SWEETWATER - Lee Roy Cagle died Saturday, May 22, 1999. He was 72.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Old Fashion Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Mike Miller and the Rev. Tim Rogers officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sweetwater Memory Chapel.

Bobby Carroll
WHITWELL - Bobby Ray Carroll died Monday, May 24, 1999, at his home. He was 58.

He was a self-employed carpenter, a member of Whitwell Congregational Methodist Church and a son of the late Ernest and Rosa Wooten Carroll.

Survivors include his wife, Dertha Geraldine Carroll; three daughters, Debbie Campbell and Felicia Hamilton, both of Whitwell, and Tammy Carroll, Trenton, Ga.; son, Tony Carroll, Dallas; three sisters, Jean Newbold, Sylvania, Ala., Glenda Carroll, Atlanta, and Joyce Bolack, Houston; five brothers, Edward Carroll, Warren, Mich., Lebron Carroll, Section, Ala., Lamar and Jimmy Carroll, both of Houston, and James Carroll, Atlanta; nine grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Griffith officiating.

Burial will be in Town Creek cemetery near Rainsville, Ala.

The family will receive friends today after 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Marie Clayton
CLEVELAND - Marie Mingie Clayton died Sunday, May 23, 1999. She was 77.

Mrs. Clayton was a retired seamstress and a 54-year member of South Cleveland Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Dewey M. Clayton; a son, Wendell 'Rod' Clayton; a brother, Kenneth Mingie, Athens, Tenn.; sister, Joyce Johns, Florida; and four grandchildren.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with Dr. Horace Ward and other ministers officiating.

Burial will be in Calhoun Baptist Church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bradley Memorial Hospice.

Lula Cooley
DUNLAP - Lula Mae Hixson Cooley died Monday, May 24, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 96.

She was a member of Welch Chapel Methodist Church for 75 years.

Mrs. Cooley was a longtime resident of Sequatchie County in the Welch Chapel community and a former employee of the Sequatchie Middle School cafeteria, Dunlap Steak House and Jarrell's Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Cooley; daughter, Olena Cooley Jenkins; three brothers, Anderson, Rutherford and Hennigar Hixson; two sisters, Mary and Hester Hixson.

Survivors include a daughter, Wiley 'Iola' Cooley Harmon, Dunlap; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. CDT at Ewton Funeral Home with brother Tommie Eldridge and brother Charles Dixon officiating.

Burial will be at Welch Chapel cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. CDT at the funeral home.

Herbert Cordell
PIKEVILLE - Herbert Domain Cordell died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at a local hospital. She was 78.

She was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Berta Edmonds, Sparta, Tenn.; four sons, Landon, Larry and Lynn Cordell, all of Pikeville, and Lloyd Cordell, Carrollton, Ga.; seven daughters, Linda Evans, Spencer, Tenn., Loretta Headlee, Dayton, Tenn., Lucile Fields, Layne Knowles, Lois Pendergrass, Lisa Holloway and Cindi Reagan, all of Pikeville.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. CDT at Pikeville Funeral Home with the Rev. Delbert Raines officiating.

Burial will be at Iron Hill cemetery.

Diana Cox
DECATUR - Diana Shirley Cox died Friday, May 21, 1999, at her home. She was 60.

She was a Baptist, a nurse and a counselor with drug and alcohol abuse.

Survivors include two sons, Dwight Cox, Decatur, and Mark Cox, Ft. Myers, Fla.; a sister, Joann Freidley, Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held Monday.

Nellie Dale
CLEVELAND - Nellie Jo Dale died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at her home. She was 66.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland with the Rev. James 'Buck' Hughes and the Rev. Frank Nolen officiating.

Burial will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Cupp Family cemetery in Miracle, Ky.

Oscar Frisbie
NIOTA - Oscar C. Frisbie died Sunday, May 23, 1999, in an area health care facility. He was 83.

Mr. Frisbie was a member of Union-McMinn Baptist Church and was retired from H.A. Collins and J. Ben Forrest Furniture of Niota.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecil Lanie King Frisbie, and a daughter, Catherine Gertrude Martin.

Survivors include two sons, Homer Frisbie, Niota, and Oscar Frisbie Jr., Maryville, Tenn.; three daughters, Alice Ditmore and Linda Jackson, both of Athens, Tenn., and Mildred Hall, Niota; three brothers, Hubert, Bradley and Stanley Frisbie, all of Niota; a sister, Gertie Frisbie, Niota; and six grandchildren.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Cagle and the Rev. Homer Belcher officiating.

Burial will be in Frisbie cemetery.

William Gentry
SALE CREEK - William C. 'Bill' Gentry died Sunday, May 23, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 67.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Carroll Bandy officiating.

Burial will be in Rhea Memory Gardens.

Grace Gray
CLEVELAND - Grace Gertrude Gray died Sunday, May 23, 1999. She was 97.

Mrs. Gray was a member of Valley View Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Ben F. Gray; a son, Robert W. Hand Jr.; and a granddaughter.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald James officiating.

Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley View Baptist Church building fund, 4657 Spring Place Road, S.E., Cleveland, TN 37323.

Elizabeth Gregory
CLEVELAND - Elizabeth Brown Gregory died Saturday, May 22, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 88.

She was a member of Bowman Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church and was the last known surviving widow of a Spanish American War veteran, the late Robert E.L. Gregory.

Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Wilson, Cincinnati, Ohio, Nancy Tatum and Shirley Patterson, both of Cleveland; two sisters, Bonnie McClure, Clyde, N.C., and Ruby Lewis, Greenwood, S.C.; 32 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Wildwood Chapel of Buckner-Rush Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel E. Carlton officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Rosal Grimes
KNOXVILLE - Rosal Andrews Grimes died Sunday, May 23, 1999, in a Knoxville health care center. She was 83.

Arrangements will be announced by Willis Funeral Home, Dalton, Ga.

Gary Johnson
DUNLAP - Gary Lee Johnson died Saturday, May 22, 1999. He was 22.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, with the Rev. Chuck Stewart officiating.

Burial will be in Granny Walker cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Steve Lewis
PIKEVILLE - Pfc. Steve Lewis Jr., of the U.S. Marine Corps, died Sunday, May 23, 1999, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was 18.

He was a 1998 graduate of Bledsoe County High School and was stationed at Camp Pendleton Marine base in San Diego. He was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church and was the grandson of the late Marlyn Ross Lewis.

Survivors include his parents, Connie and Steve Lewis Sr.; sister, Crystal Watson, all of Pikeville; grandparents, Christine and the Rev. Paul Warren, Rossville, Ga., and Hazel and Leon Tollett, Crossville, Tenn.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. CDT at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Ashburn officiating.

Burial will be in McDowell cemetery.

Elsie Morgan
DAYTON - Elsie Cain Morgan died Sunday, May 23, 1999. She was 83.

She was a homemaker, a member of Dayton Foursquare Gospel Church, the widow of Jack Morgan and the mother of the late James and Jackie Morgan.

Survivors include three sisters, Rose Arnold, Dayton, Irene Glanville, Finksburg, Md., and Jennie V. Hill, White Marsh, Md.; two brothers, James Cain, Battle Creek, Mich., and Bill Cain, Cloverdale, Mich.

Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Vanderwall Funeral Home with the Rev. Bart Slikker officiating.

Burial will be in Buttram cemetery.

Visitation will be today after 5 p.m.

Patsy Morgan
BENTON - Patsy Ann Morgan died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at her home. She was 49.

Mrs. Morgan was a member of Springtown Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Morgan; four daughters, Missy Lane and Penny Bishop, both of Benton, Patty Disspain, Etowah, and Tammy Wilcox, Reliance, Tenn.; a son, Carson 'Pete' Morgan, Benton; four sisters, Faye Bain, Delano, Mary Helen Ingram, Etowah, Linda Sprayberry and Dean Farris, both of Benton; and a brother, Gene Cross, Benton.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Loveday officiating.

Burial will be in Morgan cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
