Clayton Templeton
The Rev. Clayton P. Templeton of Chattanooga died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, in Tahlequah, Okla. He was 75.

He had been a missionary to Brazil for the past 46 years and was home on furlough at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Ocelia Templeton.

Survivors include his wife, Marcy Ingalls Templeton; four sons, Vance Templeton, Chattanooga, the Rev. Daniel Templeton, Miles Templeton and the Rev. Darrel Templeton, all of Brazil; two daughters, Sonia Armour, Brazil, and Sylvia Dawson, Chattanooga; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Myers, Tampa, Fla.; and one brother, Leslie Templeton, Norfolk, Va.

Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Duncan Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Templeton, the Rev. Darrel Templeton, and the Rev. Bill Gustafson officiating.

Burial will be in Newnan Springs Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Peggy Winters
Peggy Genvea Marshall Winters of Harrison died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at her home.

She was a photographer and touch-up artist and had lived in the Pasadena, Calif., area for the past several years.

She was of the science of mind faith.

She was the daughter of the late John and Philonia Marshall; and the sister of the late Mary Marshall and Sam Marshall.

Survivors include her husband, Clinton 'Rusty' Winters; one brother, William P. Marshall, Trenton, Ga.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery, Cleveland, Tenn.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Waldens Puddle Wild Life Rehabilitation Center, P.O. Box 641, Joelton, TN 37080-0641.

Jack Wittenmyer
ATHENS, Tenn. - Jack Phillip Wittenmyer died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 54.

He was a truck driver for Banner Linen Co., a U.S. Army veteran, a member of First Baptist Church in Sumterville, Fla., and the Chilhowee Rod and Gun Club of Athens.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Nichols Wittenmyer; two daughters, Tina McCoy, Georgetown, Ill., and Donna Gignac, Green Bay, Wis.; two sons, Jack Wittenmyer Jr., Kitchfield, Ill., and Joseph P. Wittenmyer, Athens; stepdaughter, Darlene Ratkowski; stepson, David Ratkowski, both of Athens; three sisters, Etta Macigewski, Niota, Tenn., Ann Sanders, Athens and Pat Border, Huber Heights, Ohio; two brothers, Jim Wittenmyer and Jerry Wittenmyer, both of Athens; 13 grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Jones officiating.

Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens with military rites.

Visitation will be today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kirstin Towery
Joint graveside services for infant daughters of Jack and Stephanie Brotherton Towery of Soddy-Daisy will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Babyland, Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton, Tenn., with Pastor Greg Alex officiating.

Kirstin Marie died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, and Kristin Ranae died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, in an Atlanta hospital.

Other survivors include their grandparents, Stanley and Helen Brotherton, and Lela Brotherton, Soddy-Daisy; Ranae Walker, Chattanooga; Terry and Sandy Towery, David and Linda Bailey, Harold and Pat Nail, Ted and Louise Walker, and Jessie White, all of Battle Creek, Mich., and Marian Woodward, Chattanooga; sisters, Britni and Taylor Towery; and a brother, Izaak Towery, all of Battle Creek.

There will be no visitation at Vanderwall Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Wyper
Mary Jane Wyper died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, in a local nursing home. She was 86.

A native of Norwalk, Ohio, she had lived in Chattanooga for the past 12 years and was a member of the Church of the Nativity.

Survivors include her husband, Alexander Wyper; two daughters, Elizabeth Davis, Ringgold, Ga., and Sandra Wyper, South Euclid, Ohio; three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Brookdale cemetery Chapel in Elyria, Ohio.

Local arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Victoria Sneed
ATHENS, Tenn. - Victoria Lynn Rohrer Sneed died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, in a Knoxville hospital. She was five years old.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens, with the Rev. Corky Alexander officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

William Turner
William Carr 'Will' Turner, two-year-old son of David 'Johnny' and Barbara Turner of East Brainerd, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, in a local hospital.

Other survivors include his grandparents, Lynn Blanchet of Chattanooga, Martin Blanchet of Nashville, and Wilmoth Turner of Chattanooga; a brother, David Turner Jr.; and a sister, Amanda Kay Turner, both of Chattanooga.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. P.J. McGinnity and the Rev. Waymon Summers officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pauline Uren
Pauline Higgins Uren of Soddy-Daisy, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 85.

She and her late husband, Roy Uren owned and operated many businesses in Soddy-Daisy for many years. She was a member of the Soddy-Daisy Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby R. and Bill Uren, both of Soddy-Daisy; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marshall Roberson and the Rev. Lee Wright officiating.

Burial will be in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Rosetta Thomas
Rosetta Thomas died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in a local nursing home.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Alvonia Webb
Alvonia Rutledge Webb, formerly of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, in Atlanta.

Local survivors include a brother, Alsee Rutledge; and a sister, Marian Overall.

Arrangements are announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Thayer Westbrook
Thayer Westbrook of Rossville died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 75.

He was a longtime resident of the North Georgia area, a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church, a retiree from the Roper Corporation and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Leigh Westbrook; one son, Steve Westbrook, Ringgold, Ga.; a daughter, Kim MacDonald, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Frances Jackson, Rossville and Janelle Harp, Chattanooga; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with the Rev. Dan Scott officiating.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Vergie Goins
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Vergie Calfee Goins died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, in an area nursing home. She was 90.

She was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God and was the widow of Lloyd W. Goins. She was the mother of the late James Edwin Goins.

Survivors include two grandsons, Brad Goins of Portland, Ore., and Scott Goins of Lake Charles, La.

Funeral services will be held Monday at the Grissom Funeral Home in Cleveland, with Dr. C.E. French officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fort Hill cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Cleveland Church of God building fund.

Malvin Wilson
Malvin M. Wilson of East Ridge died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at his residence.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, with the Revs. Lance Sirmans and Wayne Wallin officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to the service at the funeral home.
