Pauline Scoggins
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Pauline Miller Scoggins died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in a local nursing home. She was 71.

She retired from Bradley Memorial hospital after 31 years as an assistant dietician supervisor.

She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church and was widowed by both Howard 'Junior' Miller and the Rev. Arthur Scoggins.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Davis and Sheila Powers; one son, Larry Miller, all of Cleveland; two stepdaughters, Virginia Dill, Old Fort, Tenn., and Wilma Ensley, Cleveland; stepson, Charles Scoggins, Cleveland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Willie Mae Kidd, Dexter, Mo., and Lucille True, Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Arnold McDonald, Sterling Heights, Mich.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the North Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Cheatham officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Terry Scott
Terry Scott died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 46.

Services were to be today at 1 p.m. at Orchard Park Seventh-day Adventist Church with the Rev. Edmund Julius officiating.

Burial was to be in Greenwood cemetery.

Arrangements by Taylor Funeral Home.

Andrea Scotton
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Andrea Nicole Scotton, formerly of Cleveland, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at her home in Atlanta. She was 25.

The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Wildwood Church of God of Prophecy with ministers Johnny Scotton, Winston Reid and John Posey officiating.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Charleston, Tenn.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Cleveland Bank and Trust, c/o Adonia Johnson, P.O. Box 4880, Cleveland, TN 37320.

Arrangements are by M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home of Cleveland.

James Seagroves
James Bee 'J.R.' Seagroves of Soddy-Daisy died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at his home. He was 85.

He was a Falling Water Church of God member and retired from Tennessee Alloy Co.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Billings Seagroves; a daughter, Brenda Nehl-Goodson, Missouri; a son, Jim Seagroves, Soddy-Daisy; two sisters, Minnie Caldwell, Chattanooga, and Dorothy Harris, Illinois; a brother, Dewey Seagroves, Dallas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Briggs officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Archie Seaton
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Archie Dean Seaton died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at his home. He was 79.

The longtime resident of the Prospect community of Bradley County was of the Presbyterian faith and made his living for 50 years by creating pieces of furniture in his workshop.

He was preceded in death by his wife,Toledo W. Seaton.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Brown, Lynchburg, Va.; one granddaughter; two grandsons; and one sister, Josephine S. Day, Cleveland.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fike Funeral Home, Cleveland, with the Rev. Jason Gooden and the Rev. Sam Melton officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dillard Shadrick
JASPER, Tenn. - Dillard Shadrick of Jasper died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998.

Mr. Shadrick was preceded in death by his parents, David and Annie Walker Shadrick; and one grandson, John Dillard Shadrick.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Graham Shadrick, also of Jasper; one son, Charlie D. Shadrick; two daughters, Jean Trundell and Sue Evans, all of Jasper; six stepsons; 11 stepdaughters; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Jasper, with the Rev. Donald Howard and the Rev. Robert Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

Dennis Shadwick
Dennis Eugene Shadwick of Harrison died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in a local hospital.

Services were to be today at 1:30 p.m. at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Brown officiating.

Burial was to be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Alan Slater
Alan Slater died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 45.

He was a graduate of Riverside High and was employed with U.S. Pipe and Foundry for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Slater; one son, Corey; two daughters, April and Monica; two brothers, Eddie Johnson and Larry Slater, Chattanooga.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. William Whiteside officiating.

Burial will be held in Forest Hills cemetery.

Paul Slatton
Paul Stanley Slatton died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at the residence. He was 71.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Pittman officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Joe Sledge
Joe J. Sledge of Hixson died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at his home. He was 69.

He was a Baptist and a retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Susie and Joe J. Sledge Sr.; brothers, Bob, Woodrow and Herman Sledge Sr., and Clifford Davis; and sisters, Cora Mae Kittrell, Ruby Davis and Mary Lee Hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Sledge; two sons, Larry Sledge, Chattanooga and Jeff Sledge, Memphis; two daughters, Janice Mumm, Ringgold, Ga., and Teresa Emerson, Ooltewah; one sister, Sarah Brentz, Calif; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Claude Smith
Claude A. Smith of Bakewell died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, in a local hospital.

He was retired from forestry work, and was the widower of Annie Smith.

Survivors include a daughter, Leona Cranmore;one son, Ricky Skiles, both of Bakewell; and two sisters, Florence Skiles, Dunlap, and Versie Smith, Sale Creek.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, Soddy-Daisy, with the Rev. Cecil Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be in Welsh-Rogers cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Evelyn Smith
SPRING CITY, Tenn. - Evelyn Demetrious Smith, formerly of Grandview, Tenn., of Lilburn, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Lilburn, Ga. She was 85.

She was a native of Bluefield, W. Va., and a graduate of Hiwassee College. She had been a special education teacher in Cumberland County public schools and was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Wallace R. Smith, and son Thomas Smith.

Survivors include her sons Roddy Smith, Sebastian, Fla., Dan and Tim Smith, Grandview, Keith Smith, Flint, Mich., William Smith, Clearwater, Fla., and Ted Smith, Duluth, Ga.; five daughters, Betty Sue Frazier, Grandview, Mary Ann Smith, Marietta, Ga., Linda Smith, Jupiter, Fla., Ruth Gwen Minnitti, North Dade, Fla., and Margaret Williams, Cookeville, Tenn.; two brothers; two sisters; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Grandview Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Brooks officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Zion cemetery in Grandview.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are by Vaughn Funeral Home.
