Haywood Phillips, and Johnny Joe Phillips, all of Hilham, Thurman Phillips, Cookeville, and Howard Phillips, Livingston; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jr. Phillips, Billy Phillips, Donnie Phillips, Mark Phillips, Bruce Phillips, Michael Phillips, Tony Phillips, Joey Neeley, and Bobby Buck.

Erna A. Looper
Graveside services for Mrs. Erna A. Looper, 88, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 10, 1999, with Bro. Paul Holland and Bro. Chris Coil officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Looper, a housewife, died Thursday, December 9, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Born May 18, 1911, in Glenwood, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Henry and Clara Jane (Watterson) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Looper; six brothers and sisters, Mabel Jenkenson, Ernest Ray Johnson, Julia Crowe, Audrey Corriel, Effie Leslie, and Minnie Cubbage; and a half-brother, Herbert Elza Johnson.

She was a member of Livingston Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Fred and Laura Looper, Jackson; four grandchildren, Gary Looper, Livingston, Marte Looper Johnson, Amarillo, TX, Susan Looper, Dallas, TX, and Beth Pomeroy, Jackson; and a special friend, Gladys Andrews, Livingston.

Pearl Copeland
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Copeland, 82, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in the Eckel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Copeland died Tuesday, December 12, 2000, at the Overton County Nursing Home.

She was a housewife and a member of the Sulpher Community Church.

Born July 17, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Lola Lewis Dickerson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher Copeland; a brother, Pinoch Dickerson; a sister, Raymonda Poston; and an infant brother.

Survivors include four sons, Gordon Copeland, Allons, Maurice Copeland, Rickman, and Kenneth Copeland and Don Copeland, both of the Sulpher Community; two daughters, Sue Huddleston, Cookeville, and Marie Philpot, Livingston; a brother, Glen Dickerson, Cookeville; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Copeland's grandchildren served as pallbearers.

Steven Dewayne Buell
Funeral services for Mr. Steven Dewayne Buell, 34, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday December 3, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Perry Clayton officiating. Burial was in the New Hope cemetery in Jackson County with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Buell died Friday, December 1, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was a roofer and of the Methodist faith.

Born September 22, 1966, he was the son of Lynda Daniels Buell Hammock of Livingston and the late Earl Buell.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a brother, Mike Buell, Monroe; two sisters, Melinda Frogge and Nancy Buell, both of Livingston; a half sister, Delilah Blankenship, Allons; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers were David Raines, Glenn Raines, Shane Booher, Frankie Ray, Mark Daniels, and Michael Mays.
