Harrison Baker
Harrison 'H.M.' Baker died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, in Jefferson City, Tenn. He was 96.

He was a member of the Ridgedale Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for over 34 years. He also was named father of the year in the church in 1988, in recognition of his ministry with the child development center. He was the former building superintendent and a teacher of the Victory Sunday School Class at the church as well. He was a retired postal worker, after more than 40 years of service. He was the widower of Leona Webb Baker.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Baker of Chattanooga, and Eugene Baker of Charleston, Tenn.; one daughter, Imogene Brewer of Jefferson City; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of the Turner Funeral Homes, with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.

Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN.

Maredia Bales
Maredia Rose Bales of McMinnville, Tenn., and formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, in a hospital there. She was 81.

She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Mended Hearts, and the widow of George W. Bales, Jr.

Survivors include one son, Don Collette, McMinnville; two sisters, Nelma Craven, Michigan, and Mae Fuller, Rockford; one brother, Walter Blank, Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. Fred Johnson and the Rev. J.P. Lee officiating.

Burial will follow in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Wayne Bandy
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Wayne Allen Bandy died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 50.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at United Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Baker and the Rev. Ray Cheatham officiating.

Burial will be in Tasso United Methodist cemetery.

Arrangements by the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home.

Charles Bates
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Charles Rodney Bates died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at his home. He was 29.

He was an employee of Galaxy Carpets in Eton, Ga.

Survivors include his mother Bonnie Tallent, Benton, Tenn.; father L.C. Roberts, Tellico, Tenn.; four sisters, Willine Martin, Reliance, Tenn., Jane McKlaskey, Texas, and Donna Brown and Susan Morris, both of Cleveland; two brothers, Mark Bates, Reliance and Chad Roberts, Tellico; grandmother, Mildred Bates, Reliance.

Services will be Saturday at 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Rymer and the Rev. Frank Jones officiating.

Burial will be Sunday at 10 a.m. in Bales cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Larry Bates
Larry Bates of Chattanooga died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 46.

He was a native of Athens, Tenn., the son of the late Alvin Bates and the brother of the late David Bates.

Survivors include his mother, Florence Bates, Chattanooga.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. in the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home, Cleveland, Tenn., with the Rev. Elbert Owens officiating.

Burial will follow in Hiwassee Union Baptist Church cemetery in Reliance, Tenn.

Marcie Baumgardner
Marcie Helen Baumgardner died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 62.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dale P. Lovelady officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Andrew Bayer
Services for Andrew Bayer will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Thaddaeus' Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Bateman officiating.

Mr. Bayer died from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident in Brisbane, Australia. He was 37.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service Thursday.

The committal service will be held Saturday in Gulf Shores, Ala., with the Rev. Peter Keese officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Book of Remembrance at St. Thaddaeus' Episcopal Church, 4300 Locksley Lane, Chattanooga, TN 37416, or to the Marineland Foundation, Dr. Eeusse, President, 9507 Oceanview Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32086.

Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.

Patsy Bearfield
Patsy Miller Bearfield of Knoxville, formerly of Chattanooga, died Monday in a Knoxville hospital. She was 65.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.

Agnes Beavers
GEORGETOWN, Tenn. - Agnes L. Childress Beavers died Wednesday, Jan 21, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 71.

She was the widow of Charlie Beavers and was a Baptist.

Survivors include her daughter, Stella Shannon, Birchwood; three sons, Richard and Lynn Beavers, Georgetown, and Lloyd Beavers, Cleveland; mother, Minnie Childress, Dunlap, Tenn.; five brothers, James, Gene, Clyde, Marshal and Johnny Childress, and sister, Joyce Childress, all of Dunlap; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Homes in Cleveland with ministers Dan Dockery and David Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in McInturff cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today.

John Bell Sr.
LENOIR CITY, Tenn. - John Roy Bell Sr. died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 68.

Mr. Bell was retired from TVA and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Jane Wampler, Malden, Mo.; son, John R. Bell Jr., South Pittsburg; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Click Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Gooden officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery with full military honors by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Bellsynder
Dorothy G. Bellsnyder of Hixson died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, in a local nursing home. She was 79.

Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Walter E. Boehm Birth Defects Center, 910 Blackford St., Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Robbie Bennett
Robbie T. Bennett died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 72.

She was formerly employed by Brock Insurance Co. and was a member of Alton Park Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Y. Walker Simley; son, George L. Green; two grandchildren, all of Chattanooga; brothers, John and Isaiah Walker, both of Greensboro, N.C., Fred Walker, Chattanooga, and Herschel Walker, Boston; and sisters, Lovenia Hawkins and Ruth Townsend, both of Buffalo, N.Y.

The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Alton Park Church of Christ with Brother Phillip Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday at noon at the church.

Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home, Chattanooga.

Dimple Bird
Dimple Bryant Bird of Clarsville, Tenn., formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, in a Clarksville hospital. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Buck officiating.

Burial will be in the Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
