Zona Parker
JASPER, Tenn. - Zona M. Parker, formerly of Jasper, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in a Lubbock, Texas nursing home. She was 95.

She was the widow of John P. Parker.

Survivors include her two sons, John Preston Parker Jr., Rossville, Ga., and Max H. Parker, Lubbock, Texas; three daughters, Helen Quinn, Cleveland, Tenn., Eula M. Garner, Jasper, and Rosetta Bain, McMinnville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. CST at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home in Jasper with minister Lewis Holloway officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens in East Ridge.

Joseph Lacewell
Joseph Hardeman 'Jack' Lacewell of Kenton, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in a Trenton, Tenn., hospital. He was 87.

He had been manager of Kleen-A-Matic Dry Cleaning in Chattanooga and was a retired maintenance man for the University of Tennessee at Martin.

He was a member of the Kenton Church of Christ, an Air Force veteran,, a member of VFW and a Mason.

Survivors include one son, Monty Lacewell, Ringgold, Ga.; one sister, Montel Oliver, Columbus, Ohio; and one grandchild.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. Karnes Funeral Home, Kenton, with the Rev. Kevin Thomason and the Rev. Frank May officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sunnyside cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

William Langsford
William Langsford died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998.

Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Maybelle Lankford
She had lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area and was a member of English Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Frances Grizzle, East Ridge; a son, Carl Lankford, Chattanooga; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. John Myers, the Rev. Paul McBryar and the Rev. Willie Ollis officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wilfred Laymon
DECATUR, Tenn. - Wilfred E. 'Fred' Laymon of Grandview, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. He was 62.

He was a graduate of the Parkville School and Baker University. He also received an engineering degree from Kansas State University. He was retired from Bendix-Allied in Kansas City, Mo., after 31 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Wilson Godsey Laymon; three daughters, Laurie Miesse, Marion, Kan., Lynn Spillar, Houston, Texas, and Susie Lawson, Decatur; and two sons, Billy Godsey, Cleveland, Tenn., and Van Godsey, Jefferson City, Mo.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur, with the Rev. Jerry Plaster officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harry Burton
Harry Clay Burton of Rogersville, Tenn., died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, in a hospital there. He was 78.

He was a retired plumber and pipe fitter, and a member of Hickory Cove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Bailey Burton; three daughters, Jo Anna Coffman, Knoxville, Tenn., Mary Francis Hardy and Debi Burton Carroll, both of Kingsport, Tenn.; seven sons, Wayne Burton, Knoxville, Tenn., Harry W. Burton, Rogersville, Luther 'Luke' Burton, Knoxville, Tommy, Jerry L., Roger, and Steve Burton, all of Chattanooga; eight grandchildren; six step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Earl Burton, Rogersville.

Services will be at 8 p.m. today at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville, with the Rev. John Parrott Sr. officiating.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKinney cemetery, Rogersville.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ross Leatherwood
Ross Leatherwood died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in a local nursing home.

He was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church and a former employee of Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute.

He was the son of the late Ross Leatherwood.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Leatherwood; two sons, Theopria Leather Knoxville, and Henry E. Leatherwood, Smith, Ala.; daughter Ruby Blanks, Chattanooga; mother, Lizzie Ragland; two sisters, Eddie Lee Maples and Inez Fields, all of Huntsville, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at noon at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas McAfee officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

The body will be at the funeral home after noon today.

Quinton Ledford
Quinton L. 'Curly' Ledford of McDonald, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 78.

A native of Bradley County, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the South View Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge 134, the American Legion and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ledford; two sons, Jimmy Ledford of McDonald, and Tommy Ledford of Cleveland, Tenn.; one sister, Mary Rose of Cleveland; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at the Wildwood Chapel of the Buckner-Rush Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Grady Simpson, the Rev. Yules Simpson and other ministers officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

Harold Lee Sr.
Harold Dennis Lee Sr. of Georgetown died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Lee was a longtime resident of the Hamilton County area, a member of Shepherd Hills Baptist Church and was retired from the farming industry.

He was a son of the late Lem and Mary Smith Lee.

Survivors include a son, Harold Lee, Georgetown; one daughter, Darlene Butler, Ringgold, Ga.; four sisters, Jimmie R. Fine, East Ridge, Connie McDaniel, East Brainerd, Marie Leamon, Harrison and Louise Sutton, Chattanooga; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Norman Tinsley and the Rev. Donnie Holder officiating.

Burial will be in New McDonald cemetery.

Visitation will be all day today at the funeral home.

Beatrice Letson
Beatrice Humphrey Letson died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at her residence. She was 72.

Funeral services were to be held today at 2:30 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home, with the Rev. Aline Summerlin officiating.

Burial was to be in the Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

John Lewis
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. - John Dudley Lewis of the Nine Mile community near Pikeville, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 87.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. CST at the Putnam-Reed Funeral Home in Pikeville, with the Rev. Marty Goins and other ministers officiating.

Burial will be in the McDowell cemetery.

Visitation will be today at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville.

Josephine Lewis
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Josephine Lewis died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in a Chattanooga hospital.

She was a member of Brittsville Baptist Church, the widow of William T. Lewis and was retired from Cooke's Food Store after 10 years.

Survivors include four sons, David and Dale Pendergrass, Georgetown, Ronnie Pendergrass, Decatur, Tenn., Terry Pendergrass, Cleveland; three daughters, Sarameida Ware, Georgetown, Debbie Dixon, Collegedale, and Melanie Whaley, Cleveland; three stepdaughters, Enzena Nastvogel, Phyliss Rountree, and pat Hendrix, all of Cleveland; sister, Eliza Eldridge, Birchwood; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the North Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Jones officiating.

Burial will be in McInturff cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends today at the funeral home.

Zula Lewis
Zula L. Lewis died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in a local hospital. She would have been 100 years old on Feb. 9.

A native of Section, Ala., she was a member of Forrest Avenue United Methodist Church for over 55 years and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Dorcas Chapter of Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer H. Lewis.

Survivors include a son, Dixie Eugene Lewis, Chattanooga; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maurine Johns, Chattanooga.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Forrest Avenue United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
