Harry Culberson
ETOWAH, Tenn. - Harry A. Culberson died Monday. Jan. 26, 1998, at his home. He was 61.

A native of Cherokee County, N.C., he had worked at Bowater Paper Corp. for 31 years and was the son of the late V.H. and Martha Culberson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Culberson; three daughters, Mimi Blair, and Nancy Triplett, both of Etowah, and Sharon Peterson, Decatur, Ala.; two sisters, Rose Mary Walker, Knoxville, Patricia Pollard, Lake Wales, Fla.; two brothers, J.D. Culberson, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Larry Culberson, Lake Wales; three grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at Bordwine Funeral Home with Lay Speaker Tony Garland officiating.

Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Katherine Curry
Katherine Curry, formerly of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, in Chicago.

She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and the mother of the late Raymond Curry Jr., and the widow of Raymond Curry Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Lillian Schrean, Chicago, Ill.; sister, Viola Young, Washington; brother, Leonard Ramsey; Texas; one grandson and one great-grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. L. Earl Tolbert officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The family will assemble at 3806 Nandena Dr.

The family will receive friends today at the funeral home.

Harmon Cuzzort
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Harmon Luther Cuzzort died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at his home. He was 72.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist.

Survivors include five daughters, Darlene Whittenberger, Cleveland, Meda Picklesimer, Cohutta, Ga., Becky Tankersley, Eton, Ga., Katie and Lucy Cuzzort, both of Tampa, Fla.; five sons, William Cuzzort, Dalton, Ga., Timothy Cuzzort, McCaysville, Ga., Ricki, David and Gary Cuzzort, all of Tampa; two sisters, Bernice Smith and Mary Dotson, both of Sand Mountain, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National cemetery with the Rev. William Whittenberger officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home.

Arthur Dagley
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Arthur Neuton Dagle died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 79.

He was a member of Trenton Street Baptist Church in Harriman, Tenn., the VFW and the American Legion.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, and was involved with the Bradley County Senior Center.

Survivors include one son, Douglas Dagley, Wyandotte, Mich.; one daughter, Pat Lillard, Decatur, Tenn.; two sisters, Nila Ruth Hurley, Dayton, Ohio, and Shirley Rhea Sampson, Morristown, Tenn.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be today at 2 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Price officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradley Senior Center on Urbane Road.

Gordon Davenport
Services for former Krystal executive and Finley Stadium booster Gordon L. Davenport will be today at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, with the Rev. John D. Talbird Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Hills cemetery.

Mr. Davenport died Friday morning, Feb. 13, 1998, in a Jacksonville, Fla., hospital. He was 64.

Survivors include his wife, Leland Hume Davenport; two sons, Gordon Davenport Jr. and William Hume Davenport, both of Chattanooga; daughter, Mary Leland Davenport, Atlanta; brother, R.B. Davenport III, Chattanooga; two sisters, Jane Davenport Jansen, San Francisco., and Mary McGee Davenport, Nashville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today at the church from 2-3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McCallie School, the UTC Athletic Fund or a favorite charity.

Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home.

Eddie Davis
DAYTON, Tenn. - Eddie Dean Davis died today, Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 40.

Arrangements will be announced by Coulter Garrison Funeral Home.

Fred Dawn
Fred Hartman Dawn Jr. died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at his home. He was 76.

Mr. Dawn was the former owner of Dawn Produce Co. and a member of Valleybrook Golf and Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Risku Dawn; sons, Eugene C. Dawn, San Diego, George E. Dawn, Columbia, S.C., and Gary F. Dawn, Chattanooga; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Dawn, Chattanooga, and Ernest Dawn, Illinois.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifford Herd officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood South cemetery.

Visitation will be today and Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lillian Deer
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Lillian Beverly Cooke Deer died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Philadelphia, Pa. She was 50.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Winston Reid officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Charleston, Tenn.

Hattie Dickens
Mrs. Hattie Ruth Dickens died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at her home. She was 72.

She was retired from the state of Tennessee and for many years her family owned and operated the Friendly Cafe in South Chattanooga.

She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, and the church choir.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Dickens.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Dickens Sr.; son, Melvin Dickens, Jr.; daughters, Sandra Faye Bedford and Paulette Walker, all of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur L. Domineck, the Rev. W.H. Thompson and the Rev. J.C. Harris II officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The body will be at Taylor Funeral Home from noon today until one hour before the service.

John Dickerson
John Edward Dickerson died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 72.

Mr. Dickerson served as sales manager and then vice president for Southwestern Steel Containers. He was a member of the American Legion and was active in the Chattanooga Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization.

He was Baptist and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth A. Dickerson; daughter, Anlie Dickerson Rooney, Bell Buckle, Tenn.; son, David Edward Dickerson, Evergreen, Colo.; two brothers, James L. Dickerson, Baton Rouge, La., and William Davis Dickerson, Chattanooga; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were to be today at 2 p.m. in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Arrangements were by the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Benjamin Dixon
Benjamin Scott Dixon died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998.

Arrangements will be announced by the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Grady Blewer
Grady A. Blewer died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 60.

He was a native of Harriman, Tenn., but had lived in the Chattanooga area for the past 37 years.

He was employed by U.S. Pipe and Foundry, a member of East Lake Baptist Church, the Chattanooga Area Veterans Committee and its Honor Guard, VFW Post 4848 and the Highland Park Neighborhood Watch.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Blewer; and one brother, Charles Blewer.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Back Blewer; his mother, Pauline Blewer; two stepsons, Ricky and Tommy Back; two stepdaughters, Christie Back and Belinda Gilbert; a sister, Deborah Boyd, all of Chattanooga; and a brother, Ronald Blewer, Lookout Valley.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Dr. John Waters officiating.

Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
