Randall James Key
Funeral services for Mr. Randall James Key, 69, of Celina, were conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, August 2, 1999, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Bill Coe officiating. Burial was in Fitzgerald cemetery with Upton Funeral Home of Celina in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Key, a construction worker for Oman Construction Co., died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born November 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Andrew Key and Maggie Blye Key. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Key.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, James Key, Celina, and Roy Key, Moss; a brother, Raymond Key, Celina; three half-brothers, Robert Key, Allons, Jerry Key, Moss, and Tommy Key, Indianapolis, IN; three sisters, Mable Tidwell, Hilham, Darlene Miller, Muncie, IN, and Minnie Nicholson, Watson, OK; four half-sisters, Jean Reagan, Sue Vaughn, Christine Reagan, and Barbara Stephens, all of Allons; and four grandchildren.

Reba Claudine Key
Funeral services for Mrs. Reba Claudine Key, 57, of Celina, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Lou Paradiso officiating. Burial was in Bethel cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Key, a factory worker, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born April 28, 1942, in Livingston, she was the daughter of the late John Haiford Ledbetter and Flora Elizabeth Ray Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carvel Ledbetter.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelia Key, Livingston; two brothers, David Ledbetter, Timothy, and Charles Ledbetter, Celina; and three sisters, Pauline Brown, Celina, Lynda Gray, Livingston, and Ruth Hunter, Akron, OH.

Wayne Stacy Matheney
Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Stacy Matheney, 56, of Cookeville, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 1999, from Brotherton Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Harold Walker and Bro. Raymond Peek officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Matheney, owner and operator of Matheney Electric, died Monday August 2, 1999, at his home.

Born June 25, 1943, he was the son of Joseph Basil Matheney and the late Elvada S. (Short) Matheney. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Joseph Matheney, and Michael Todd Matheney.

He was a member of Brotherton Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Beverly Joan (Keisling) Matheney, Cookeville; two daughters, Deborah Velez, North Manchester, IN, and Tina Scott, Anderson, IN; a step-daughter, Alison Marlow, Cookeville; a brother, Gerald Patrick Matheney, Garden Grove, CA; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bob Stafford, James Winters, and Sam Salvatore Petralia.

Justin Craig McDonald
Funeral services for Mr. Justin Craig McDonald, 36, of Monroe, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Aron Dillon officiating. Burial was in Sylvester Robbins cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arragements.

Mr. McDonald, a highway construction worker, died Thursday, July 26, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born July 11, 1963, in Overton County, he was the son of Justin McDonald of Monroe and the late Alice Sells McDonald White.

He was affiliated with Beaty Swamp Community Church.

Survivors in addition to his father include a son, Cristopher Craig McDonald, Cookeville; a daughter, Jessica McDonald, Monroe; his grandmothers, Deane McDonald and Effie Stover, both of Monroe; a great grandmother, Auda Cravens; five aunts, Nell Spivey, Sandra Smith, Tammy McDonald, Allie Clendenan, and Margie Peacy; an uncle, Eugene McDonald; five cousins, Crystal Spivey, Brian Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Tiffany McDonald, and Thomas McDonald; a host of family and friends; and a dear friend, Myra Burton, Livingston.

Pallbearers were David Clendenan, Ronald Looper, Troy Gore, Donnie Simpson, Donnie McDonald, and Keith Steele.

Culvert Reed
Funeral services for Mr. Culvert (Cub) Reed, 84, of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 1999, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Clayton Padgett and Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Hanging Limb cemetery with Goff Funeral Home of Monterey in charge of the arrangements

Mr. Reed, a saw mill owner and operator, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born April 15, 1915 in Overton County, he was the son of the late Brunton and Nellie Norrod Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Bowman Reed; a daughter, Delissa Reels; a son, Danny Reed; a sister, Mazelle Reed; and two brothers, Johnnie Reed and Willard Reed.

He was a member of Green Pond Masonic Lodge #701.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Alice Reed, Hanging Limb; two granddaughters, Robbye Reels, and Tammy Abston, both of Hanging Limb; four grandsons, Bill Reed, Bo Reed, Craig Reed, and Jody Reed, all of Hanging Limb; seven great grandchildren; and two brothers, L.B. Reed, and Buster Reed, both of Hanging Limb.

Pallbearers were Bill Reed, Bo Reed, Craig Reed, Jody Reed, Joe Abston, and Bobby Bowman.

Arvis Edward Seber
Funeral services for Mr. Arvis Edward 'Billy' Seber, 73, of Allons, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1999, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Terry McCloud officiating. Burial was in Hunter-Cove cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Seber, a truck driver, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at his residence.

Born August 25, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lewis Gordon and Eula 'Bilbrey' Seber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Josie Ray, Clydie Powell, and Beatrice Seber; a brother, Lewis Seber; and two infant daughters, Wanda Gewin Seber and Vonda Gail Seber.

He was a member of Allons Assembly of God, and was a veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Ima G. (Pardue) Seber, Allons; two daughters, Anetta Hargis, Rickman, and Aletha Fletcher, Livingston; two sons, Garry Seber, Livingston, and Jerry Seber, Allons; five sisters, Ila Dean Gaskin, Nashville, Hazel Richardson and Ima Jean Staggs, both of Allons, Dimple Driggers, Madison, FL, and Bonnie Lewis, Livingston; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dallas Ray, Alton Davis, David A. Pardue, Danny Pardue, Anthony White, and Stephen Smith.

Linda Faye Borden Vanpelt
Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Faye Borden VanPelt, 52, of Duncan, SC, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in Crestlawn cemetery in Cookeville.

Mrs. VanPelt, a retired elementary school teacher, died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born October 9, 1946, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Olyne Langford Borden of Allons and the late Edmond (Edd) Eugene Borden. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kennth Borden.

She was a member of Duncan Church of Christ.

Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, Joe VanPelt, Duncan, SC; a daughter, Jennifer VanPelt, Charleston, SC; three brothers, Russell Borden, Cookeville, and Jerry Borden and Terry Borden, both of Allons.

Pallbearers were Lester Langford, Tim Young, David Dorminey, James Parrott, Joe Arney, and Adam Borden.

Scott Russell Logan
Funeral services for Mr. Scott Russell Logan, 22, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2000, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home of Byrdstown with Rick Cross officiating. Burial was in Bond cemetery in Pickett County with Crestlawn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Logan, an employee of Logan's Heating and Cooling, died Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born May 23, 1978, in Clinton County, KY, he was the son of Russell and Stella Bond Logan of Byrdstown. He was a member of the Pickett County Volunteer Fire Department and the Rescue Squad.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Janie Pierce Logan, Byrdstown; four brothers, Steve Logan, Charlie Logan, Gary Logan, and Johnny Logan, all of Byrdstown; and four sisters, Jeanne Logan, Karen Logan, Connie Hill, and Nancy Moon, all of Byrdstown.

Pallbearers were Dallas Garrett, Elvis Beaty, Ronald Beaty, Jeremy Williams, Daniel Huddleston, Jackie Dickerson, Johnny Bond, and Troy Hill. Serving as honorary pallbearers were members of the Pickett County Volunteer Fire Department.

Callie B. Smith
Funeral services for Mrs. Callie B. Smith, 95, of Rickman, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 20, 2000, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Nolan Cantrell, Rev. Ovle Tinch, and Rev. Elmer McCowan officiating. Burial will be in Oakley cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangments.

Mrs. Smith, a housewife, died Monday, September 18, 2000, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born April 10, 1905, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Center and Rillie (Walker) Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney L. Smith; a son, J.C. Smith; and a daughter, Anna Pearl Matheny.

She was a member of Highland Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Harley Lee, Lakeland, FL, and Linda and Jerry Bilbrey, Highland Mountain Community of Overton County; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. One special granddaughter, Angie Akers, cared forMrs. Smith for many years.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Bilbrey, Sidney Lee, Randy Matheny, Ricky Ledbetter, Gerald Windle, and Joey Clements. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gary Gargis, Bub Stockton, Haskel Nolan, A.B. Ledbetter, Coy Smith, Billy Ferrell, and M.J. Harris.

Betty H. Bowman
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty H. Bowman, 80, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. from Gerhart Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Virgil Covel officiating. Burial was in Speck cemetery of Overton County with Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bowman, a retired LPN nurse from Cookeville Regional Hospital and a homemaker, died Sunday, September 17, 2000, at her home.

Born August 20, 1920, in Detroit, MI, she was a founding member of the Gerhart Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as a deaconess.

Survivors include her husband, Chester C. Bowman, Cookeville; three sons, Robert J. Maul and Greg W. Bowman, both of Cookeville, and David C. Bowman, Monterey; a brother, Walter M. Wheeler, Michigan; a sister, Grace Rohrbeck, Warren, MI; three granddaughters, Amanda Bowman, Meghan Bowman, and Dena Williams; and a grandson, David Bowman Jr. Pallbearers were John Williams, Danny Ealey, Tom Rohrbeck, Carl Tate, and John Tollete.

Mark B. Masters Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Mark B. Masters Sr., 86, of the Crossroads Community near Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2000, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home of Monterey with Rev. David Harris, Rev. Oliver England, Rev. M.G. Phillips, and Rev. Odell Ashburn officiating. Burial was in Love Joy cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Masters, a retired coal miner, died Wednesday, September 13, 2000, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.

Born September 24, 1913, in Monterey, he was the son of the late Henry Clay and Mary Brown Masters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Daisy Miller, Faith Bowman, Ruth Phillips, and Ruby Masters; and three brothers, Luke Masters, John Masters, and George Masters.

He was a founding member of Muddy Pond Independent Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Delva Marie Howard Masters, Crossroads Community; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and Arvin Vaughn and Elaine and Hollis Bowman, all of the Crossroads Community, and Elese and Harlan Cumby, Rocky Point Community; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Junior and Ada Masters, Crossville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
