Dimple Bilyeu Carter
Funeral services for Mrs. Dimple Bilyeu Carter, 80, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Burial was in Algood City cemetery with Dyer Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Carter died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at NCH of Cookeville. She retired from a 50-year nursing career in November 2000 from the Overton County Nursing Home and was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville.

Born June 14, 1920, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of the late Perry D. and Rhonda (Weeks) Bilyeu. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clarence Carter; her step-mother, Julia Bilyeu; and three sisters, Willie Rice, Lorell Peppers and Pauline Warren.

Survivors include a brother, Bill Bilyeu, Cookeville; a sister, Polly Hatch, Jackson; two nieces, Cindy Wilmouth and Perri Elkins; three nephews, Pat Warren, Jim Warren, and Mickey Bilyeu; a special and devoted friend, Debbie Jones, along with friends Pat Eldridge, Lorraine Ewers, and Trish Bement.

Pallbearers were Bruce Jones, Travis Jones, Jeremy Elkins, Mickey Bilyeu, Michael Bilyeu, James Cumby and Eric Clark. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Dr. Kenny Lynn, Mark Allison, and Mark Hill.

Beatrice W. Burgess
Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice W. Burgess, 82, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Glen McDoniel and Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Burial was in the Judd cemetery in Putnam County with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Burgess died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired General Motors factory worker and a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.

Born August 3, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Tina Sells. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Horn; and a son Tommy Horn.

Survivors include her husband, Haskell D. Burgess, Cookeville; a daughter, Carol Wyland, Eaton, OH; two step-daughters, Shirley Carter and Pasty Cronk, both of Cookeville; a step-son, Charles Burgess, Cookeville; a sister, Alice Carmel Norris, Livingston; two brothers, Hershell P. Sells, Crossville, and Arthur E. "Bud" Sells, Monroe; two grandsons, Tommy Horn Jr. and Dennis Wyland Jr.; two granddaughters, Tracie DeMarco and Kerrie Laramore; and five great grandchildren.

Lester Eugene "Gene" Bilbrey
Funeral services for Mr. Lester Eugene 'Gene' Bilbrey, 50, of Jamestown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001, from Allardt First Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Stoner officiating. Burial was in the Fentress Memory Gardens in Fentress County with Jennings Funeral Home of Jamestown in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bilbrey died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. He was a support manager for the Jamestown Wal-Mart for 12 years, a Fentress County school bus driver for 8 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Allardt. Born October 24, 1950, in Overton County, he was the son of Rue and Lucille (Greer) Bilbrey of Livingston.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Judy Bilbrey, Jamestown; two sons, William Bilbrey and Wesley Bilbrey, both of Jamestown; a mother-in-law, Ada Williams, Jamestown; and a brother, Jerry Bilbrey, Livingston. Pallbearers were Don Williams, Dan Young, Donald Mullins, Donald Frasier, Gary Williams, and Danny Williams.

Rosie (Loftis) Barnes
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosie (Loftis) Barnes, 95, of Gallatin and formerly of Jackson County, were conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin with Pastor James Bell officiating. Prayer services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at New Hope Community Church in Jackson County with Bro. Phillip Morgan officiating. Burial was in New Hope cemetery in the New Hope Community of Jackson County with Anderson Funeral Home of Gainesboro in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Barnes died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Gallatin.

Born June 24, 1905, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Mary (Cooper) Loftis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman D. Barnes; two sons, Estel Barnes and Elmer B. Barnes; four sisters, Modella Masters, Altie Masters, Myrtie Masters, and Della Ramsey; and a half-sister, Ellie Carr.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Robert Carmack, Gallatin, Estelene and Teet Netherton, Gainesboro, and Mary and Aaron Jones, Mount Juliet; a daughter-in-law, Treva Barnes, Rock Island; eight grandchildren, Dan Carmack, Gallatin, Margaret Branam, Franklin, Andy Netherton and Shannon Key, both of Gainesboro, Tammy Haskins, Lebanon, Carl Barnes, Georgia, Carole Barnes, Antioch, and Sandra Keopf, Old Hickory; and 10 great grandchildren.

Isaiah Alton Bain
Funeral services for Master Isaiah Alton Bain, infant, of Algood, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Mitchum officiating. Burial was in the Martin cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Master Bain died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born Friday, April 13, 2001, he was the son of Jeffrey Allen and Delia Suzanne (Reeder) Bain of Algood. He was preceded in death by two great grandparents, Betty Jane St. Clair and Delia Jewell (Clark) Reeder. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include grandparents, Jerry H. and Cynthia L. (St. Clair) Reeder, Algood, and James Alton and Mabel Bain, Jackson County; great grandparents, Reba Lawson, Jackson County, and Harold R. St. Clair, Galion, OH; an aunt and uncle, Karrie L. Reeder and Brandon Johnson, both of Livingston; and a cousin, Vallie Johnson, Livingston.

Luther Paul Christian
Funeral services for Mr. Luther Paul Christian, 83, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. L.D. Anderson officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Christian, an employee of Akron Pure Milk company, died Wednesday, September 6, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born February 2, 1917, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Edd and Elvie Ogletree Christian.

He was affiliated with Samaria Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Lona Christian, Cookeville; two sons, Jerry Christian, Hanes City, FL, and James Christian, Dandridge; two daughters, Judy Jared and M. Kathryn Abbott, both of Akron, OH; two brothers, Carl Christian, Detroit, MI, and George Christian, Livingston; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Kendrick D. "Pop" Gilliam
Funeral services for Mr. Kedrick D. "Pop" Gilliam, 83, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2000, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Gilliam, a retired meat cutter, died Monday, September 4, 2000, at his home.

Born January 18, 1917, in Wise, VA, he was the son of the late Arch and Dolly (Stallard) Gilliam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Gerber; a sister, Beulah Gilliam; two brothers, Kyle Gilliam and Hoover Gilliam; and a great granddaughter, Randi Sue.

He attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Algood and was a member of a Baptist church in Virginia, a Masonic lodge member, and past director of the Overton County Rescue Squad. After retiring from Standard Grocery in Indianapolis, IN, he worked part-time for Jerry's IGA.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma V. (Potter) Gilliam, Livingston; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Carol and Jim Tisdal, Cookeville, Mary and Bob Brown, Livingston, and Sandy and Ron Puschnig, Monroe; three sisters, Ruth Hollyfield, Noblesville, IN, Clara Hubbard, Wise, VA, and Myrtle Connell, Church Hill; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Randy Gerber, Greg Gerber, Scott Brown, Wally Gerber, Paul Tisdal, Danny Gean, Denny Gentry, Brad Palk, and Darrell Tucker.

Clifford Lee Boles
Funeral services for Mr. Clifford Lee Boles, 63, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home of Celina. Burial was in the Turkey Town cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Boles, a truck driver and mechanic for Garrett Bro. Concrete, died Monday, September 4, 2000, at Cumberland River Hospital North in Celina.

Born March 9, 1937, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Comer Boles and Ella Short. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Doyle Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Elise Boles, Hilham; a son, David Boles, Hilham; a step-son, Richard Cox, Gainesboro; a step-daughter, Betty Short, Hilham; two brothers, Archie Boles and Chester Boles, both of Hilham; two sisters, Evelyn Geneva Edwards, Livingston, and Beulah Lee, Hilham; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Harlin H. Hylton
Funeral services for Mr. Harlin H. Hylton, 85, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2000, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home of Gainesboro with Bro. Edward L. Todd officiating. Burial with military honors was in the McDonald cemetery in the Baptist Ridge Community of Clay County with Anderson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hylton, a retired construction worker, died Wednesday, September 6, 2000, at Cumberland River Hospital North in Celina.

Born October 20, 1914, in Carter County, KY, he was the son of the late Morton and Minnie McDavid Hylton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Hylton; a grandson, Jeffrey W. Anderson; a step-son, Earnest D. Goolsby; and a son-in-law, Bill Richmond.

He was a member of Hilham Church of God, a Mason, and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Hylton, Hilham; a daughter, Sarah Jo Richmond, Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Raymond Hylton, Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Virginia Cooper, San Antonio, TX, and Christine Popizon, Florida; two step-sons, Herman Lee Goolsby, Hilham, and Bruce Barnes, Gosport, IN; two step-daughters, Bonnie Jean Alley, Franklin, IN, and Dian Anderson, Celina; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Aanna Casander Bilyeu
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Casander Bilyeu, 80, of Cookeville, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 13, 2000, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Terry Geren officiating. Burial will be in the Cookeville City cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bilyeu, retired from the Putnam County School System, died Monday, September 11, 2000, at her home.

Born May 22, 1920, in Byrdstown, she was the daughter of the late Walter Maldon and Marzettie Lee (Cross) Sims. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bilyeu, and a brother, Doyle Sims.

She was a member of the Wilhite Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Doris Bilyeu, Cookeville; four daughters and sons-in-law, Russ and Jo Ann Steel, Betty Sue and Roger Holloway, and Linda and Mike Williams, all of Cookeville, and Carol and Kelly Wasmund, Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Jenny Fair, Murray, KY, and Ioline Ford, Monroe; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Glen Edward Paul
Funeral services for Mr. Glen Edward Paul, 45, of Monroe, were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Nolan Cantrell and Rev. Austin Flowers officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Paul, a truck driver for Martin Lumber Co., died Tuesday, October 26, 1999, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.

Born July 22, 1954, in Putnam County, he was the son of Magdalene Stover Paul of Alpine and the late Homer Paul.

He was a member of Oak Dale Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Mary 'Frannie' Paul, Monroe; two daughters, Maranda McGinnis, Cookeville, and April Paul, Monroe; seven brothers, Mark Paul, Hilham, Johnny Paul, Cookeville, Tommy Paul, Smyrna, Ray Paul, Tullahoma, Robert Paul, Allons, Jim Paul, Knoxville, and Clifford Paul, Alpine; three sisters, Charlene Collins, Alpine, Shirley Paul, Cookeville, and Carol Ayers, Wyoming.

John Paul Long
Funeral services for Mr. John Paul Long, 71, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Bennie Sells officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Long, a research and development worker in the Bremer Division of Ralston Purina Foods, died Monday, October 25, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 10, 1927, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late William O. and Gladys Marie Weaver Long.

He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, University Baptist Church in Coral Gables, FL, American Legion, and V.F.W. and a veteran of the U.S. Marines.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Long, Hilham; a son, Gary Paul Long, Florida; a daughter, Gail Ann Belshoff, Springfield, MO; two step-sons, Duane McAllister, Hilham, and Daryl McAllister, Livingston; a step-daughter, Darci Kesty, Livingston; four grandchildren, Christopher Paul Long, Kyle Edward Long, Eric Richard Belshoff, and Lucas Benjamin Belshoff; and four step-grandchildren, Cory Allen Kesty, Karen Adele Kesty, Jessika Ann McAllister, and Kassity Dawn McAllister.

Pallbearers were members of the V.F.W.

JAMES M. CLARK JR.
Funeral services for Mr. James M. Clark Jr., 77, of Columbia, and formerly of Clarksville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2000, from Neal-Tarpley Funeral Chapel with Dr. Allan Shields and Rev. Clark Albright officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery with Neal-Tarpley Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Clark, a self-employed salesman, died Wednesday, November 15, 2000, at his home.

Born March 23, 1923, in Bumpus Mills, he was the son of the late James M. and Susie Wallace Clark. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having been a prisoner of war and recipient of the Purple Heart, and a member of Bumpus Mills Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Speck Clark, Columbia; a daughter, Sue Clark Albright, Columbia; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Albright, Phyllis Albright, Clark Albright, Marcus Albright, Willard Beaver Jr., and Tripp Beaver.
