Willie D. Walker
Funeral services for Mr. Willie D. Walker, 80, of Celina, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Bill Threet officiating. Burial was in Moss cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Walker died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital. He was a self-employed farmer and affiliated with the Celina Church of Christ.

Born August 7, 1920, in Celina, he was the son of the late Wade and Mackie (Anderson) Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Etta (McLerran) Walker; a brother, Bedford Walker; a sister, Nellie Schassberger; and two infant children.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wallace and Barbara Walker, Celina, and Willis and Betty Walker, Hendersonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dwight Cherry, Celina; two foster children, Joe Radar, Indianapolis, IN, and Donna Sells, Rickman; three brothers, Wade Jack Walker and Thomas Walker, both of Celina, and Charlie Walker, Glasgow, KY; three sisters, Letha Reecer, Tipton, IN, Fean Boles, Celina, and Ruby McLerran, Moss; and three grandchildren, Chatt Holoway, Patrick Walker, and Kristy (Walker) Johnson.

Robert Clyde Sells
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Clyde Sells, 64, of Livingston, were conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Harris officiating. Burial was in the Sells cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sells died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a security guard with Arizona Protection Agency in Phoenix, AZ, and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Born January 16, 1937, in Coffee County, he was the son of Etta Mae (York) Sells of Akron, OH, and the late James Halton Sells. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Sells.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include four daughters, Alvina Hunter and Pam Hogue, both of Cookeville, Joyce Ogletree, Livingston, and Sonya Dishman, Danville, IL; three sisters, Joyce Sauers, Louise Smith, and Marie Jones, all of Akron; and six grandchildren, Steven Bilbrey, Cookeville, David Bilbrey, Beth Hogue, Jacob Dishman, Deric Dishman, and Savannah Walker, all of Livingston. Pallbearers were Landen Key, Floyd Danner, Scott Hunter, Steven Bilbrey, David Bilbrey, and Edward L. Sells. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Deric and Jacob Dishman.

Mary A. Adams
Funeral services for Mary A. Adams, 71, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Watson and Pastor Gary Neal officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Adams died Monday, April 8 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Christ Bible Baptist Church in Celina.

Born August 2, 1930, in Dunkirk, IN, she was the daughter of the late Raiford Lawrence and Nellie (Bogir) Mettler.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Adams, Livingston; a son, John Robert Adams, Rushville, IN; three daughters, Christy Jo Alsip, Livingston; Tamara Kay Neal, Kingston, and Beth Ann Carpenter, Monroe; a brother, Allan Mettler, Dunkirk, IN; 25 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Logan Carpenter, Quinton Carpenter, John Adams, David Adams, Brian Lott, Nathan Neal, Jimmy Reagan, and Norman Adams.

Dawn Marlynn (Henson) Willis
Funeral services for Mrs. Dawn Marlynn (Henson) Willis, 39, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. James Shaver and Bro. Freddie Looper officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Willis died Wednesday, April 10 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Livingston Church of God.

Born November 28, 1962, in LaFollette, she was the daughter of Verlin Henson of Livingston and the late Edna Jewell (Riggs) Henson. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Howard Jessie Henson; and maternal grandparents, Claude and Mary Susan Riggs.

Survivors, in addition to her father, include a daughter and son-in-law, Chasity Dawn and Donnie Hall, Livingston; a son, Joshua Lindsey Lee, Livingston; a stepdaughter, Lakrisha Willis, Livingston; a grandmother, Menerva Henson, LaFollette; her stepmother, Tina Henson, Livingston; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark Scott and Diane Henson, Livingston; two grandchildren, Brayden Jace Hall and Tanner Rylan Hall; and three nephews, Jacob Trey Henson, Chad Edens, and Brad Edens and his wife, Laura.

Pallbearers were Donnie Phillips, Baxter Hughes, J.D. Stevens, Mike Abston, Jerry Buck, and Andy Hall. Honorary pallbearers were Donna Phillips, JoAnn Abston, JoAnn Hall, and Wilma Rockwell.

Ernest Ray Swafford
Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Ray Swafford, 72, of Cookeville, and formerly of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Nolen Cantrell officiating. Burial was in Liberty cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Swafford died Tuesday, April 9 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was a factory worker for Nicholson File Co., a member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Army.

Born January 11, 1930, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Frank and Clanna (Sutton) Swafford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Swafford and Roy Swafford; and a grandchild.

Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Shock, Cookeville, Janice Naselroad, Anderson, IN, and Connie Walker, Daleville, IN; a son, James Swafford, Cookeville; a sister, Reba Jerrnigan, Knoxville; a brother, John Swafford, Anderson, IN; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Swafford, Tommy Naselroad, Steven Shock, Jeffery Zidek, Vaughn Walker, and John Shock.

darwin Carlos Storie
Funeral services for Mr. Darwin Carlos Storie, 83, of Pall Mall, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, from Williams Chapel Church with Bro. Randy Tompkins and Bro. Ricky Cross officiating. Burial was in Williams Chapel cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Storie died Monday, April 8 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and a former auto parts dealer. He was a member of Williams Chapel Church.

Born February 23, 1919, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Carlos and Ruby (Reed) Storie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Frona (Reagan) Storie; his wife, Mossie (Williams) Storie; a brother, Warren Storie; and a great granddaughter, Emmy Anderson.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gwenith and Sonny Anderson, Pall Mall; two sons and daughters-in-law, Vern and Linda Storie, Monroe, and Larry and Judy Storie, Byrdstown; two sisters, Lois Gunter and Georgia Wright, both of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Jay Storie, Pall Mall; eight grandchildren, Eddy Anderson, James Anderson, Chris Storie, Carey Storie, Connie Sells, Tina Roberts, Shawn Storie, and Scott Storie; eight great grandchildren; and a special friend, Cathern Delk, Jamestown.

Pallbearers were Chris Storie, Carey Storie, Eddy Anderson, James Anderson, Shawn Storie, Scott Storie, James Sells, and Larry Roberts.

Richard Landsen "Lands" Smith
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Landsen "Lands" Smith, 87, of Monroe, were conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, from chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Perry Clayton officiating. Burial was in Beaty cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday, April 10 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and a member of McDonaldÕs Chapel United Methodist Church.

Born January 7, 1915, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Hayes and Della (Beaty) Smith. Survivors include his wife, Veatrice Smith, Monroe; five sons, Kendel Smith, Randell Smith, Ronald Smith, and Larry Smith, all of Monroe, and Richard Smith, Nashville; a daughter, Donna Sue Pierce, Lascassas; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Smith, Michael Smith, Jeff Smith, Todd Smith, Brent Smith, Nathan Smith, Nicholas Smith, and Tyler Smith.

Dulsie Edna Richardson
Funeral services for Mrs. Dulsie Edna Richardson, 99, of Bay City, MI, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2002, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home with Bro. Travis Simpson officiating. Burial was in Bethsaida cemetery with Rickman-Hall Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Richardson died Tuesday, April 9 in Mount Clemens, MI.

Born August 4, 1902, in Fentress County, she was the daughter of the late Jim Thomas and Laura (Sells) King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Verdie Richardson; two daughters, Alzie Richardson and Orpha Gurnee; and a grandson, Douglas Gurnee.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Richardson, Arizona, and Donald Richardson, Michigan; four daughters, Clarice Justice, Hilham, and Edna Marker, Muriel Smith, and Ermine Hill, all of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Scott Smith, Steve Smith, Toby Marker, Gary Hill, Mark Gurnee, and Eddie Cope.

Conley Phillips Looper
Funeral services for Mrs. Conley Phillips Looper, 94, of Clarkrange, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Ovle Tinch and Rev. Clayton Padgett officiating. Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Looper died Monday, April 8 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilition Center in Monterey. She graduated from the Pleasant Hill Academy in 1929 as valedictorian and attended Tennessee Technological University. A retired school teacher, she taught in many schools in Overton County, such as Sunk Cane, Rickman, Thompson Flatt, Cedar Chapel, and Highland. She retired from Fentress County School Systems in 1972, teaching at Martha Washington and Clarkrange Schools. She attended the Freewill Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school for many years.

Born April 27, 1907, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Lou (Bilbrey) Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Juna Bowman, Portia Looper, Winnie Phillips, and Effie Looper; and four brothers, Rev. Hershel Phillips, Wilburn Phillips, Basil Phillips, and Forrest Phillips.

Survivors include her husband, Enloe Looper, Clarkrange; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Doug Brown, Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Cathy Looper, Springfield; three sisters, Artema Robbins, Battle Creek, MI, Delia Phillips, Chattanooga, and Sophia Roberts, Clarkrange; a brother, Warner Phillips, Clarkrange; and two step-grandchildren, Tony Brown, Columbia, and Danny Brown, Louisville, KY.

Gary Wayne Lee
Memorial services for Mr. Gary Wayne Lee, 43, of Hilham, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. H.S. Brown officiating. The family chose cremation. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Lee died Thursday, April 11 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a laborer and a resident of the New Hope Community of Jackson County.

Born February 15, 1959, in Gainesboro, he was the son of Charlie and Mildred (Carwile) Lee of Hilham.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Edwin Lee, Hilham; a sister, Sharon Hawkins, Hilham; and grandmother, Flora Carwile, Livingston.

Bessie Mae Laycox
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Mae Laycox, 87, of Livingston, were conducted at noon Wednesday, April 10, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Damon Corley officiating. Entombment was in Woodland Mausoleum with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Laycox died Monday, April 8 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Allons Baptist Church.

Born February 3, 1915, in Monterey, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Dillard and Thursey Jane (Ford) Welch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim E. Laycox; two sons, Billy Laycox and Don Laycox; and a daughter, Faye Dishman.

Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Calhoun, Brenda Jackson, and Beverly Dishman, all of Livingston, and Debbie Barriento, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Anthony Scott, Jerry Savage, Brian Scott, Shirley Gray, Doug Dishman, and Dewayne Dishman. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Donnie Laycox, Ray Hammock, T.G. Smith, Glenn Carr, Larry Lafferty, and David Hogue.

Dimple Lane
F uneral services for Mrs. Dimple Lane, 71, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Ken Burton officiating. Burial was in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Lane died Wednesday, April 10 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired supervisor at C&M Clothing and a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ.

Born April 24, 1930, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Reynolds) Guess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Johnson and Louetta Hargis.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Lane, Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Clyde Flowers, Cookeville; a brother, Doyle Guess, Cookeville; four sisters, Thelma Collier, Gladys Hart, and Carlene Phy, all of Cookeville, and Lois Denny, Shreveport, LA; and grandchildren, Bryan and Amanda Street and Brett Flowers, all of Cookeville.

Pallbearers were Hank Guess, John Lane, David Walker, Charles Judd, Dewey Mathis, and Donald Roberson.

Lanah Helen Dyer
Funeral services for Mrs. Lanah Helen Dyer, 44, of Fairview, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home with Bro. Max Mayo and Dr. Don Ragland officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellow cemetery with Baxter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dyer died Friday, April 12 at her home. She was a title clerk with Ford Motor Credit and a member of West View United Methodist Church in Fairview.

Born August 1, 1957, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Helen (Covington) Copeland of Cookeville and the late Thomas Howard Copeland. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Copeland.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Charles Dyer, Fairview; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Gerald Parham, Fairview; and two nephews and nieces. Pallbearers were Lloyd Covington, Charles Covington, John Stockton, Edward Copeland, Don Smith, and Kenneth Roberts.
