Funeral services for Mr. Donny B. Huckeby, 50, of Monroe were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, 1999, at Beaty Swamp Community Church with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Graveside and military services were provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5062 at Booher cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Huckeby, a construction worker, died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Pickett County Nursing Home in Byrdstown.
Born July 24, 1948, in Overton County, he was the son of Roy Huckeby Jr. and Wilma (Booher)
Huckeby of Monroe.
He was a member of Beaty Swamp Community Church and a veteran.
Survivors in addition to his parents include two sisters, Linda Gore, Powder Springs, GA, and Janet Huckeby, Nashville; four brothers, Benny Huckeby, Bobby Huckeby, Mickey Huckeby, and Roger Huckeby, all of Monroe; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers were Ray Huckeby, Johnny Huckeby, Clinton Guffey, Rick Gunter, Gary Young, and Henderson Young.
Jack Conner
Funeral services for Mr. Jack Conner, 55, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Harris officiating. Burial was in Martin cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Conner, a farmer and logger, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Centennial Medical Center.
Born July 9, 1944, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Veachel and Hattie Waddle Conner.
He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Conner, Allons; three sons, David Conner, Shannon Conner, and Mark Conner, all of Allons; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Doug Reagan, Allons; and three sisters, Jean Hensley and Louise Sells Davis, both of Allons, and Judy Harris, Livingston.
Pallbearers were Truman Brown, Arcy Mitchell, Travis Puckett, Billy Joe Sells, David Thrasher, Jack Reagan, Ronnie Smith, and Frankie Poindexter.
Eva Bowman Funeral
S ervices for Mrs. Eva Bowman, 85, of Crossville and formerly of Allred/Steel Bridge Community of Overton County, were conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, July 23, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Turner officiating. An Eastern Star service was held at the chapel of Speck Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 22. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bowman, a retired, teacher, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Country Place Health Care Center in Crossville.
Born December 31, 1913 in Badaxe, MI, she was the daughter of William H. MacGillivary and Ella Kreutziger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bowman.
She was a member of the Livingston Eastern Star Chapter #206.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rob Bowman and Nancy Bowman, Fairfield Glade, and Donald Bowman and Betty Bowman, Memphis; five grandchildren, Sharon Voehringer, William Bowman, Elizabeth Bowman, Fred Bowman, and Martha Bowman, all of Memphis.
Arthur K. Copeland
Funeral services for Mr. Arthur K. Copeland, 84, of Crawford, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Honey Springs cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Copeland, a retired coal miner, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Fentress County Nursing Home.
Born July 1, 1915, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Albert and Maggie Winningham Copeland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a brother, William Edgar Copeland, Livingston; a sister, Geraldine Johnson, Dayton, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were George Sells, Mike Allred, James Leslie, Randy Copeland, Joe Copeland, and Derrick Copeland.

Services for Mr. James (Jim) Elkins, 64, of Gainesboro, were conducted at 1 p.m., today, Wednesday, August 4, 1999, in the John L. Clark cemetery in the Stone Community of Jackson County with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating and Anderson Funeral Home in Gainesboro in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Elkins, a retired brick and block mason, died Sunday, August 1, 1999, at Cumberland River Hospital North in Celina.
Born March 6, 1935, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Zeb and Anna Lee Smith Elkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Elkins, Gainesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Paul Fisher, Hartsville, and Lesa and Gary Stafford, Red Boiling Springs; a brother Jackie Elkins, Mount Juliet; two sisters, Virginia Carter, Smyrna, and Gayle Cox, Livingston; three grandsons, Matthew Stafford, Cody Stafford, and Jamie Stafford, all of Red Boiling Springs; and two step-granddaughters, Heather Fisher, and Whitney Fisher, both of Hendersonville.
Albert F. Crisp
Graveside services with full military honors for Mr. Albert F. Crisp, 75, of Southlake, TX, were conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, September 13, 1999, from Paron cemetery with Bro. Mike Adams and Bro. J.D. Wade officiating. Whitson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Crisp, a retired Air Force veteran and retail food service employee, died Tuesday, September 7, 1999, in Grapevine, TX.
He was born August 31, 1924, in Boston, MA.
He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Texas and served in Army Air Corp during World War II and the Air Force in the Korean War as a gunner and boom operator. He flew a number of missions and was a highly decorated veteran with numerous commendations for outstanding service to his country including one from JFK.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Kimes) Crisp, Southlake, TX; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sue Crisp, Houston, TX; a daughter, Cindy Bonarati, Texas; a brother, Richard Crisp, Mansfield, MA; a sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Johnny Visconti, Boston, MA; a granddaughter, Melissa Crisp, Houston, TX; two grandsons, Paul Crisp, Houston, TX, and Jim Lyons, Detroit, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jewel (Ruble) Denton
Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel 'Ruble' Denton, 68, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 1999, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Ron Harris officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Denton, a homemaker, died Thursday, October 7, 1999, at her residence.
Born February 21, 1931, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Prilla (Copeland) Ruble. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Denton; and three brothers, Kenneth Ruble, Royce Ruble, and Truman Ruble.
She was a member of Evangelist Baptist Church in Melvindale, MI.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Al Leija and Shelia and Gary Smith, all of Taylor, MI, and Angela and Donnie Ray, Allons; three sisters, Kedna Jones, Livingston, Callie Bowman, Gainesboro, and Emily Ferrill, Anderson; a brother, Rex Ruble, Allons; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robert Mick, Chris Ray, Gary Jones, Jason Smith, Roger Mick, and Steve Leija. Honorary pallbearers were Josh Smith, Rick Leija, Adam Leija, Jay Melton, and Matt Smith.
Bobbie Gene Claborn Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Bobbie Gene Claborn Sr., 67, of Apache, OK, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 1999, from Comanche Community Tribal Center in Apache, OK, with Rev. Shane Hall of First Christian Church in Apache, OK, officiating. Burial was in Apache's Fairview cemetery.
Mr. Claborn, former owner and operator of Claborn Trucking, Bob's Wrecker Service and Bob's Place Cafe, died Saturday, September 25, 1999.
Born September 12, 1932, in Cement, OK, he was the son of the late Robert T. Claborn.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during the Korean War, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War, and a member of Oklahoma Wrecker Owners Association.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ogletree, Apache, OK, and formerly of Overton County; a son, Bobbie Gene Claborn Jr., Apache, OK; three brothers, Billy Claborn and Marion Claborn, both of Apache, OK, and Andy Claborn, Hardesty, OK; three sisters, Mary Joyce Swanda and Babara Claborn, both of Apache, and Virginia Brush, Fort Vista, NM; and a child they raised, Russell Carson, Apache, OK.
Bessie Lowe
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Lowe, 92, of Jamestown, were conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 13, 1999, from the chapel of Mundy Funeral Home in Jamestown with Bro. Chester Rhoad officiating. Burial was in Livingston cemetery in Jamestown with Mundy Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Lowe died Sunday, October 10, 1999, at Fentress County General Hospital.
Born May 5, 1907, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Mollie Kennedy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denton Lowe; a son, Edward Lowe; and a daughter, Ethel Dishman.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons, Earl Lowe and Roy Lowe, both of Jamestown, Eugene Lowe, Monroe, and Robert Lowe, Livingston; four daughters, Bonnie Beard, Christine Rhum, and Maxine Wright, all of Muncie, IN, and Wilma Allred, Losantville, IN; 35 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jerry Allred, Harvey Wright, Denton Lowe, David Lowe, Michael Lowe, Roger Hammonds, Larry Lowe, and Boyd Lowe.
Zora May Reid

Mrs. Reid, a homemaker, died Wednesday, October 13, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 24, 1907, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Asberry and Mary Elizabeth (Polly) Johnson Loftis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Estel Reid; one infant daughter; and three brothers, Esker Loftis, Eurell Loftis, and Carl Loftis.
She was a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beryl and Ted Matthews, Cookeville; a sister, Irene Grubb, Kettering, OH; two brothers, Walton Loftis, Hilham, and Odell Loftis, Kettering, OH; two step-grandchildren, Vonda Bumpus, Pleasant View, and Amy Skeith, Alberta, Canada; and four great-grandchildren.
James H. Dickson

Mr. Dickson died Wednesday, October 13, 1999, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
Born August 21, 1953,in Overton County, he was the son of Jim Dickson and the late Anna (Copeland) Dickson.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary Dickson, Rickman; a son, Adam Dickson, Rickman; a daughter, Jennifer Halcomb, Rickman; his father, Jim Dickson, Livingston; four brothers, M.J. Dickson, Algood, Edd Dickson, Rickman, Mike Dickson, Indianapolis, IN, and Gary Dickson, Cookeville; and two grandchildren, Natasha Halcomb and Brandi Halcomb both of Rickman.s

Born October 13, 1931, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late George and Ann (Tayse) Day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Ray Nivens and Danny William Nivens; two brothers, Harlan Day and Raymond Day.
She was a member of Ruth's Chapel Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, J.P. Nivens, Livingston; a daughter, Gail Stover, Livingston; three sons, Tracy Wayne Nivens and David Ronald Nivens, both of Hilham, and Jerry Michael Nivens, Livingston; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
