Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Ann Wright, 62, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Wright died December 11, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was a retired factory worker from Berkline and a member of the West End Church of Christ.

Born April 9, 1938, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Kermit and Nellie Mullins Conner. Survivors include her husband, Claudie Gene Wright, Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Shelia Wright, Livingston; a brother, Kermit Conner Jr., Livingston; a sister, Linda Ogletree, Allons; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kristian Mansell, Bobby Bryant, Jim Ringley, Ron Gordley, Thomas Estep, and Ricky Bowman.

Mary Jo Poston
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jo Poston, 68, of Franklin, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Halliburton officiating. Burial was in Campground cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Poston died December 10, 2000, at West Boca Medical Center in Boca Raton, FL.

She was a retired seamstress for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI, and of the Baptist faith.

Born January 21, 1932, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late William Jasper and Sally Dee (Brown) Talley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Elaine Raymond.

Survivors include a son, Charles Poston, Franklin; four daughters, Mary Baker, Nashville, Vicky Nolen, Vine Grove, KY, Rhonda Wallace, Boca Raton, FL, and Cathy Burton, Cookeville; two brothers, Junior Talley, Las Vegas, NV, and Odell Talley, Hilham; a sister, Betty Kirkpatrick, Hilham; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Joe Frank Melton
Funeral services for Mr. Joe Frank Melton, 65, of Moss, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2000, at Pine Hill Church of Christ with Roy Henson officiating. Burial was at Moss with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Melton died Monday, December 11, 2000, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. He was a property assessor, a farmer, and he served in the U.S. Army.

Born January 31, 1935, in the Lillydale Community of Clay County, he was the son of Herman T. Melton and Mary Sevier. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Melton, and a sister, Alene Ames.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Melton, Moss; two sons, Joe Stephen Melton, Celina, and Sammuel Thomas Melton, McMinnville; a step-son, Mark Gillenwater, Franklin; a daughter, Beth Ann Melton, McMinnville; three step-daughters, Lisa Melton, Oak Grove, Heather Dunham, Bethpage, and Amanda Gillenwater, Moss; four brothers, Bobby G. Melton, Gainesboro, Billy Melton and Fred Melton, both of Moss, and George Melton, Oak Grove; three sisters, Kathleen Brady, Celina, Frances Fox, Castaic, CA, and Betty Smith, Celina; one grandchild; and three step-grandchildren.

Casper D. "Cap" Little
Funeral services for Mr. Casper D. "Cap" Little, 80, of Rickman, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, December 20, 2000 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Comer McGuire and Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial will be in Beaty cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Little died December 17, 2000, at his home. He was a farmer and a member of the Oak Hill Methodist Church. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Born May 23, 1920, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Proctor P. and Laura Ramsey Beaty Little. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Grace (Robbins) Little, and a brother, Randal Little.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Wells, Rickman, Margaret Brown, Cookeville, and Ann Fielder, Cookeville; grandchildren, Richard and Tina Brown, Mark Brown, Craig Brown, Wesley Brown, Shawn Fielder, Marnie and Raymond Bray, Bryan Wells, and Stephanie and Craig Norris; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth Norris, Shawna and Dusty Baker, Nicholas Bray, and Whitney and Kristen Brown.

Pallbearers were Richard Brown, Bryan Wells, Mark Brown, Wesley Brown, Shawn Fielder, Craig Norris, Dusty Baker, and Craig Brown. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Raymond Bray, Howard Wells, Willard Brown, Bill Cooper, and Nicholas Bray.

Willie Luther Hooks
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Luther Hooks, 82, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2000, from the chapel of Rickman Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Eckels cemetery with Rickman Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hooks died Thursday, December 7, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a security guard and attended Hardy's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

Born September 10, 1918, in Hilham, he was the son of the late Robert Noah and Cora Elizabeth (Dickerson) Hooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Climma (Webb) Hooks; six brothers, Benton Hooks, Henry Hooks, Louis Hooks, Walter Hooks, Eugene Hooks, and Columbus Hooks; and three sisters, Mary Gilliam, Martha Copeland, and Edith Nelson.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Hooks; two step-children, Virginia Moody, Cookeville, and A.B. Webb, Livingston; two sisters, Myrtle Hicks and Sylvia Tipton, both of Cookeville; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Willard Willis, Danny Webb, Stephen Hicks, Brandon Davenport, Allen Sells, David Harris, Carl Crawley, and Charles Lee Hicks.

Mary Kendall
Funeral services for Mary Kendall, 90, of Hilham, were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 1999, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Ken Miller officiating. Burial was in McDonald cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Kendall, a homemaker, died Sunday, December 5, 1999, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina.

Born March 2, 1909, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Ellen (Sutton) Kendall.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Roberta Virginia Robbins
Funeral services for Mrs. Roberta Virginia Robbins, 87, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 1999, from Grace Baptist Church in Alpine, with Rev. John Copeland officiating. Burial was in Bethsaida cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Robbins, a retired department store clerk and supervisor, died Thursday, December 9, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born July 4, 1912, in Rockport, KY, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lillian Maddox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Robbins.

She was affiliated with Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Goldia Nichols, Betty Robbins, and Loranza Robbins; seven nephews, Jack Robbins, Ray Robbins, Gerald Robbins, James Robbins, Darrell Robbins, David Nichols, and Leland Lawhern; eight nieces, Mabel Gandy, Bobbie Lawhern, Jan Harrison, Dana Chuchron, Dawn Wrigglesworth, Joyce Homyack, Carol Patwin, and Sandy Swczarski; and many great nephews and nieces. Pallbearers were Ray Ringley, Jim Wood, Gary Ledbetter, Bruce Ledford, Gerald Collins, and Darrell Flowers.

Opal Parrott Stover
Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Parrott Stover, 88, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, December 10, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Ledbetter officiating. Burial was in Hatcher Hall cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Stover, a retired Overton County school teacher, died Tuesday, December 7, 1999, at the Overton County Nursing Home.

Born June 25, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Commodore and Mary Hinds Parrott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Edward Stover. She was a member of the Free Communion Church of Christ.

Survivors include a brother, Caston 'Buck' Parrott, Michigan; a niece, Janina Parrott Jacobs, Michigan; and three nephews, Michael Parrott, Chris Parrott, and Patrick Parrott, all of Michigan. Pallbearers were Albert Jenkins, Adam Jenkins, Anthony Jenkins, Michael Parrott, Patrick Parrott, and Chris Parrott.

Vernon Howell
Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Howell, 87, of Dyer, were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 1999, from the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer. Burial was in Rutherford cemetery in Rutherford, with Karnes & Son Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Howell, affiliated with Hadley Farms, Hadley Construction, and Rogers Construction, died Monday, December 6, 1999, at the Dyer Nursing Home in Dyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nelle (Lawler) Howell.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Rutherford, the 32nd Degree Mason Bone Lodge, Trenton Order of Eastern Star #36 Worthy Grand Patron, and State of Tennessee 1977 Shriner.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Emrich, Livingston, and Betty Rose Thompson, Dyer; and one sister, Dora Seratte, McKenzie.

Bertha Tackett Lee Ellis
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Tackett Lee Ellis, 78, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 1999, from the Hilham Church of God, with Edward L. Todd officiating. Burial was in Berry cemetery in the New Hope Community of Jackson County, with Anderson Funeral Home of Gainesboro in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ellis, a homemaker, died Thursday, December 16, 1999, at the Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 14, 1921, in Sparta, she was the daughter of the late David and Jo Mae (Crawford) Tackett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-son, Howard Ellis; two brothers, Herbert Tackett and David Tackett Jr.; and a sister, Maggie Smith.
She was a member of the Hilham Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Clayton Ellis, Hilham; three sons, Johnny Tackett, Kettering, OH, Charles Lee, Hilham, and David Lee, Cookeville; two daughters, Virginia Wilkerson, Sparta, and Frances George, Napa, CA; a brother, Buster Tacket, Union, OH; four sisters, Jessie Mae Dobbs, Manchester, Ruby Parker, Tiptonville, Mildred Powers and Rowena T. Lowery, both of Murfreesboro; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

Minnie Belle Copeland
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Belle Copeland, 93, of Livingston, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Halliburton officiating. Burial was in Copeland cemetery, with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Copeland, a housewife, died Sunday, December 19, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born April 20, 1906, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Dillard and Linnie Alice (Lewis) Waites. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Copeland.

She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Keith Copeland, Huntsville, AL, Thomas Wayne Copeland, Middlesboro, KY, Seth Copeland, Michael Copeland, and Mont Copeland, all of Livingston; two daughters, Trelba Carlock, Livingston, and Mary Alice Holman, Florence, AL; a sister, Odell Beaty, Livingston; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Hoyt K. Barnes
Funeral services for Mr. Hoyt K. Barnes, 83, of Livingston were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 1999, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Newsome Harvey officiating. Burial was in Goodhope cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home of Livingston in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Barnes, a farmer, died Monday, December 13, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born July 16, 1916, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Dalton Talmadge and Callie Mae (Almonrode) Barnes.

He was a member of Freedonia Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Ann (Wilson) Barnes, Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Keith Barnes and Glenda D. Barnes, Donelson; a special niece, Shelia Padgett King, Rickman; two sisters, Hazel Dallas, Oregon, and Betty Jo Zaitzeff, California; and a granddaughter, Gatha Barnes, Donelson.

Pallbearers were Bill Sullivan, Larry Powell, Seymour Barnes, Carl Peterman, Jackie Wilson, and Jerry Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Ritchie Quarles, Bruce Barnes, Bill Warren, Byrd Dillon, Cletis Padgett, Pat Sullivan, Larry King, Carlos Pardue, and Mike Frizsell.

Robert Boian, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Boian, Jr., 75, of Monroe, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, December 17, 1999, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Harris officiating. Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home of Livingston in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Boian, a former employee of The Champion Paper Co, of Hamilton, OH, died Monday, December 13, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born February 23, 1924, in Paintlick, KY, he was the son of the late Robert and Ethel Mae (Davis) Boian, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae (Ramsey) Boian; and by his brother, Harold Boian.

He was deacon of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was also a past commander of the VFW Post in Hamilton, OH. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy Stratton and Cloyd Stratton, Monroe; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeff Wehr, Rob Wehr, Mike Wehr, Drew Stratton, Steve Woolum, and Chester Whittamore.

Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
