Harry Bible
Harry Powers Bible died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 91.

Mr. Bible was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

He retired from the Chattanooga Police Department and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Chattanooga Half Century Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Bible.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Mitteness, Buford, Ga.; a son, James Bible, Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Tyner cemetery with the Rev. Dale Gilbert officiating.

There will be no visitation. Chattanooga Funeral Home, East, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Bragg
Helen B. Bragg of Ooltewah died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 101.

Mrs. Bragg, a native of Newport News, Va., had lived in Hamilton County for the past 25 years. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Charles Bragg.

Survivors include two nephews, Bill Battle, Chattanooga, and Roy Battle, Fisherville, Va.; and a niece, Genevieve McIntosh, Pensacola, Fla.

A graveside service will be Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Collegedale cemetery with pastor Dwight Herod officiating.

There will be no visitation. Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Burnette
Ruth Forbes Burnette, who taught for 31 years in the Chattanooga Public Schools, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at her home.

A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. in Chattanooga Memorial Park, with a memorial service to follow at Northside Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Eade Anderson and Dr. Larry Schenk officiating.

Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, North.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Book of Remembrance at Northside Presbyterian Church.

Morris Coker
Morris 'Bud' Coker died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at his home. He was 71.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Henson and pastor Lonnie Qualls officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Visitation will be today one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Suzanne Crawley
Suzanne Wiygul Crawley died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at her home. She was 52.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Joyce Daugherty
Joyce Lee Daugherty, president of Daugherty Insurance Co., died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 64.

A memorial service will be today at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. George Glazier and the Rev. Jim Wilbanks officiating.

The family will receive friends today one hour before the service at the church.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Bell Denham
Bell DeVault Denham died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, in Leighton, Ala. She was 102.

A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Local arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Joyce Evans
Joyce Fleming Evans died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at her home. She was 69.

She was a native of Atlanta and was the widow of Joseph Herbert Evans Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Brown, Chattanooga; a son, Jody Evans, Nashville; her mother, Dorothy Fleming; two brothers, Albert and Claude Fleming, all of Atlanta; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with the Rev. Leroy Webb officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Miranda Ford
Miranda Anderson Ford of Soddy-Daisy died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. She was 16.

She was a Hamilton County vocational student and a member of Straight Way Holiness Church.

Survivors include her parents, Leslie Franklin Ford Jr., and Rhonda Regina Ford; three brothers, Charles and Chad Smith and Leslie F. Ford III, all of Soddy-Daisy; and her grandparents, Leslie F. Ford Sr., and Maudie Elsie and James Anderson.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Aaron Simmons and the Rev. Cecil Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton County Memorial Park.

The family is receiving friends at the funeral home.

Charles Frederick
Charles E. Frederick of Ooltewah, a native of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 86.

He was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, a graduate of the Chattanooga High School Class of 1931 and was past president and CEO of Rutledge Lumber and Manufacturing Co.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Parker Frederick; two sons, Robert L. and Charles E. Frederick Jr., both of Chattanooga; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be today at 10 a.m. in Greenwood cemetery with Dr. J. Render Caines officiating.

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Chester Harden Jr.
Chester Harden Jr. died Thursday, May 20, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 68.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Harold Humphrey Sr.
Harold H. Humphrey Sr. died Sunday, May 15, 1999, at his home. He was 55.

Mr. Humphrey was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Rose Humphrey; three brothers, George E., James and I.W. Humphrey; and two sisters, Dorothy and Lois Humphrey.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Humphrey Jr. and Timothy P. Humphrey, both of Chattanooga; a daughter, Sylvia Humphrey, Norfolk, Va.; five brothers, John and Jeff Humphrey, both of Huntsville, Ala., Willie D. Humphrey, Detroit, J.C. Humphrey, Chattanooga, and Earl Humphrey, Nashville; three sisters, Eula Mae Petty and Helen Wilkes, both of Chattanooga, and Annie Louise Humphrey, Nashville.

Services will be Saturday at noon at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. William C. Ryan officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The body will be at the funeral home today after noon.

Destiny Isom
Destiny Deshayla Isom, infant daughter of April Deone Sand and Darick O'Neal Isom, died Thursday, May 19, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital.

Other survivors include her grandparents, Barbara Freeman, David Isom and Ollie Isom; great-grandparents, Patricia Beavers, Geneva Sims and Jonas Sims; and a great-great-grandmother, Hattie Sand, all of Chattanooga.

A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton, Tenn.

Jessie James
Jessie May James died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 73.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. J.C. Prettyman officiating.

Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

Charles Morris Charles Mayo 'Bud' Morris died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in Demorest, Ga.

Arrangements will be announced by the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Bob Myers
Robert D. 'Bob' Myers, a driving force in amateur wrestling in Chattanooga, across the South and the nation died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at his Hixson home. He was 74.

A funeral mass will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Nolan officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East.

Memorial contributions may be made to the UTC Wrestling Department, 615 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Taraben Patel
Taraben Patel died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at her home. She was 75.

She was born in India and had lived in the United States for the past 12 years. Mrs. Patel was of the Hindu faith.

Survivors include two sons, Narendra Patel, Kentucky, and Indravendan Patel, East Ridge; a daughter, Vimelben Patel, California; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, with a prayer service from 1 to 3 p.m.

William C. Smith
William C. Smith of Ooltewah died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 81.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North, with the Rev. Clankston Freeman officiating.

Burial will be in Brayton cemetery.
