Thomas Lee Swallows
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Lee Swallows, 59, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Davis, Rev. Nolan Cantrell, and Rev. Bud Hargis officiating. Burial was in Harris Chapel cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Swallows died Tuesday, Oct. 30 at his home. He was a truck driver, of the Freewill Baptist faith, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Born April 1, 1942, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William Clarmon and Cora Bertha (Ray) Swallows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lora Mae Phillips and Tinnie Bea Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Swallows, Rickman; three sons, Tommy Swallows, Tim Swallows, and Tony Swallows, all of Rickman; two daughters, Donna Matheney, Monterey, and Denice Lovelace, Livingston; a sister, Magdalene Walker, Rickman; five grandchildren, Tiffany Lovelace, Chris Matheney, Tyson Matheney, Ryan Swallows, and Ross Swallows; and a special cousin, Claude Key, Rickman.

Pallbearers were Bobby Smith, Alvin Stewart, Wayne Meadows, Tony Walker, James Wilson, and John Key.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bruce Coleman, W.G. Quarles, Jr., M.D., and his "trucker friends".

Carson Odell Winningham
Funeral services for Mr. Carson Odell Winningham, 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Holman and Bro. Terry McCloud officiating. Burial was in Hoover cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Winningham died Sunday, Sept. 23 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a truck driver, of the Baptist faith, member of the American Legion, and served as deputy sheriff under James Eldridge in Overton County.

Born Aug. 24, 1928, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Jonah Matt and Laura Mae (Stover) Winningham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Brown, Thula Bilbrey, and Cora Fletcher; and a brother, Haskell Winningham.

Survivors include a son, Troy Winningham, Seattle, WA; two brothers, Clarence Winningham, Baltimore, MD, and Claude Winningham, Yardley, PA; and a sister, Cleo Daniels, Livingston.

Pallbearers were Chris Adams, Jayson Adams, Michael Winningham, Bruce Winningham, David Masters, Randle Ledbetter, and Michael Boswell. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Dereck Masters.

Zora B. Boles
Funeral services for Mrs. Zora B. Boles, 80, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial was in Campground cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Boles died Tuesday, June 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and member of Christ Chapel United Methodist Church.

Born September 5, 1921, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Bell (Maxwell) Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Boles; two daughters, Edith Breeding and Ruby Speck; a brother Brad Martin; and two sisters, Della Parrish and Anna Mae Haney.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy C. Boles, Livingston; a son, Billy Boles, Livingston; five daughters, Emogene Smith and Rita K. Riley, both of Monroe, Imogene Robbins and Lou Veachel Vaughn, both of Livingston, and Judy Garrett, Cookeville; a brother, Odis Martin, Monterey; and two sisters, Ora Langford, Poplar Springs, and Charlotte Phillips, Cookeville.

Pallbearers were Steve Vaughn, Robbie Robbins, Darrell Smith, Scottie Robbins, David Breeding, Doug Breeding, Darrick Garrett, Anthony Robbins, Adam Robbins, Joel Smith, and Erick Riley.

Nellie Marie (Flowers) Daniels
Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Marie (Flowers) Daniels, 79, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Henderson officiating. Burial was in Nelson cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Daniels died Monday, June 24 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. She was a pastry cook, a cigar maker, and homemaker. She was also a member of Cullum Church of Christ.

Born September 21, 1922, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Pearl (Conatser) Flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Flowers; a sister, Opal Franklin; and a grandson, Larry Daniels Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Emerson Daniels, Livingston; a daughter, Barbara Hicks, Yuma, AZ; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Peggy Daniels, Livingston; seven sisters, Lillie Kennedy, Livingston, Avis Knight and Valeria Combs, both of Crossville, IL, Hazel Flippen, Las Vegas, NV, Omajean Bowman and Junice Copeland, both of Huntsville, AL, and Mazelle Melton, Monroe; a brother, Oliver Flowers, Crossville; seven grandchildren, Karen Rease, Debbie Riveras, Tim Plauman, Tammy Edge, David Nimmo, Stacy Melton, and Nicole Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Scott Melton, Shawn Melton, Levi Franklin, Dave Plauman, Tony Franklin, and Mark Franklin. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bill Bowman, Keith Copeland, Lenord Daniels, James Combs, Garryon Franklin, and Tim Plauman.

Lou Amy Eldridge
Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Amy Eldridge, 77, of Dayton, OH, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Nolen officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Eldridge died Monday, June 24 at Miami Valley Hospital.

Born September 21, 1924, in Algood, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ada (Nolen) Kenley Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Sedois Eldridge, Dayton; a son, Charles R. Eldridge; a sister, Etta Mae Sheppard, Florida; four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Gradon Eldridge, North Carolina, and William Meyers, Jesse Scott Eldridge, and R.D. and Colleen Carr Eldridge, all of Dayton; a granddaughter, Carrie Rebecca Eldridge, Dayton; several nieces and nephews; and friends, especially the children of Benton and Emily Nolen Franklin.

Shanna Diane Gunter
Funeral services for Miss Shanna Diane Gunter, 19, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Gunter died Friday, June 28 at Livingston Regional Hospital as a result of a car accident. She was a student and a 2001 graduate of Livingston Academy. She loved to play the guitar and loved music.

Born March 29, 1983, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Charlie and Evelyn Gunter of Rickman.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her grandmothers, Ruth Gunter, Crawford, and Veachel Young, Rickman; a sister and brother-in-law, Mandy and Dusty Smith, Ft. Polk, LA; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers were Jim Young, Charles Young, Roger Young, Robert Young, David Young, and Eddie Gunter. Memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetic Association.

Roy "Grizz" Randall Martin
Funeral services for Mr. Roy "Grizz" Randall Martin, 50, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Chris Walker officiating. Burial was in Campground cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Martin died Saturday, June 29 at Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga. He was a residential Rehab Assistant Adapt at Plateau Mental Health.

Born May 14, 1952, in Cookeville, he was the son of Odis and Elise (Phillips) Martin of Monterey.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Martha "Marty" Martin, Dodson Branch; two stepdaughters, Ginger Springston, Cookeville, and Tammie Huff, Celina; a sister and brother-in-law, Shelia and Paul Walker, Monterey; a special aunt, Betty Roberts; a special uncle, Donnie Phillips; four nephews, Jason Rose, Martin Walker, Jason Walker, and Chris Walker; a niece, Amanda Charlton; four step children; and many friends and relatives.

Ona Richardson
Funeral services for Mrs. Ona Richardson, 85, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. John Copeland and Bro. Travis Simpson officiating. Burial was in Bethsadia cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Richardson died Saturday, June 22 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired factory worker with the Chrysler Corp. in Detroit, MI, and of the Baptist faith.

Born January 31, 1917, in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Ringley) Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Newberry, Maudie Hull, and Bonza Daffron; and a brother, Verdie Richardson.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Travis Simpson, Livingston; a sister, Lois Parsons, Monroe; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Jamie Ledford, Josh Simpson, Kelly Hull, David Davis, Jerry Choate, and Steve Myer.

Veechel (Thompson) Stringfellow
Funeral services for Mrs. Veechel (Thompson) Stringfellow, of McClean, VA, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, from the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor R. Eugene Larkin officiating. Burial was in National Memorial Park cemetery in Falls Church, VA, with Murphy Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Stringfellow died Saturday, June 8 after a two-year struggle with cancer. She was a member of Charles Wesley United Methodist Church of McClean. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Anna Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman Thompson and Clifton Thompson.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Stringfellow, McClean; a son, Jeff Stringfellow; two daughters, Lisa and Stacy; seven sisters, Bessie Smith, Cookeville, Zilpha Barlow, Algood, Mary Lou Kottong, Indian Mound, Ruby Smith, Rickman, Villa Maxwell and Norma Jean Smith, both of Hilham, and Marcella Lancaster, Livingston; a brother, Freeman Thompson, Livingston; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Kaylee.

Dennis Vaughn
Funeral services for Mr. Dennis Vaughn, 76, of Love Joy Community near Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Clayton Padgett and Rev. David Harris officiating. Burial was in Wilson cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Vaughn died Saturday, June 29 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired coal miner and worked in Reeds Pallet Mill in Hanging Limb.

Born February 9, 1926, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Charlie P. and Dona (Roberts) Vaughn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rinda Murphy; a brother, Joe Vaughn; and a grandson, Tyler Sampley.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Phillips) Vaughn, Love Joy Community; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean and Charles Freeman, Love Joy Community, and Sandy and Norman Sampley, Monterey; father-in-law, Harson Phillips, Monterery; and six grandchildren, Rebekkah, Rachel, Seth, Caleb, Caitlin, and Bethany.

Clara D. McDonald
Funeral services for Miss Clara D. McDonald, 90, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Dr. David Moore and Rev. Dee Ledford officiating. Burial was in Clayton Smith cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Miss McDonald, a retired librarian from Berea College in Berea, KY, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 17, 1909, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Myrtle McDonald.

She was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian in Alpine. Other memberships included the DAR Womens Club and the Senior Citizens, both in Berea, KY.

Survivors include a sister, Leona Averitt, Livingston; a niece, Peggy Averitt, Knoxville; a nephew, Ricky Averitt, Livingston; and a great niece, Bethany Endicott, Vail, CO.

John Butler Jackson
Graveside services for Mr. John Butler Jackson, 83, of Allons, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, from Fellowship cemetery with Marlon Winningham officiating. Upton Funeral Home of Celina was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Jackson, a farmer, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Overton County Nursing Home.

Born June 11, 1917, in Allons, he was the son of the late James "Jim" and Sally (Worley) Jackson. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a sister, Sarah (Jackson) Kyle, Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Nannie Leonna (Holt) Lee
Funeral services for Mrs. Nannie Leonna (Holt) Lee, 89, of Pall Mall, were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2000, at the Bloomington Christian Church in Byrdstown with Bros. Gary Pruitt, Ricky Cross and Randy Tompkins officiating. Burial was in Lovelady cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Lee, a factory worker and homemaker, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born January 7, 1911, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Benton and Melia (Sells) Holt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest "Cooney" Lee; a son, Ernest Paul Lee; a sister, Cassie Winningham; a brother, Chester Holt; and two grandchildren. She wa a member of Bloomington Christian Church in Byrdstown.

Survivors include five daughters, Betty Mills, Knoxville, Kathleen Reynolds, Jamestown, Bloss Mitchell, Byrdstown, Carolyn Coffee, Rickman, and Joyce Fryar, Pall Mall; seven sons, Preston Lee, Jamestown, Benton Lee, Byrdstown, Thurston Lee, Crossville, Jim Lee, Lebanon, Pete Lee, Homer Lee, and George Lee, all of Pall Mall; two sisters, Pearl Cope and Clio Groce, both of Byrdstown; a brother, Roy Holt, New Castle, IN; 29 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Andy Lee, William Fryar, Ronnie Lee, Timmy Guffey, Stephen Lee, James Mitchell, Jerry Mitchell, and Roger Lee.

Honorary pallbearers were Douglas Sells, David Sells, Ernie Guffey, Kevin Lee, Ronnie Lee, Robert Mills Jr, Ricky Lee, Rodney Lee, and Robert Lee.
