Daniel Wellsted
Daniel Gene Wellsted of Pollock, La., died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, in Alexandria, La. He was 32.
He was born May 2, 1966, in Flint, Mich., to Richard Wellstead of Chattanooga and Carolyn Wellsted.
Local survivors include his half brother, Keven Wellsted, Chattanooga; and stepmother, Dee-Dee Wellsted, Chattanooga.
Services were held Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Columbia, La. with pastor Don Smith officiating.
Arrangements were by Riser & Son Funeral Home in Columbia.
Memorial contributions may be made to his five children and directed to the Dan Wellsted Memorial Fund (Attention Barbara) at Citizens Progressive Bank, P.O. Box 1689, Columbia, LA 71418.
Bessie White
Mrs. Bessie Lee White died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at her home.
She was a Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church member.
Survivors include four sisters, Cora, Patricia, and Alice Rucker, Barbara McClendon; two brothers, Grover Jr. Rucker and Lummorris Weam Sr., all of Chattanooga.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James White
James W. 'Bill' White of Hixson died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 71.
The lifelong Chattanooga native was a U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Combustion Engineering retiree and a New Salem Baptist Church member.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Morris; and mother, Nellie Fisher.
Survivors include his wife, Delda Graham White; two daughters, Dana Cartwright, Jasper, Becky Jordan, Dayton; two sons, Danny White, East Brainerd, Bill White Jr., Murfreesboro; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Painter officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family was to receive friends today from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday after 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tommy Wormsley
Tommy Lee Wormsley of Rossville died Thursday, Sept. 17 1998, at his residence. He was 52.
Formerly of Lorain, Ohio, he lived in Rossville for the past 28 years and was a Vulcan Materials retiree.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Wormsley.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Wormsley, Lorain; stepdaughter, Risa Manery, Phoenix; a stepson, Jody Blaine, Rossville; a sister, Jo Ann Kravis, Kentucky; four brothers, Glen Wormsley, Chicago, William Wormsley, Lorain, Kyle Wormsley, Forest Park, Ga., Jimmy Wormsley, Bloomingdale, Ill.; and four stepgrandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Lea Clower officiating.
Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

Mamie Bennett
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Mamie M. Bennett died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, in an area hospital. She was 75.
She was a member of Hill Top Baptist Church in Ooltewah.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jean Hudgins; a sister, Mary Maples, both of Cleveland; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home in Cleveland, with Mark Williams and the Rev. Gene Bordeaux officiating.
Burial will be in Lee cemetery in McDonald, Tenn.

Thomas Billingsley
WHITWELL, Tenn. - Thomas 'Andy' Billingsley died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 42.
Services were today at 2 p.m. CST at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Lawson officiating.
Burial was in Hoodenpyl cemetery in Dunlap.
Ollie Black
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Ollie P. Black died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, in an area nursing home. She was 82.

Richard Brennan
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Richard 'Dick' Brennan died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in Miami. He was 60.
He was Catholic and was a truck driver for First Fleet for the past nine years. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service, including the Vietnam War. He was the son of the late Walter and Ollie Brennan.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Rogers Brennan; four daughters, Shannon Brennan, Misti Vaughn, Kristi Conway and April Brennan, all of Cleveland; two brothers, Dennis Brennan, Anchorage, Alaska, and Patrick Brennan, Yuma, Ariz.; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Fike Funeral Home in Cleveland, with the Rev. Dan Dockery officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Martha Cantrell
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. - Martha Jean Cantrell of Spotsylvania, Va., and a native of Gadsden, Ala., died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at her home. She was 66.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Cantrell; two sons, Casey Archuleta and Bryan Cantrell, both of Spotsylvania; one brother, David Jones, Gadsden; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. CDT at Pikeville Funeral Home in Pikeville, Tenn., with the Rev. Leonard Cagle officiating.
Burial will follow in Seals cemetery.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Gertie Z. Brewer Fields died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 81.

Shirley Leamon
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Shirley Leamon died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at her home. She was 41.
She was a member of Tasso Baptist Church and a LPN at Bradley-Cleveland Development Center.
Survivors include her husband, George Leamon; son, Levi Gavin; daughter, Kathy Leamon, both of Cleveland; mother, Sayde Lear, Riceville, Tenn.; father and stepmother, Carl and Alice Lear, Louson, Tenn.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Denham officiating.
Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery.

Glen Lee
ATHENS, Tenn. - Glen E. Lee, a retired postal employee after 31 years, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998. He was 59.
A native of Monroe County, he had been a resident of McMinn County most of his life. He was a Baptist and attended Niota United Methodist Church.
He was also a former employee of Bowater and had attended Tennessee Wesleyan College.
He was a member of the American Postal Workers Union, the Chattanooga Local A.F.L.C.I.O., the Etowah Lodge #653 F&AM;, the McMinn Chapter #74 R.A.M., the Chilhowee Shrine Club, Motor Patrol and Hillbillies and the Alhambra Shrine Temple in Chattanooga. He also was a member of the VFW Post #5146 and the B.P.O.E. Lodge #1927 of Athens.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Lee; his parents, Earl and Esta Owenby Lee of Englewood, Tenn.; a daughter, Celesta Lee of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Darlene Burke of Morristown, Tenn., and Kathy Johnson of Sweetwater, Tenn.; one sister, Helen Saffles of Athens; a brother, Doug Lee of Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 8:30 p.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens, with the Rev. Richard Tallent and the Rev. John Smith officiating.
Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park.

SPRING CITY, Tenn. - William Edward Miller died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, in Arizona. He was 64.

DUNLAP, Tenn. - James Shefford Moffitt of the Cagle community near Dunlap died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 63.
Services were today at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Thomas and other ministers officiating.
Burial was in Cagle Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
