Clois A. "Boston" Clark
Funeral services for Mr. Clois A. "Boston" Clark, 75, of Livingston were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in the Clark cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Clark died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a cab driver and affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Born July 14, 1926, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late W.E. and Annie (Linder) Clark.

Survivors include several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Pallbearers were Bill Clark, Billy Bilbrey, Don Clark, Kenneth Clark, Bill Clark Jr., and Kirby Clark. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Bill Newberry.

Samuel Duane Murphy
Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Duane Murphy, 47, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Nolen Cantrell officiating. Burial was in Falling Springs cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Murphy, a custodian, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born August 24, 1952, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James and Hester Hargis Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Murphy; and two half-brothers, James Coleman and Joe Benton Coleman.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Spencer Murphy, Nashville; two daughters, Shannon Brown, Cookeville, and Melea Murphy, Rickman; two step-daughters, Megan Spencer, and Lindsey Spencer, Nashville; four sons, Johny Murphy, Buedingen, Germany, Christopher Murphy, Phoenix, AZ, and Jason Murphy and Josh Murphy, both of Rickman; four sisters, Wanda Jones, Akron, OH, Teddy Rose Simpson, Alpine, Valerie Barlow, Hilham, and Becky Raines, Livingston; three brothers, David Murphy, Alpine, and Jerry Murphy and Joe Murphy, both of Livingston; an aunt, Effie Coleman, Allred, and two grandchildren, Kristin Murphy, Cookeville, and Joseph Cobble, Algood.

Pallbearers were Mark Murphy, Donnie Simpson, Mike Abston, Marvin Leslie Jr., Kevin Abston, and Michael Simpson.

Reba D. Meglich
Funeral services for Mrs. Reba D. Meglich, 80, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 20, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home, with Rev. J. T. Johnson officiating. Burial was in St. John cemetery, with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Meglich, a housewife, died Saturday, December 18, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born May 17, 1919, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Betty (Zachary) Johnson. She was affiliated with Christ Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, James Meglich, Apison, and John Meglich, Cleveland, OH; a daughter, Joanne Bedwarski, East Lake, OH; two sisters, Elise Williams, Livingston, and Cleo Long, Hilham; seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Samuel "Sam" Lee Brown
Funeral services for Mr. Samuel 'Sam' Lee Brown, 83, of Rickman, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2000, from the Algood Chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home with Bro. Ferrel Looper officiating. Burial was in the Algood cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard, consisting of American Legion Post 135, VFW Post 6277, and VVA Chapter 741. Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Brown died Wednesday, December 6, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He raised a lot of watermelons on his Rickman farm before he sold it and was an avid fox and coon hunter.

He attended Bear Creek Baptist Church.

Born February 3, 1917, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Millie Lou (Gibbons) Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Elma Bohon Brown, Rickman; two daughters, Carol Brown, Livingston, and Linda Brown, Mt. Morris, MI; three sons, Jack Brown, Lebanon, Mitchell Brown, Fayetteville, GA, and Jimmy "Shorty" Brown, Algood; two brothers, Jared Brown, Rickman, and Fred Brown, Algood; 10 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Ronnie Wayne Conner
Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie Wayne Conner, 38, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2000, from Barnes Ridge Church of Christ with Bro. Kenny Spaw officiating. Burial was in the Clark cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Conner, a school bus driver and deputy sheriff for the Pickett County Government, died Sunday, July 16, 2000 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born February 14, 1962, in Overton County, he was the son of Nello and Lula (Clark) Conner of Monroe. He was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Conner, and grandparents, Robert and Inis Clark.

He was a life-long member of the Barnes Ridge Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Rosie (Brown) Conner, Livingston; three daughters, Jamie Conner, Jessica Conner, and Leesa Conner, all of Monroe; four sons, Cody Conner, R.J. Conner, Joseph Conner, all of Monroe, and Christopher Brown, Livingston; grandparents, Elmo and Bertha Conner, Monroe; three sisters, Regina Reeder, Rosie Cales, and Briania Conner, all of Monroe; four brothers, Ricky Conner and David Conner, both of Monroe, Timothy Conner, Pall Mall, and Dwain Conner, Livingston; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers were Bobby Stockton, Danna Dowdy, Cecil Huddleston, Larry Zachary, Bryan Franklin, Harlan Copeland, and Dennis Kennedy.

Elsie Mae (Boatman) Crabtree
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Mae (Boatman) Crabtree, 82, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville with Bro. Sterl Paramore officiating. Burial was in the Dodson Chapel cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Crabtree died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at University Medical Center in Lebanon.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church.

Born October 6, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Dora (Thompson) Boatman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Crabtree.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Frieda and Cecil Holder, Lebanon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Crabtree, Cookeville, and Douglas and Susan Crabtree, Lebanon; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Garland and Elleen Crabtree, Panama City, FL; four grandsons, Jeffrey Holder and wife, Linda, Bob Crabtree, Russ Crabtree, and Matthew Crabtree; a granddaughter, Kristy Crabtree; and a great grandson, Stephen Holder. Pallbearers were Junior Palk, Bob Crabtree, Matthew Crabtree, Russ Crabtree, Jeff Holder, and Billy Thompson.

Hallie Copeland Wilde
Memorial services will be held at a later date for Mrs. Hallie (Copeland) Wilde, 85, of Livingston, who died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born June 17, 1915, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Elza Allen and LouDora (Ledbetter) Copeland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wilde. Survivors include a sister, Odelle Ledbetter, Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Vestel "CUB" steward
Funeral services for Mr. Vestel "Cub" Steward, 66, of Hilham, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro with Bro. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating. Burial was in the New Hope cemetery in the New Hope Community of Jackson County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Steward died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired farmer.

Born September 5, 1934, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late James Henry and Maggie (Dishman) Steward. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Estellean and Clio Webb, Cookeville; two nephews and spouses, Garry and Sherry Webb and Roger and Kathy Webb; a great niece, Michelle Hoffman; and an aunt, Lizzie Hawkins, Gainesboro.

Elbert Clester Savage
Funeral services for Mr. Elbert Clester Savage, 86, of Alpine, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Nolan Cantrell and Bro. Scott Cantrell officiating. Burial was in the Vaughn cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Savage died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a clerk at Alpine Post Office, a member of Falling Springs Missionary Baptist Church, and a member of Livingston Masonic Lodge #259 for 50 years.

Born February 15, 1915, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Millard and Mary Jane (Staggs) Savage. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Effie (Norris) Savage; three sisters, Lucille Little, Dellas Savage, and Jessie Holt; and two brothers, E.J. Savage and Ben Savage.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ella Lefevre, Smithville, and Sue Savage and Cheryl Savage, both of Alpine; two brothers, Charles Savage, Ohio, and Jerry Savage, Allons; four sisters, Q.V. Dishman, Oste Turner, Joyce Shields, and Genevieve Walker, all of Allons; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Ronald Lee Phipps
Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Lee Phipps, 53, of North Miami, FL, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, from Mt. Pisgah Church with Rev. Cullom Maxfield officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Pisgah cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Phipps died Friday, March 30, 2001, in North Miami, FL. He was an installation manager at a fence company and a U.S. Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War.

Born May 30, 1947, in West Grove, PA, he was the son of Robert Phipps and the late Irene (Ballard) Phipps.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Ruth (Maxfield) Phipps, North Miami, FL; two sons, Louis Colon and Paul Colon; a daughter, Rhonda Phipps; a brother, Robert Dean Phipps; a sister, Brenda McClure; six brothers-in-law, Walter Maxfield, Indianapolis, IN, Jerry Maxfield, Monterey, Cullom Maxfield, Milton Maxfield, Grady Maxfield, and Benny Maxfield, all of Allons; eight sisters-in-law, Ruby Anderson, Celina, Francis Hargis, Indianapolis, IN, Faye Maxfield, Irene Mabrey, and Callie Renner, all of Allons, Betty Jo Hancock, Alpine, Maggie Hawn and Mary Lovely, both of Lake City; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Anna Lee Rich
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Lee Rich, 70, of Celina, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with minister Bill Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Fellowship cemetery in Allons with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Rich died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Baptist Church.

Born February 14, 1931, in Willow Grove, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Rosetta (Mathis) Dulworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Howard Rich.

Survivors include a son, Danny Rich, Celina; two daughters, Judy Atchley and Patsy Ann Poindexter, both of Celina; three brothers, Kirby Dulworth and Cordell Dulworth, both of Winfall, IN, and Edward Dulworth, Springfield; three grandchildren, Brandon Atchley, Jamie Colson, and Chris Poindexter; and one great grandchild, Allysa Colson.

Helen Barker
Mrs. Helen Barker, 84, of Inverness, FL, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Avante in Inverness. Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory in Inverness was in charge of the arrangements. She was a kindergarten teacher, having retired from the Citrus County School System in 1979 with more than 20 years of service. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Inverness.

Born April 18, 1918, in Alpine, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Marcia (Ledford) Carlock.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence S. Barker, Inverness; a brother, John Carlock, Livingston; a half-brother, Everel Carlock, Whitley City, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Lena Avo Bennett
Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Avo Bennett, 84, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bennett died Sunday, June 16 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was self-employed in the house cleaning business and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Born April 6, 1918, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Susie (Rector) Bean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert C. Bennett, and 17 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son, Herman Bean, HardyÕs Chapel Community; two daughters, Betty Waters, Nashville, and Dorothy Jean Noye, Ypsilanti, MI; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

Clyde Harrison Cantrell
Funeral services for Mr. Clyde Harrison Cantrell, 73, of Allred, were conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Falling Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cantrell died Friday, June 14 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a logger and of the Baptist faith.

Born March 31, 1929, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Hardy and Ethel Lee (Hammock) Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Artie Smith and Irene Cooper; and two brothers, Clifford Ray Cantrell and Willis "Shorty" Cantrell.

Survivors include his wife, Louree Cantrell, Allred; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Richard Flowers, Livingston; two brothers, Olef "Dude" Cantrell, Hilham, and James H. Cantrell, Oak Grove Community; four sisters, Auda Ledbetter and Nora Alice Flowers, both of Allred, Juanita Kissick, Munice, IN, and Edith Loftis, Cookeville; two grandchildren, Joshua Flowers and Sarah Flowers, both of Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Guy Choate, Junior Ledbetter, Glen Ledbetter, Cleston Ledbetter, Leonard Ledbetter, and Justin Ledbetter.
