Josephine Burton
Mrs. Josephine Burton died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 86.

She was a member of New Enon Baptist Church and was retired from St. Barnabas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Burton Jr.

Survivors include a son, John Burton III, Chattanooga; daughters, Nellie Joe Sales, Louisville, Ky., Patricia Ann Moore, Agnes Lucas and Carolyn E. Hughes, all of Chattanooga; 22 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. A.J. Bullard officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

B.T. Wilson
Beatrice T. Wilson, a former restaurateur, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Wilson was born and reared in Birmingham, Ala., but had been a resident of Chattanooga for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.

She was the mother of the late Sandy L. Jones, the sister of the late Mike, Louis and Edward Zarzour, Gebe Bruce and Margaret Adams, and the cousin of the late Abe Zarzour.

Survivors include a son, Charles Bohorfousch, Rock Spring, Ga.; a daughter, Margaret Ann Drew, Ooltewah; a sister, Elizabeth Morrison, Chattanooga; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. McGinnity officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Tennie Trotter
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Tennie Belle Goodner Trotter of Clearwater, Fla., died from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident, Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. She was 85.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Griffith officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m.

James Pirkle
James Edward Pirkle died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at a local hospital. He was 78.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Revs. C.E. Blevins, Walter Wendleken and Keith Bates officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Tollett
Robert S. Tollett of Chattanooga died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998. He was 64.

A retired self-employed automobile and boat trimmer, he was a member of the Forrest Avenue United Methodist Church, the Chattanooga Coin Club and the Star Twirler Square Dance Club.

He was the son of the late Raymond and Katherine Tollett.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Tollett; two daughters, Theresa Odom, Chattanooga, and Debbie Hill, Dalton, Ga.; one sister, Norma Haisten, Rossville, Ga., and Dolores Hedgepath, Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers, R.L. Tollett, Chattanooga, and Johnny Tollett, Flinstone, Ga. and four grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home, Chattanooga, with the Rev. Barry Bradford officiating.

Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 6100 Building, 5720 Uptain Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.

Mable Williamson
Mable Williamson of Birmingham, Ala., died there Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998. She was 87.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Carolyn West
Carolyn Hudson West of Hixson died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at her home.

A native of Vienna, Ga., Mrs. West had lived in North Augusta S.C., before moving to Chattanooga more than 25 years ago.

She retired from DuPont and TVA and was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Vivian Ruth Wright Hudson.

Survivors include her husband, David L. West Sr.; daughter, Teresa Simmons, Chattanooga; two stepsons, David L. West Jr., Columbus, Ohio, and William L. West, Aiken, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Sandra A. West and Nancy Williams, both of Chattanooga; brother, Tommy Hudson, Vienna; sister, Peggy Cape, both of Vienna; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hixson United methodist Church with the Rev. David Knight officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The body will be at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home today from 4 to 6 p.m.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at 505 Forrester White Dr.

Imerjean Wilkerson
ATHENS, Tenn. - Imerjean Wilkerson died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at her home. She was 72.

She was a former resident of Harriman, Tenn., and was a member of the Bazeltown Baptist Church in Harriman.

Survivors include three daughters, Stella Red Moore of Knoxville, and Rachel and Tracey Wilkerson, both of Athens; five sons, Stanley Phillip, Steve, Bruce, Marvin and Melvin Wilkerson, all of Athens; one brother, Carl E. Wilkerson of Harriman; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bazeltown Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alvin Douglas and the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bazeltown cemetery in Harriman.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home in Athens.

Mildred Webb
Mildred Griffin Webb of Lookout Mountain, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 93.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a Baptist. She also was active with the Senior Neighbors.

Survivors include two daughters, Gerry Mowery of Chattanooga, and Myra Davidson of Hixson; one son, Raymond Griffin of Harrison; one sister, Kathryn Arnold of Red Bank; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home, with the Rev. Everett Gossett officiating.

Burial will be in the Forest Hills cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Claude Washpon
Claude Washpon died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at a local nursing home.

He was a World War II Army veteran, and was retired from the Fairyland Club.

He was the father of the late Michael, Walter and Geneva Washpon, and Thomas Harris.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Washpon; three sons, Claude Jr., Edward, and Anthony Washpon; one daughter, Marilyn Thompson; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Chattanooga National cemetery with the Rev. C. Woods and the Rev. E.J. Lockhart officiating.

Visitation will be after noon today at Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Deidre Hughes Thrash
Deidre Hughes Thrash, who was active in the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library's READ program, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 50.

She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and a retired TVA secretary. She was also a member of the master gardener program.

Survivors include her two sons, Jason 'Jake' Thrash, Chattanooga, and Gabriel 'Gabe' Thrash, U.S. Navy; grandson, Zachery Alcee Thrash; a sister, Debby Aldridge of Harrison, Tenn.; and several nieces.

The funeral will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with minister Kelton Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton County Master Gardener Program, or to the READ Program, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library, 1001 Broad St., Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Inez Wooten
Inez B. Wooten died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in Riverside, Cal.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Trivette officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Estel Weathers
Estel Barbara Weathers of Rossville died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 78.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. CST at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in Ider, Ala., with the Revs. Larry Underwood, Rayford Brown and Brother Billy Vineyard officiating.

Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Baptist Church cemetery.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
