Isiah Slton Bain
Funeral services for Master Isiah Alton Bain, infant, of Algood, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Mitchum officiating. Burial was in the Martin cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Master Bain died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born Friday, April 13, 2001, he was the son of Jefferey Allen and Deliz Suzanne (Reeder) Bain of Algood.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include grandparents, Jerry H. and Cynthia L. (St. Clair) Reeder, Algood, and James Alton and Mabel Bain, Jackson County; great grandmother, Reba Lawson, Jackson County; aunt and uncle, Carrie L. Reeder and Brandon Johnson, both of Livingston; and a cousin, Vallie Johnson, Livingston.

Carl Edward Whited
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Edward Whited, 88, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Harris officiating. Burial was in the Whited cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Whited died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and machinist, of the Baptist faith, and a member of the Eagle Creek Lodge.

Born November 24, 1912, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Gipson and Mary K. (Garrett) Whited. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Thelma (Hopkins) Whited.

Survivors include a son, Donnie Whited, Livingston; seven grandchildren, Jason Whited, Jennifer Bond, and April Whited, all of Livingston, Charles Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Billie Griffith, and Wanda Walker; and several great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Darrell Denny, Marvin Whited, Phillip Clay, Jason Whited, J.C. Roysden, and Patrick Whited. Serving as honorary pallbearers were M.J. Robbins and Carl J. Whited.

Virgil Hollis West
Funeral services for Mr. Virgil Hollis West, 79, of Algood, will be conducted at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 18, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Elmer McCowan officiating. Burial will be in the Algood cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. West died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Masters Health Care Center in Algood. He was a retired mechanic and of the Baptist faith.

Born September 8, 1921, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mattie L. (Neal) West. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Zula Myrtle (Tayse) West; and a daughter, Joyce Marie Robichaud.

Survivors include two sons, William Hollis West and Ricky West, both of Algood; a daughter, Jewell George, Duck River; six grandchildren, Krystal Robichaud, Scott West, Mark West, Tonya George McVey, Steven George, and Tara George; and nine great grandchildren, Abby West, Lacie West, Tyler West, Taylor West, Chrysten McVey, Courtney McVey, Ryan McVey, Alexandria George and Blake George. Pallbearers were Scott West, Steven George, Mike Robichaud, and Mark West.

Willie Homer Glasscock
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Homer Glasscock, 95, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Geren officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Glasscock died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a factory worker for Goodyear Tire in Akron, OH, and a member of Allons Baptist Church.

Born January 12, 1906, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Nova Adell (Maynord) Glasscock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Helen (Johnson) Glasscock; a son, Charles Glasscock; two sisters, Dessie Reece and Ezma Chilton; and four brothers, Leslie Glasscock, Howard Glasscock, Onzie Glasscock, and John Casper Glasscock.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan Achor, Huntington Beach, CA; a brother, Paul Glasscock, Allons; a sister, Myrtle Waites, Livingston; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Scott Norris, Jack Glascock, Jerry Glasscock, Kent Hayes, Randy Glasscock, and Roger Leisure.

Gerald G. Miller
Funeral services for Mr. Gerald G. Miller, 44, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Steele officiating. Burial was in the Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Miller died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a Tech. Engineer with the Tennessee Department of Transporation and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Born October 29, 1956, in Overton County, he was the son of Bobby and Beulah (Linder) Miller of Livingston. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ura Miller; a grandfather, Elmer Linder; and an infant brother.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Lisa (Greenwood) Miller, Livingston; a grandmother, Effie Linder, Alpine; and two daughters, Emily Blake Miller and Erica Brooke Miller, both of Livingston. Pallbearers were Barry Johnson, Bob Buford, Roger Smith, Terry Coffman, Kelly Hill, and Butch Sells. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Les Reeder, Johnny Cyrus, Gary Huff, and Brett Linder.

Shirley F. Qualls
Funeral services for Mr. Shirley F. Qualls, 77, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating. Burial was in the Old Union cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Qualls died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired Cherokee Furniture factory worker and a member of the Popular Springs Baptist Church.

Born September 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Braskey and Sarah (Hicks) Qualls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert Qualls, Lester Qualls, and Bobby Qualls; and a sister, Hessie Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Faye (Hutchinson) Qualls, Hilham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cathy Qualls, Brighton, MI, and Gary and Melinda Qualls, Hilham; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dewell Carr, Livingston;a step-daughter, Sarah Sue Gore, Livingston; a brother, Billy Qualls, Cookeville; three sisters, Pauline Forbes, Bullhead City, AZ, Evelyn Conley, Beavercreek, OH, and Lucille Clouse, Cookeville; and three grandchildren, Nathan Qualls, Andy Qualls, and Sarah Emily Carr.

Pallbearers were Pete Story, Larry Winningham, Chris Hammock, Hershel Taylor, Johnny Feaster, and Raymond Bowman.

Paulene Harvey
Funeral services for Mrs. Paulene Harvey, 91, of Watertown, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Burial was in Jennings cemetery in Watertown with Hunter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Harvey died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Quality Care Nursing Home in Lebanon. She was a retired shirt factory worker and a member of Statesville Methodist Church.

Born May 3, 1909, in Watertown, she was the daughter of the late Newbern and Sarah (Granstaff) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Harvey Sr.

Survivors include four sons, Carl Harvey Jr., Murfreesboro, Howell Harvey, Waverly, Forrest Harvey, Baton Rouge, LA, and David Harvey, Lebanon; and a newphew, Rev. Newsome Harvey, Livingston.

Paul E. Taylor
Funeral services for Mr. Paul E. Taylor, 80, of Monroe, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Vernon Harris officiating. Burial was in Old Bethel cemetery with graveside military rites provided by the Honor Guard of the James T. Davis Memorial Post 5062 VFW. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Taylor died Saturday, Feb. 16 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in the Philippines, and a member of Free Communion Church of Christ.

Born November 12, 1921, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Hobert and Bessie (Harvey) Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Curtis Taylor, Herbert Taylor, Belvie Taylor, and J.L. Taylor; and a sister, Bertha Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Ramsey) Taylor, Monroe, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Phillip Clouse, Monroe; five sisters, Laura Richardson, Anderson, IN, Mildred Duke, Old Hickory, Martha Boswell, Livingston, and Irene Taylor and Mary Duke, both of Monroe; four grandchildren, Teresa Redden, Dickson, Amy Conner, Monroe, David Clouse, Monroe, and James Clouse, Monroe; two grandsons-in-law, David Redden and Tony Conner; a granddaughter-in-law, Amy (Rhoton) Clouse; five great grandchildren, Andrew Redden, Jacob Redden, and Lucas Redden, all of Dickson, and Allie Clouse and Mason Clouse, both of Monroe. Pallbearers were Jack Kirby, Mark Garrett, Roger Harvey, Steve Sebers, Gary Dipaola, Barry Sells, David Garrett, and Larry Harvey.

Byron William Allen
Private memorial services for Mr. Byron William Allen, 80, of Livingston, were conducted Saturday, Feb. 16 with Pastor Craig Green officiating. At the request of Mr. Allen, cremation was performed, with his ashes being scattered on Dale Hollow Lake in the Willow Grove area.

Mr. Allen died Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Livingston Regional Hospital after an extended illness with leukemia. He was a business manager with Allen and Son Iron Works in California, prior to being a realtor and working as a volunteer for the Holiday Bureau repairing toys for the annual distribution to needy children in East Tennessee. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Livingston and enjoyed his work in "rock" ministry, painting Jesus on small river stones that he gave away. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II.

Born August 24, 1921, in San Bernadino, CA, he was the son of the late William and Dee Garner Allen. Survivors include his wife Jodi Cates Allen, Livingston; four step-sons, Dr. Jamie Cates and Dino Cates, both of Allons, Michael Cates, Hubbardstown, MA, and Chris Cates, San Clemente, CA; 11 grandchildren; a niece, Sandra Hodge, Virginia; and a nephew, Curtis Allen, Redlands, CA. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Paskle Davis
Graveside services for Mr. James Paskle Davis, 74, of Algood, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Emberton cemetery with Rev. Lester Flatt officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Davis died Saturday, Feb. 16 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a factory worker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Born May 18, 1927, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Palo and Mary (Phillips) Davis.

Survivors include a daughter, Anna Payne, Cookeville; four brothers, Tom Davis, Charlie Davis, and Walter Davis, all of Livingston, and Willie Davis, Shelbyville; three sisters, Estelle Garrett, Rickman, Kate Davis, Cookeville, and Mary Jane Eldridge, Monterey; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

William Glenn Dodson
Funeral services for Mr. William Glenn Dodson, 80, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Coil officiating. Burial was in Fisk cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Honor Guard of the James T. Davis Memorial Post 5062 of the VFW with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Dodson died Friday, Feb. 15 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired clerk, an Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW in Livingston, and a member of the Livingston Church of Christ.

Born July 6, 1921, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Henry Edgar and Daisy Mona (Brown) Dodson.

Survivors include his wife, Christene (Upchurch) Dodson, Livingston; two daughters, Peggy Brown, Livingston, and Deborah Knight, Decherd; a brother, Ensley Dodson, Livingston; a sister, Winnie Laycock, Rickman; a grandson; and two granddaughters.

Lilburn A. "Lib" Gore
Funeral services for Mr. Lilburn A. "Lib' Gore, 78, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Edward Todd and Bro. Tom Greenwood officiating. Burial was in Old Union cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Gore died Sunday, Feb. 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a grading contractor in the construction business and a county commissioner from 1972 to 1998. He was affiliated with Old Union Church.

Born August 22, 1923, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Monroe and Velma (Franklin) Gore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lena (Gore) Carmack Halcomb; two nephews, Louie Gore and Jeff Greenwood; and a niece, Sherry (Gore) Lainhart.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Gore, Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Linda Gore, Powder Springs, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Donald Huff, Cookeville, and Libby and Jimmy Lee, Livingston; two brothers and a sister-in-law, J.D. and Sue (Hollars) Gore, Springboro, OH, and Arnold Buford Gore, Livingston; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Gladys Davis, Helen and Frank McIlvain, and Judy and Tom Greenwood, all of Livingston; and eight grandchildren, Jeff Gore, Christy Gore, Sherry Thrasher, Griffin Lee, Ivy Lee, Dana Strong, Tonya Huff, and Donnie Huff.

Pallbearers were Rick Sells, Steve Greenwood, Michael Eldridge, Benny Davis, Butch Carmack, and David Webb.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were John Webb, Glen Webb, Carl Webb, Harrison Eldridge, Harold Eldridge, Mark Eldridge, Matt Eldridge, Frank McIlvain, Tom Greenwood, Mark Greenwood, Bobby Buford, Chig Parrott, Ray Austin, Danny Davis, Timmy Halcomb, Brian Taylor, Mark Gore, E.G. Gore, and all county court members who served from 1972 to 1998.

Clella Edna Ramsey
Funeral services for Mrs. Clella Edna Ramsey, 82, of the Independence Community, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, from the chapel of the Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Harris and Rev. Dewitt Sampley officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ramsey died Friday, Feb. 15 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a housewife and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Oakley.

Born July 25, 1919, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Nelson and Amy Earl (Dennis) Coleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Alphonso Coleman, Claude Coleman, Lloyd Coleman, and Lester Coleman; a sister, Lena Mae Green; and a son, James "Big Jim" Ramsey.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Ramsey, Livingston; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Carolyn Ramsey, Farmington, MI, and Larry and Jackie Ramsey, Birmingham, AL; a daughter, Vicki Ramsey, Cookeville; two sisters, Odessia Norrod, Livingston, and Naomi Gunnels, Akron, OH; and four grandchildren, Andrew B. Ramsey, Lauren Kelsie Ramsey, John Cody Ramsey, and J.R. Kinnard III.

Pallbearers were Marvin Norrod, Melvin Norrod, Andrew Ramsey, J.R. Kinnard, Bruce Little, Royce Hummel, Wayne Ramsey, and Gilbert Little.
